- Hyperion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I can't believe they left out the iPod Nano 200GB Hack Instructions: http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Ipod_Nano_200gb_Instructions/Page_1
(Yes, this is a joke) - Flankk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The article says it's not useful installing Wikipedia on an iPod shuffle because it has no display. Someone install festival on iPod Linux and get it to read you Wikipedia entries, then I will be truly amazed.
- deadlock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They didn't switch the colours to make the cable incompatible, they switched the colors because they had to: the A/V cable plugs into the same 3.5mm jack that your headphones plug into. It was either 'break' the A/V cable or 'break' your headphones. If they'd wanted to force everyone to buy their cable and *only* their cable, it would have been far easier to make the 3.5mm port *not* output video and force everyone to buy a cable that connects to the dock port.
Also, the article is wrong about ripping DVDs in Windows. You don't need to convert the VOBs to AVI - Videora (or, rather, FFMPEG) will quite happily convert VOBs without any intermediate conversion. - JohnyD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hacking an iPod is really the only useful thing you can do with them. I mean... you don't even need one to look cool... you just need the headphones, right? Sometimes I just wear my headphones and walk around pretending to look like I'm an iPod'er. I tell you... people think I'm the cat's meow! I
- toekneebullard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I have to say the last hack, the scratchless screenm, is absolutely retarded. The end effect looks terrible, and you can see where the click wheel doesn't meet the new cover completely, which means plenty of drit and lint will be inside is ipod shortly.
- rusty_g, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i like collaboration of hacks like this.. it gives me ideas to do other things as well and more reasons to purcahse at least one of each of the iPod family.
- danr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i dugg this comment for the use of the term "cat's meow" not used enough these days. Sometimes I'll substitute "cat's pajama's" means the same thing.
- kunit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1oh yeah i put on the headphones and pretend im eminem from that movie when he's on the bus lol

this one is pretty good
http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/iPodLibrary-b-Download-15465.html - firefoxguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1do you know of any hacks to put video on an iPod photo?
- PathDaemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So… wait. Has anyone actually succeeded at performing the 8GB hack?
- trogdoor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You are wrong, you can still play any song you normally would in the default iPod os (it is a dual boot).
- toekneebullard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What? Did you just make up a hack? The guy took the plastic from a PSP and put it on an iPod...that's all...there was no turning a PSP into an iPod or anything else.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2there's nothing new here.. it's just ipodlinux and ways to use ipodlinux.. old/lame.
it didn't even mention altering apple's ipod firmware. on mine i use a hack that adds graphical icons next to all the menus.. looks cool and unique.. - Cronos1388, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For those interested in graphical hacks check out www.ipodwizard.net

This trick didn't work for me for some reason, but you can still get the apple brand one for FREE, just go to apple support and say that its broke (its covered under your warranty) and they send you it and thats that you dont have to return the old one or anything - trogdoor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For those that were hesitating installing wikipedia because it would break podzilla (as I was) there is a way to do use both although it is not obvious from the official page (it is also not obvious that the installer replaces podzilla in the first place)

- sjetha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1digg+ almost purely for the iPod/PSP hack at the end. Imagine showing someone a PSP and seeing an iPod running on it. They'd be confused for a sec then accuse you of running emulation on there or something.
But when you swing that click wheel around.. watch their jaw drop! - brandonhines, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm thinking the same thing. iPod Linux. Great. And apps for it. So, these are "iPod Linux Hacks" and a crazy ass 8GB nano hack.
I wish there something along the lines of quick eBook/PDF to text conversion for reading on the go rather than hacks that (correct me if I'm wrong) cripples the use of any songs I've bought from teh iTMS. - ggko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+08gig nano looks cool, but with my soldering skills I'd probably destroy it. Plus I just bought an MP3 player last month, (waiting for the RAM based iPods get bigger.)
And good to see Shufflehacks doing more than just shuffle cases and shuffles crammed into a headset posts. Though I was hoping that mouse transmitter would be mostly self-contained. - ggko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You didn't read the linked page, did you?
- Duffeon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0gosh, I'd love to try one, but i'm guessing the chances of screwing up ur ipod are better than not
- lukas88, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1On this occasion, I present a haiku:
Everyone else knows
The sweet love of an ipod
I'm the last on earth
Some day, some day - Qdub, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Of course the original Handbrake is better...it has more features. Handbrake Lite is more iPod optimized.
- Chaos12, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The wikipedia texts look nice.
- Qdub, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Don't forget about Handbrake Lite for converting, which rips a DVD and converts the video right to the optimal iPod screen size. Oh, and iSquint too.
http://isquint.org/ - toastguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0#5 is interesting, on how Apple just switched the colors on a standard cable so it becomes incompatible.
I think ill try using this "hack" tomorrow. - Ashex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Indeed, I was surprised they didn't even mention that, or Rockbox. In my honest opinion, that list is a bunch of crap. He just grabbed all the most commonly known mods you can do, but half are useless (radio shuffle? double capacity? Wikipedia on the pod?) or require technical knowledge.
But anyways, iPodWizard should have been on that list, if not RockBox. Seriously guys, check those two out. - sierranovember, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2hack, hack, mod, iSomething.
- blakespot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Do-it-yourself 8GB nano hack
http://www.ipodhacks.com/article.php?sid=1693 - aximbigfan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0watch as some stupid kid (im 13 but i know electronics) tryes to double their memory and then finds out that they dont know how to solder...
oh yeah and ipod are pure evel! - TJENN, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0hmmm, link isn't working here.
