And don't spout ***** at me about how "big boys send e-mails". It's not easier, it's not faster, and no, not EVERYONE has ***** internet on their phone that I correspond with. I receive tons of picture messages, have to grab a ***** pen everytime, and endure viewmymessage.com - SamDuvall, on 10/30/2008, -2/+44"Copy and Paste" My eyes almoust popped out.
- 00420, on 10/30/2008, -2/+34What sense does it make to have users rate an application upon deletion? Then the majority of people rating the app would be the ones who don't like it.
- megamod, on 10/30/2008, -1/+31That's 7 =(...psh
Background notification for my e-mail and IMs please!! - hsep88, on 10/30/2008, -0/+24Here's a feature suggestion that I haven't heard much of anywhere: A customizable dictionary. Why can't I delete certain words that the iPhone continuously thinks I'm trying to use from the dictionary? Likewise, why can't I add words like hell and ***** that are constantly being corrected?
- Scopitone, on 10/30/2008, -4/+25Can it sync via wifi yet, dammit?
- robotfriendly, on 10/30/2008, -1/+20Don't give Apple the idea...
- JackGrinnan, on 10/30/2008, -1/+18The majority of those really do nothing for me. Safari tweak? What does it matter?
- Kanaka, on 10/30/2008, -1/+18I can also expect the update...NOT to have:
Copy/Paste
Decent Bluetooth Profile
Video Recording
MMS
SMS Forwarding
Flash support
Unified Email Inbox
System wide Search - raitchison, on 10/30/2008, -0/+15Lets hope that competition from the G1 and BlackBerry Bold will force Apple to improve.
- fuelcarddotorg, on 10/30/2008, -2/+16christ, I would pay $100 for copy paste at this point
- DomZy, on 10/30/2008, -0/+13I want a notification system api for apps to use. I want these notifications (ones allowed by me) to be displayed on the lock screen. And that includes calendar events!
Customizing the mail tone would be nice as well. - TexasShiv, on 10/30/2008, -1/+13"ducking"
- 1jaxstate1, on 10/30/2008, -0/+11LOL, yeah, and it wouldn't be so bad if you could cut and paste the info to the viewmymessages page...but.....you know...no cut and paste.
- inactive, on 10/30/2008, -0/+10"Copy and Paste
Kidding! You didn't fall for that one, did you?"
Yeah so funny, but gee I'm sure glad there are Emoticons, that makes it so much better than other phones... ??! /S - IphtashuFitz, on 10/30/2008, -2/+11un-freaking-believable that there's still no copy & paste. That's one almost universal request among iPhone users (who haven't already jailbroken their phone, etc). By not even acknowledging it Apple is pissing off a huge number of their customers. If they provided it, it would make a lot of people extremely happy.
- seldon452, on 10/30/2008, -3/+11Why is apple not actually adding things that people care about?
Oh wow, I can rate on deletion. Almost makes you forget about not having copy paste.
The remote podcast download is a welcome addition but I've seen jailbreak apps that can do that. Why does it seem apple is always one step behind jailbreak apps? - seand, on 10/30/2008, -3/+11Funny. Microsoft is blamed of this business practice and is called uncreative, a copy-cat, etc. Apple does it and suddenly it is a smart idea.
You can't have it both ways.
Seldon - apple doesn't add things people care about because they don't have to. Reading the comments in Apple-centric threads? They usually revolve around people getting on their knees and thanking Jobs for whatever fruit he is willing to dangle at his fundamentalist followers.
I wish I had the following he has, I would try taking over small countries by force :) - zjbird, on 10/30/2008, -2/+10No thanks, iPhone is better.
- inactive, on 10/30/2008, -0/+7beeeecause they are?
- MrSkills, on 10/30/2008, -0/+7Similarly, I do not want a new car. That is why I don't bother commenting on Digg articles about cars.
- doublsh0t, on 10/30/2008, -0/+7Hmm I like that they're trying to get more ratings from users...but is asking for a rating during DELETION really the way to do it? For example, If I'm completely happy with an app that I'd rate 5 stars, I'd probably not delete it. So...on the face of it, is sounds like they might be leaving out a key group of satisfied users.
- 1jaxstate1, on 10/30/2008, -0/+6Please let us run background processes. Limit it to two or three,, but having to close out Pandora or log out of Palringo every time I answer a call or reply to a new text is absolutely ridiculous.
- inactive, on 10/30/2008, -0/+6There is a Jailbreak app called Backgrounder that lets you do that!
http://gizmodo.com/5058234/iphone+backgrounder-hac ... - inactive, on 10/30/2008, -1/+7I feel sorry for his wife.
- inactive, on 10/30/2008, -1/+6and it keeps capitalizing "*****", like ***** I don't want that capitalized!
- iChopPryde, on 10/30/2008, -0/+5Actually I think those Emoji icons are real because Japanese like to use these a lot and is a reason why the iPhone is not doing so well in Japan so this would help in the Asian markets.
- baldgye, on 10/30/2008, -3/+8Boss: "I need you to write a page for the site, it can be about anything... just get it done by 5pm!"
Charlie: ***hmmm.... well, everything about Windows 7 has been covered.. oo got a txt... wait, I have an iPhone, other people also have iPhones.. I've not heard much about iPhones in the news in the last week****
----------minutes later--------
Charlie: "BINGO!" - slanted, on 10/30/2008, -0/+5Agreed... It would be a usable work-around if the viewmymessage.com message came with a link that would just send you to the picture online. I'd settle with that for a while...
- SteaminTmann, on 10/30/2008, -1/+6SMS in general sucks ass. (In fact I'm getting angry just thinking about it). Not being able to forward messages, intermittent timestamping, etc. It just seems like they did a half-ass job on it, or there's some reason, be it political or otherwise that these features were left out.
The lack of MMS is just ridiculous. That is the one true feature I really miss. They assume you have e-mail addresses for everyone in your contacts, which is just not the case. I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 contacts, I maybe have 10% of their email addresses, and at least give me the ***** option of forwarding the message to my email instead of to my phone, so I don't have to use that piece of ***** called viewmymessage.com. How asinine is it that they create this convoluted website, which you need to log in to, in order to 'view your message'. Oh and you can't even view it on the phone, BECAUSE IT USES FLASH TO DISPLAY YOUR MESSAGE! Are you kidding me? - kris33, on 10/30/2008, -4/+8Why don't you just install SwirlyMMS?
- cthellis, on 10/30/2008, -1/+5...and it's certainly not up-to-date or well-supported on the majority of mobile devices.
- ericditmer, on 10/30/2008, -1/+5It doesn't help that the message ID doesn't pre-populate when you click the link to view the image. Grrrr.
- Gnarstache, on 10/30/2008, -0/+4looking forward to the downloadable podcast feature
- ss429, on 10/30/2008, -0/+4I got an iPhone a few days ago and I would really like to be able to mark multiple emails as "read" and also search my inbox. I understand that not all emails/headers are fully downloaded to the phone but it should atleast give me the option to search through whatever mail it has already downloaded and a button asking me if I would like to download the remaining, maybe even asking how far back in time it must search so it wont have to download all 3000+ mails.
Also why are links disabled in the Calendar app? If someone sends me an invitation to an event with a link in it that has directions, I am not able to click it and since there is no copy paste functionality Im basically SOL.
I guess I hardly use the iPhone for all the "fun" things like messaging and browsing but their much advertised enterprise friendliness needs more refinement. - dalesmatrix, on 10/30/2008, -0/+4Rating on deletion seems like a good way to bias reviews to the negative side, I mean your generally deleting something 'cause you don't like it right. As opposed to the ones you keep which you do like.
- BrendanSheehan, on 10/31/2008, -0/+4Copy and paste doesn't require buttons. There are few solutions. A select button in the tool bar, gestures, or a 'long hold' of the magnifier. I think a long hold with the magnifier would be an elegant solution. You could pause it in position and hold it steady for a second or two and the text selector could change color to let you know the start point has been set. Then you'd do the same at the end point. This way you could pick out the exact piece of text you want, just like on your computer. Which on Android you can't do, you can old pick by paragraph.
I boggles the mind why they didn't sort this out ages ago. - MxM111, on 10/30/2008, -1/+5But Podcast update alone worth updating. The rest is so so.
- shanghainobody, on 10/30/2008, -0/+4When's it coming out? Any guesses?
- kenvsryu, on 10/30/2008, -0/+4Safari crashes at least 3x a day for me. It's horrible.
- cthellis, on 10/30/2008, -1/+5Most people want it without teh haxx0ring, though.
- Nosrac, on 10/31/2008, -0/+4Funny. I've never heard of the Tilt.
- GovGeek, on 10/30/2008, -0/+4Apple is good at giving you 80% of what you want, very beautifully! (so a friend of mine says)
- iChopPryde, on 10/30/2008, -1/+5I already have Video Recording (cycorder)
I already have MMS (SwirlyMMS)
I already got a feature filled Camera (Snapture)
Now what I want is Copy and Paste then I am set!
I like the Emojicons though will that only work for people with iphones are all phones in general? - aserer511, on 10/31/2008, -0/+4new safari layout is NOT better. place the google search feature in a contextual menu, not in a space-robbing position. its used far less often than regular url
- gquaglia, on 10/30/2008, -2/+6Flash is nice, its certainly not a necessity.
- cthellis, on 10/30/2008, -0/+3That one in particular seems kind of unlikely, as it doesn't really fit into Apple's usual design and image scheme.
- doogmeist1, on 10/30/2008, -1/+4I Really, really, really, really hope it comes with more HYPE!
You can't have enough HYPE when it comes to the iphone... ever! - tofslie, on 10/30/2008, -0/+3# 9 - Disappointment
- inactive, on 10/30/2008, -2/+5When it comes to Apple, I've learn't to expect nothing.
