- Bricks, on 10/10/2007, -6/+58I can't wait to see what text MS uses when they directly copy this in the next version of Windows!
- Cahill, on 10/10/2007, -2/+53it's not spanish *****, it's italian.
- WiseWeasel, on 10/10/2007, -5/+46Oops, I'm an idiot. I had difficulty parsing that summary for some reason... Stop digging me up, people!
- kingkilr, on 10/10/2007, -1/+42...funny jokes are undocumented features, jesus our government is made of uptight pricks.

- WiseWeasel, on 10/10/2007, -5/+33Oops, my bad, I had difficulty parsing the summary for some reason, and didn't even realize that's what they were saying... I'm an idiot...
- jpfree, on 10/10/2007, -3/+27Well done, you can read the summary.
- modusop, on 10/10/2007, -2/+26That's cool - I wonder what the old TextEdit icon says in the original psd file - it doesn't look like it's the same text.
- WiseWeasel, on 10/10/2007, -4/+26Actually, no, I don't speak Italian. I just remember those inspirational commercials when they originally aired.
- Angostura, on 10/10/2007, -1/+21If any of you are running MS Office v.X still, go and find a Word preference file. and view the icon huge size (something you couldn't do when v.X was released).
At normal size the icon looks like it has two radio buttons with illegible text next to them. Blow it up and you can see the text reads "Can you read this?" "I don''t think you can." - Snoz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+20Translation

- Alegoo92, on 10/10/2007, -1/+18I love easter eggs! By far my favorite is that HP ScanJet with Ode To Joy on it!
..but alas, HP's days of fun and games appear to be over. - revmitcz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17Yeah, I wonder if/when an Apple employee will ever break the silence about that. Could just be lorem ipsum text. At any rate - the text written on a 512x512 icon like this is hardly an "easter egg". I seem to remember that years back, Jobs had "forbid" easter eggs in the OS.
- smhill, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17It wasn't really Jobs that changed that. It was primarily because government and large companies started requiring that the products they bought didn't contain undocumented features. Apple stopped as did Microsoft. It's too bad really, there were some great ones.
- WiseWeasel, on 10/10/2007, -8/+24That's the text from the "Think Different" Apple TV spots that aired after Apple acquired NeXT...

- HUKI365, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13I wonder if the new dock will "zoom" up to 512px size?

"The ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do." - unloud, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10You mean famous. The ad didn't do anything damaging or controversial.

- newbill123, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Microsoft's version will be a cease and desist order from their lawyer if you haven't activated yet, and an excerpt from the license agreement where you give up all your rights if you have activated.

- CheeseheadDave, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5 Easter Egg di Leopard: here the first one
The date of escape of Leopard is approached and between the curiosities that every operating system door with if there are “easter egg”, of the small surprised hidden in the code with witnesses and particular acknowledgments or images hidden between cartelle or the not visible rows.
Here the first one that will turn out obvious soon to all thanks to the monstrous dimensions of the icone of Leopard.

Perhaps all our readers do not know it, but one of the eclatanti and visible changes from endured on the new operating system of Apple, that it would have to arrive within October 2007, is the dimensions of the icone: it is passed from the already remarkable ones 128x128 pixel the “monstrous ones” 512x512 pixel with turns out to you to little fascinating: thanks to the elevated dimensions the objects represent forgiveness to you to the maximum blowup their “iconicità” in order to become of the rich images of details.
And therefore one of the icone more seen of the operating system of Apple, that one of TextEdit, the practical one editor of witnesses insufficient transforms the represented intelligible text in its foglietto in a series of backs that the Mac customers of long date know very well: they are those of the campaign “Think Different; that it represented one of the successes of image of the return of Steve Jobs to the guide of the company of Cupertino.
The words are exactly those of the spot that it more counter-current alternated images of the personages of the history and that, rare case, came translate also in our language with the voice of Dario Fo.
The video originates them, that Italian and the transcription of the text in our language is on this page of the Forum di Macitynet.
Here under you we show the new icona of Text Edit: it confronts it to you with that present on yours puts into effect them version of Mac OS X! - scoobycarolan, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6There was a contest to figure out what the old text was on the icon. It looks like "Once upon a time..." is the beginning

- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Wow! You mean a marketing department will on occasion exaggerate things to get people interested in a product? That's almost as astounding as yet another Apple troll with an anal fixation. Well, I'm sure your boyfriend loves you.
- piwy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4That would be because it *is* a pencil? It's a mechanical pencil.
- WiseWeasel, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Probably something from the Windows marketing brochure...
- pinchies, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You dont really need the read link. There is a gallery of the 9A527 build on thinksecret.com which has it in it.
- GawtMilk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Truly revolutionary. Goodbye, pencil sharpeners.
- enicholas, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I'm typing this on a copy of Leopard right now. It is no more resolution independent than Tiger was. There is still no UI to activate resolution independence, and if you use Quartz Debug to do so (at least as of a few seeds ago) everything is horribly buggy.
The most damning evidence is that Apple has informed developers that they must be ready for resolution independence by 2008. Leopard launches in 2007, so if they expose the resolution independence features for launch (which there are no signs that they plan to do) they will break tons of applications that aren't ready for it yet. - newbill123, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I think that's the "Apple Chancery" font, isn't it?
- haney64, on 11/14/2007, -0/+3No, the humongous icon size is to make things look very pretty when you use the Finder CoverFlow feature.
- BossKey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3"By using this software, you agree to the following conditions: ..."
- neuropsychguy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I think the best one I remember was the alien in early versions of Quark that would walk out and zap your text boxes when you deleted them with a certain key combination.
- chedabob, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Do you really need a description to look at a picture?
- mochaman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2This easter egg can also be found in Tiger. If you blow-up the Textedit icon to 124 pixels you can see that nothing has changed is the same icon. The only thing that's different is that Leopard now has a crazy 512 PIXELS! for its icons.
- MasteRR, on 11/14/2007, -0/+2*****. I have Ubuntu on an old P3 600mhz and it runs fine with SVG all over the place. Or are you telling me the Apple doesn't know how to optimize?
- Cine, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2What? It does, it just needs to be launched first. :)
- KingBabi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Spy Hunter remake, if I recall.
- meachen, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4oh man.....i was hoping to see a leopard ***** out an easter egg
