- stephenv, on 10/12/2007, -6/+28Secret Folder = Porn hider FTW
- misterjangles, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23But it has the words "cool" and "Mac OSX" in the headline! How can that be a bad thing?!
- nicktripp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9If it works for PowerPC Macs, it works for Intel Macs too. Although, Universal apps are preferred.
- SirG3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Could also hide it inside an application/file bundle... most users don't even know that applications are folders and as such, anything can be put there.
- phlyngpngn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6On the folder hiding:
Just create a directory in terminal with a dot preceding the name. Finder won't see it and you can use the Go to folder menu item in Finder to get to it. No software required, and the woman still hasn't found my giant collection of scanned postage stamps. - evildeadman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Yeah...a girlfriend (or wife) who likes porn. I'm one lucky devil.
- MikeOSX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Actually I take my previous comment back. You have to pay for and register the software. Span indeed.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+13This looks like spam.
- brianez21, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6You can also make an encrypted DMG file called ".my work.dmg" or something similar, this gives you two layers of "protection" (hidden in Finder and password protected).

direct duggmirror link.
Site has no reasons why I should get what's there . . . - livet0ski, on 08/17/2009, -3/+5http://www.duggmirror.com
- koregaonpark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2And where did you find out about this site from? BarCamp?
http://digg.com/software/A_neat_little_app_to_manage_iPod_notes_Mac_Win - mikev, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6I usually hide my porn folders via terminal (rename to .porn etc), but this makes it a lot easier
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2You can make a folder hidden by putting a . at the beginning of the directory in unix.
EX= ".porn folder" - jrkagan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1umm...are you running Mac OS X?
- Brajeshwar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I am definitely going to use the iPod Notes. I have downloaded ever since I submitted the story but have not used them yet (been in a barcamp all day)
- gabrigo, on 09/19/2009, -0/+1Very good applications. I use Clean text and English Italian, also use the iPhone Apps by this software house (iDatabase)
- mrTribal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I believe the retort goes along the lines of:
I'll have my cake and eat it too. - FluffyArmada, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Oh please. Encrypted disk images ftw. Then you use setFile -a V Image.dmg to hide them in the Finder. Then just open them in the Terminal, open Image.dmg. Then you can't find it with mdfind or spotlight.
EDIT: beaten to it... by 2 hours X( - macpaw, on 12/26/2008, -0/+0There is also good alternative from MacPaw, the MacHider http://www.macpaw.com/machider It is very easy to use and it supports password protection and some other grate stuff.
- Deegz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0secret folders with a dot prefix can be made visable by changing the finder preferences, or with some app like 'tinkertool' or one of the other thousand apps that can change this setting, so be careful those who hide stuff at work.
- broscup, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3"Meh... Better than that would be having a girlfriend or wife that's satisfying enough so that you don't actually need porn..."
Is there such a thing? - MacsBaine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@ firemillen2
Well, since you are looking under the Apple topic it is a place (or tool if you will) for Apple information. Personally though I buried it as spam. - maccode, on 11/30/2007, -0/+0other broadband mac utilities - http://www.maccode.org.uk

Downloading to Desktop....
Is that bad?? - SirG3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@FluffyArmada:
SetFile is only available when the OS X developer tools are installed. Plus any of these methods (except the encrypted disk image, which is the way to go) can be defeated by the hidden Finder preference to show hidden files... To do this, put this into terminal:
defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES - jmahler, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I can't open em either. I feel like a neube.
- Mushroonaut, on 07/11/2008, -1/+1downloaded photo address book and Spanish-English dictionary, but .dmg files won't open. Anyone having this problem?
- MikeOSX, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Spam or not... good find!
- jrkagan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1so jealous you are...
- sudoer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I use Apimac Slide Show to produce Mac and Windows presentations for my photos. Very powerful and easy to use.
