- gmoney1, on 11/19/2008, -3/+38Nicole Lapin is hot. (CNN reporter in the top right of the thumbnail)
- cgibbo, on 11/19/2008, -2/+27Learn. The majority of developers are self-taught.
- liesforliars, on 11/19/2008, -6/+29the geeks get the girls, and all the jocks are now living in a trailer with a beer gut... how times have changed...
- MedicalMatt, on 11/19/2008, -2/+25raise your hand if you googled NIcole Lapin
- snowcrazy, on 11/18/2008, -4/+25Geeks get all the cash...

I wonder if the IRS reads Digg... - credential101, on 11/19/2008, -0/+15What language is used to program games like this?
I've always been interested in programming, and took a C++ class back in high school; but with stuff like this I have no idea of where to begin. Can anyone help please? Thanks! - jemka, on 11/19/2008, -1/+15Congratulations, mother *****.
- MedicalMatt, on 11/19/2008, -2/+16lawsuit in 4.. 3.. 2..
- NaziHatinChimp, on 11/19/2008, -2/+16This was on digg a few months ago.
- algaeturd, on 11/18/2008, -3/+17Good for him being able to quit his job and hire some people...at least someone is making some cash these days.
- FaithclubDotNet, on 11/19/2008, -1/+14I made a game that uses colored triangles, but you need to form triangles with them. It looks almost the same. If you have a DOS emulator, you can download here: http://www.geocities.com/james_sager2/work/tri.zip
Its called Tri - ExRe, on 11/19/2008, -1/+13It's kinda sad how someone could make $250k off of a game that is so old and has been copied so many times it's almost comparable to tetris, then us real developers who even give applications out for free and only charge a minimal $5 fee for basic support get constant complaints from users saying that we are trying to rip them off.
- carl25, on 11/19/2008, -2/+14so basically he copied hexic's whole idea changed the size of the blocks and made 250k
amazing - placidified, on 11/19/2008, -0/+11i will just digg you up instead...
- manacit2, on 11/19/2008, -0/+11Objective-C: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Objective-C
- inactive, on 11/19/2008, -0/+11Wow you made that a really long time ago huh? DOS and geocities, the dynamic duo of the 90s. Thanks for sharing, I'll give it a try :D
- kylekrueg, on 11/19/2008, -1/+10maybe you should stop giving them away.
- ScottMitchell, on 11/19/2008, -1/+9Do your applications have colored shapes that can be rotated?
Didn't think so. - MedicalMatt, on 11/19/2008, -0/+8her forehead is ginormous... more like a 5-head or 6head.
- BlakeEM, on 11/19/2008, -0/+8only the good ones are...
- GothAlice, on 11/19/2008, -0/+7Though, really, you can use whatever language you want to write a game. The iPhone just uses Objective-C for everything.
- hoodmonkey, on 11/19/2008, -2/+9Yeah, clearly this guy's unoriginal weekend project trumps the years of R&D put into the iPhone, the OS and the App Store.
- inactive, on 11/19/2008, -3/+10don't hate, congratulate.
- haasim, on 11/19/2008, -0/+6What, nobody remembers Steve Balmer's "developers" chant?
- DangQuesadilla, on 11/19/2008, -2/+8I don't think geeks have ever lived in trailers with beer guts. They've always done reasonably well. Many former jocks I know are now lawyers. Miserable career serves them right. *****.
- SitPoMk, on 11/19/2008, -2/+8Never thought I'd hear that on digg
- placidified, on 11/19/2008, -3/+9at least his game will suck, not like you...sucking on *****
- aussieaubs, on 11/19/2008, -7/+12And so another Internet bubble begins to form.... waiting to burst!!
- ChromaVita, on 11/19/2008, -2/+7And none of the women.
- ducati9x, on 11/19/2008, -4/+9Too bad the game actually really sucks. Apple has a great system where you can't try any of the games out before hand. Turns everyone into a sucker.
- cthellis, on 11/19/2008, -0/+5...except developing and marketing the popular device he's selling it on, putting up the centralized network it's sold through, promo'ed it at a keynote, included it in some of THEIR marketing...
- Archon810, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4Obviously he never thought there would be a non-programmer. But yeah, there's no "makes me wish". If you wish, just do it, sit down and learn.
- rbohlig, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4Windfall Profits Tax anyone???
/s - mwalker05, on 11/19/2008, -7/+11and apple made $120,000 off of it for doing jack *****
- Kyan, on 11/19/2008, -0/+3Subjective-E is about to become the new word in programming.
After it matures, we should expect to see Subjunctive-J. - hoodmonkey, on 11/19/2008, -0/+3According to WikiPedia, revenue for the top 500 computer software companies was $451.8 billion. That's a rather large industry, so apparently this "freeware and open source stuff" (which are two very different concepts, btw) isn't 'better' to the people who can actually afford to buy software.
- 8270369, on 11/19/2008, -0/+3I am a geek but I live in a trailer and have a beer gut.
- cthellis, on 11/19/2008, -1/+4Um... Have you even seen Trism? I mean, puzzle games have a certain familiar format to them, but Trism plays rather unlike the "general clones" that are out there.
- imright, on 11/19/2008, -1/+4shawns, two years ago, I never touched server side code or practically any code for that matter. I'm 30. Today, I am a professional programmer, happy as can be making a decent income. I go to work early and stay late FOR FUN! Trust me when I say this, programming is not for everybody, but those of you who absolutely know logic and math inherently, and don't mind wearing jeans to work, Google some freaking tutorials and dive in head first. Let it spark a creativity you never thought you had! I'm a php guy, but going through this tutorial was easy to grasp and inspiring. IT'S JUST LOGIC.
- inyearstocome, on 11/19/2008, -0/+3thats a biiiiiiig if. In all likelyhood, he will be struggling again in a few years
- ronin510, on 11/19/2008, -0/+3Out of curiosity, would you give money to a friend who lost money from one of your ideas?
- solidus636, on 11/19/2008, -3/+6Be back in 10.
- animefx, on 11/19/2008, -0/+3Interesting bit of trivia for you: Steve is also known as "Demi" and he used to be a romhacker. One of his early projects was the english rom translation of Final Fantasy 2 for the japanese Famicom
- djlmnts, on 11/19/2008, -1/+4^ RESULTS NOT TYPICAL... some restrictions apply...
- jamshid, on 11/19/2008, -0/+3Objective-C is almost, but not quite, entirely unlike C++. [thx Hitchhiker's Guide]
This was helpful while learning it:
http://rentzsch.com/papers/loveHateObjC http://google-styleguide.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ ... - ScottMitchell, on 11/19/2008, -0/+3He's taking a risk for sure, but if he can keep making $125,000 per month he's got it made!
