- VermiciousKnid, on 07/09/2009, -0/+5Delicious library is giving them free advertising.
U can click on a link in the dvd info which directs to the dvd's page on amazon.
That equals sales. - RyomaNagare, on 07/08/2009, -3/+8Ok what can I say about Amazon, another company that does not get how to win money besides trying to replace all and every of your on-line needs with their own version.
the same way they won't ship outside of the US, except for a limited book catalogue.
Amazon, Twitter IMDB should license the use of their API and get their money from the developers.
God knows if I payed for tweetie on both desktop and iphone. i wouldn't mind a couple of that money went directly to the service provider.
I so wish I could boycott amazon. I'm sick of them screwing me and telling em my money isn't good.
Some free advice, learn how to profit from your current reality as a de-facto database of popular media. or be replaced by someone else. - factsahoy, on 07/09/2009, -1/+5What are they going to do about Web sites that access Amazon data, Web sites that are obviously accessible from mobile devices? Phones have FULL BROWSERS NOW, Amazon, so your efforts are doomed to failure.
Another company working hard to drive itself out of business, and show itself up as ignorant to boot. - urbanarson, on 07/09/2009, -2/+5This is *****. I understand that it's their information, but I've always found it very helpful. It's not as if this information is hidden or private, it's readily available on their site and they even provided an API for developers to provide easy access to their clients who will in turn use the information to buy stuff from Amazon which makes them money.
So I don't get it Amazon, do you think your share holders are going to be happy with this move seeing as how it's going to lose you profits? - satcomer, on 07/11/2009, -0/+2They link to Amazon and some people bought DVDs and such from Amazon. some over at amazon needs to fix their API legal code or they will start loosing sales from anyone on any mobile device. Sometimes these companies are so short sighted it is pitiful.
- MtheoryX, on 07/08/2009, -2/+4FTA: "...Head Monster Wil Shipley..."
Head monster? Really?? - Zippo, on 07/09/2009, -0/+2Hopefully Amazon updates their API to allow for mobile devices.
- NSResponder, on 07/09/2009, -0/+2Amazon's being stupid here. They were huge fans of Wil's when DL first came out, and parading it as an example of how to use their API. I have no idea what they hope to gain by making this arbitrary distinction between mobile devices and other computers, but I'm glad to see this negative publicity they're getting.
-jcr - Cybrwolf, on 07/09/2009, -0/+2This REALLY sucks! I'm glad I grabbed this before it was pulled.
- Thomasaka, on 07/09/2009, -2/+3So this app creates a visual representation of CD's and DVD's?! People actual use that? Who even owns CD's or DVD's anymore and for the few that do why do you need a visual of it on your computer instead of just looking at your bookshelf where they're stored?
- migitalwarfare, on 07/10/2009, -0/+1If you had bothered to read the article, you'd realize that Apple has nothing to do with DM pulling their app.
- aladrin, on 07/09/2009, -4/+5The developer should have honored his agreement with Amazon to use their API. That's all there is to it.
- white58, on 07/10/2009, -0/+0And books, devices, tools, software, toys, clothes... etc. Its an all round cataloging machine. Quite handy if your house burns down and you need a record for insurance purposes... or if you want to keep a record of people borrowing your stuff (and not returning it)... or if you just want a funky looking way of visualising your assets and what their current market value is.
Its not for everyone, but I find it useful. - spokenrope, on 07/09/2009, -2/+2Itchy runs afoul of an Irishman?
- williepepper, on 07/09/2009, -8/+3Of course.
That's because Apple's working on their own book reader and book store.
They're setting up they're dayacenter now.
It'll kill Amazon.
You'll see.
