- JavertHolmes, on 10/12/2007, -3/+88I have tears in my eyes. Reminds me of the time I proposed to my wife via my punchcard set. She gave her response by programming one of the older hard drives to bang its read head repeatedly with a certain timing to tilt itself over when I was in the office, revealing a "0x01" taped to the back of it. We got married with our hands tied by an ENIAC cable.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+85Somewhere right now Kevin Rose is uttering "*****, now I have to come up with something new..."
- PDelahanty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+72Unfortunately, others had also downloaded the widget and he is now engaged to 251 girls and 240 men.

- javip, on 10/12/2007, -6/+39Actually, a PC user would have gone out, bought the ring, taken her out to a nice place and proposed in person.
- dezmd, on 10/12/2007, -6/+28Shouldn't the last sentence of the summary instead read "Unfortunately for the sake of evolution, she said yes. ;)
Cheers. - DaffyDuck, on 10/12/2007, -4/+26Cute story. Congratulations to the two of you.
- tim507, on 10/12/2007, -5/+23good for you...but i honestly dont see proposing to my future wife through a widget as the right way to do it...sorry...
- therearenorules, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Next time click the link and read whatever has been submitted, so you don't seem like such an ignorant *****. He did propose in person, and if you read the blog entry that it was linked to, you would know it actually was a pretty good proposal.
I hope, if you ever ask a girl to marry you, you get rejected. In a really, really harsh fashion.
To bjorn: Congratulations man, I hope you two live happily ever after. - friend18, on 10/12/2007, -7/+21Exactly, no creativity.
- KSUdesigner, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16"Sadly, but not too sadly, I have to wait another 3 weeks for the ring because it is being custom designed in my hometown Corvallis, Oregon."
Good lord at least wait til you have the ring in hand to propose. - rgov, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Blogspot isn't being knocked offline any time soon. (Note: this is not a challenge.)
(Parent linked to duggmirror; the post has since been changed.) - lemonsensation, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10He saved a ton of money with a widget than a real diamond. Smart man. ;)
- Ellsass, on 11/05/2008, -0/+10"How many women write about how they were proposed to?"
Um, all of them? Women tell everyone their engagement story to anyone who will listen. - KyleMistry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9"(Note: this is not a challenge.)"
I accept your challenge, VILLAIN! - pintomp3, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12big hairy guy pretending to be a women, do you take the big hairy guy?
- gameface247, on 10/12/2007, -25/+34Worst. Proposal. Ever.
- DaffyDuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8They were in their car after a romantic dinner and a walk. In other words, it was in person. Try reading the article.

- jman8888, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9wow thats kinda weird..Cool though but thats odd..
- rccgd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6You can now break up the engagement via IM.
j/k Congrats! - flyhunnie7, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8boo to all you haters; i think this is cute! It shows personality and it's not some lame, conventional, tired, boring route.
Congrats!!! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I proposed to my (now ex) fiancee on stage at the Saxon Pub in Austin, TX. It was in between sets of the band (friends of ours) that was playing that night.
I think she'd have shot me if I proposed to her using a computer. She thought I spent too much time on it as is. - DaffyDuck, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9You may digg down my previous comment for stupidity.
- nadadingsda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6He told her his password.. that's a sign of true love.
- dasluvaluva, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It takes a special girl to appreciate an engagement like that.
Then again, half of the guys I know proposed in a restaurant. Jackasses. - dmurray14, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Wow, I don't even know what to say....that's very....original...
Congrats - jstene, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5...You had me at "Dashboard Widget"
- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5That makes my eyes bleed.
- BGFeltenink, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Thank you! I can't believe how many idiots come in here looking for a chatroom but don't have any interest in reading the article!
- kiantech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I asked this girl to formal by ripping a dvd, adding in my own little video, burning it, and making a label so that when we were watching it cut into my video asking her.
- BGFeltenink, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Digg javip down, not up! He did propose in person you idiot! READ THE ARTICLE!!! WTF do you idiots come in here for when you have NO interest in the ***** topic?!
- Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Just say yes dammit!
- olddirtycr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Many people propose using some kind of item they both enjoy, in this case its computers. What's the problem?
- BGFeltenink, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yeah, huhhuhhuh, he could have taken her out to a nice dinner with the stars, a beautiful evening, and a nice time down at the docks. Oooh wait! HE DID.
Her own words from the article you mouth breathers refuse to read:
"At this point the night was incredible with the moon and stars shining, and standing with the water surrounding us, and the reflection of the lights floating all around. After a short kiss I told Bjorn I was going to remember this night forever."
I'm halfway tempted to just give up on this so-called Digg community. - BGFeltenink, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Come on, the proposal wasn't JUST the laptop thing. He took her to beautiful restaurant, a boat on the water.... wonderful evening and she loved every last minute of it! Then he surprised her with something she wouldn't have expected (girls LOVE surprises like that) and then formally proposed in his own words.
The widget was a very minor bullet point in the evening and something that will easily be more memorable than a simple, "will you marry me" coming out of nowhere in a less romantic environment.
For the record, I proposed with a card trick. But it was a very well-thought out card trick with a few surprises and twists. She loved it. In the end, that's all that matters. - jonshipman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I know an auto mechanic who proposed by giving his to-be a toy car that had the ring in it.
- MF03, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Pretty cool, but really if I were to propose to someone I love, I'd think of something a little more personal.
- Scott2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oh, you're canadian. That explains it.
- KyleMistry, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I don't think that using "nerd" as a negative thing really works on a TECH NEWS SITE.
Imbecile. - KyleGoetz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Just to add my voice to the sea of congratulatories: Way to go, man!
- obijohn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2She left out the part where she said: "Tell you what. Why don't you just hold on a bit while I make a widget of us having sex."
