- TeqnoHaxor, on 10/12/2007, -4/+72LOL, even if that's been faked, it's still amusing :-)
- lopresmb, on 10/12/2007, -5/+73of all the possible bugs out there, this one seems to be the most entertaining
- Syndrome, on 10/12/2007, -2/+65When did digg implement the thumbnail for flickr images too? Nice feature..
- theone3, on 10/12/2007, -3/+34"This is both plausible and easily faked."
If you want to write a comment, you can't be indecisive about your conclusion. Except when you can. - john570, on 10/12/2007, -8/+39I think I am staying with V 6 for a bit longer.
- garg, on 10/12/2007, -6/+32You dummies, That's a feature!!
- theone3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19I can make a video of the screenshot if you'd like...
- liilliil, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16Not fake at all - i had the same on my iBook G3 500 too
on PowerMac G4 all ok - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15"Its a feature, not a bug"
- ripter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Oh its a BUG! That's what shows up on my iTunes and I was like "That's the stupidest feature ever!"
- Striss, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15It's definitely not fake, mine is like that too, it's kinda freaky and hypnotic.
- thomasprebble, on 10/12/2007, -7/+18If your gonna screw something up on your implementation at least make it less visual. Looks like abit of a rush job on Apples part.
- hogrod, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11I had something like this happen after the upgrade, it was when trying to play video's. I wasn't to happy but the issue went away after a restart, guess I should have restarted like the installer asked.
- alephsmith, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12@Ireland- This isnt an episode of Mythbusters.
- CeeAyy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Did the Yankees ever lose a game? Did Jordan ever miss a free throw? Babe Ruth strike out? Did Apple ever make a product that was less than stellar? Yes. Were they still great?
Let's see... iTunes 7 has issues on older machines... all of a sudden people are saying Apple sells shoddy computers... lol. Think for a second. People are having small problems on G3 machines...(and others too) and only for SOME people... How many generations old are G3 machines? They are running the latest software with MINOR problems for a FEW people. I really don't know, but is ANYONE using a windows machine from the same time period to run iTunes 7? How many people are even still using windows machines from that time with ANY recent software? How many people are even using windows machines from that time at all? I still have my G3 tower from 1997 and my iBook from 2001 along with my G5. They all work fine. In a moment I am going to add a Mac Pro. Apple computers actually have resale value... Can you say the same for old Dells or IBM machines? I can sell my G3 for $500. Can anyone sell an IBM machine from '97 for at least $400? No.
BTW, NOBODY claims that ANY computer is bug/virus/trouble free. The FACT still remains that Apple computers have far less problems, less than a handful of viruses, and the OS's are much easier to use. Oh, and for those that hate Apple... yes, they look good too. I know how you claim that looks are the main/only interest for anyone who buys Apple. I didn't want to disappoint. I like how they look too.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that they are a better value (less expensive) than comparably equipped pc's. FACT. - ripter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I'm sorry, but I get the same thing on my iBook with iTunes 7
It's real, and I have over 6,700 songs on mine. - DocDEB, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Saw the same thing on my G4 TiPowerBook plus the sad old Rage M3 8MB just can handle the screen redraws in iTunes 7. Had to backgrade to 6. I'm a bit overdue for a new portable Mac.
- leobaby, on 10/12/2007, -7/+12Jeez, get a new ***** laptop already: ATI Rage M3 8Mb
- alwaysmc2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8I think that was a joke. :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Hello Hello, (Hola), Welcome to a place called Vertigo.
- gotamd, on 10/12/2007, -7/+11I think they should rename it iTunes 0.7...
- dbr_onix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Shame, it looks cool.. Utterly pointless, but I want it
- Ben - h3xley, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5It's a bug that only seems to affect the ATI rage 128 chipset (as used in the G3 imacs, older ibooks and Ti powerbook 400/500). Also note that coverflow didn't support this either (it specifically said in the readme)
- alej744, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I second ingraham's comment.
- aaryn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Lots of the times thats because the track numbers are wrong, or the cd number is wrong. If you look in Get Info make sure all the tracks are on CD 1 of 1 and are all part of a compilation (at the bottom) it has to be the same for all tracks or they will be grouped incorrectly. That's what happens when people don't fill out all the tags properly (ie pirated mp3s)
- titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Right after I submitted the story I noticed it.
- geezusfreeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This is due to a shortage of video memory. I used to develop games a lot, and would run into this exact same kind of bug with my game textures when I overloaded the VRAM.
- igraham09, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6that is probably the most retarded thing i have ever heard...
- kalmi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm getting all my Podcasts duplicated all the time.(Windows)
I have to delete dups manually.
annoying too - uptown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I've had a bunch of ITunes 7 problems, including songs not appearing in the list of tracks from an album ... compilations not grouping properly ... and best of all, twice it BSOD'd my machine, something that hadn't happened for two years before installing this pile of crap.
The problem is, Apple gave themselves a hard deadline since they wanted to unveil their movie store. They were forced to release iTunes 7 whether it was ready or not, because it was tied to the new hardware and the new store content. So it was rushed ... and anyone that's upgraded is now getting what they paid for.
What I'd like to know is ... I purchased some new music through iTunes 7. If I roll back to iTunes 6, will those tracks still be playable? - TheSilencer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If by holding out you mean; "works just fine, I love the new iTunes" then yes.
- GregoryHarbin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yes, this is real. It's been happening to me on my six-year-old PowerBook G3 500 Mhz. It appears to be a problem with only older Mac laptops, so I'm not too worried. Just put album art in there, and you don't see it anymore.
- Quix, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5"Their was a story yesterday about how Amazon in the UK accidentally put Apple as the maker of the Zune."
And flag564 cried like a little girl when he saw the hated Apple brand next to his beloved Zune. - pidge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Since I installed iTunes 7, it keeps deleting my Podcasts (Windows). I'll be syncing my iPod and it keeps giving every couple of times saying that it could not find certain files, which are Podcasts. I check the directory and yes, the whole Podcast directory is gone. I go into iTunes and delete the Podcast subscription and then re-subscribe. Very annoying.
- fishingfury, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thats interesting and all. But I can't even close iTunes7 without it crashing! Seriously everytime!
- quazywabbit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Most of the bugs affect Windows systems and Audio. Which one would guess would be fixed soon. My guess is that Apple forgot to test the windows version thoroughly.
- RossH, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This must happen on older hardware, the same happens on my iMac G3 (Rage 128 or something along those lines for graphics).
It really does happen, once the artwork loads, which takes on average, about 2 or 3 seconds they are replaced with what their supposed to be. - jbenson2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Kevin Rose said this was the best iTune release yet. I guess he did not look at all the bugs. And considering his Diggnations connections, one would think he would have checke out the incredibly poor downgrade Apple did to screw the podcast listeners.
- gerkin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yes same on an imac DV400 here.
- Doofy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It does exactly the same thing on my G3/500 Pismo.
- PsychoPNut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1agreed that it's awesome looking.... but imagine if iTunes played every song in your library at the same time... that would be just f'n' crazy awesome!
- rauz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My guess is this has something to do with video overlay, the coverflow function seems to be adapting it somehow...
I discovered this when I used Fraps (on Windows) to record how it works... - FRAGaLOT, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2So I guess these problems are with both the Windows and Mac versions of iTunes?
- beatmonger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Glancing over the comments, it looks like this is happening on a lot of 500 mhz laptops. My ancient iBook is one of them too.
Of course it runs fine on my newer desktop machine. - stark23x, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1All of the way iTunes displays on a screen in Windows needs to be re-written. Every bug is related to GDI or display drivers or re-drawing.
It's truly awful the way it is now. This happened back around 4,something too, the actual drawing of windows was a mess. - skidooer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11. I have three songs in my library. Does that make my iTunes a fake too?
2. It's clearly cropping the image. It's a bug and it's probably overlaying the wrong image after the scaling code has been applied.
3. They look about right to me. The CoverFlow slider starts underneath the O in "One Up" in all the images that I'm able to make out. - obezyana, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There's no bugs in Windows software, either… according to MS commercials.
- ibolt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@ alwaysmc2
Hint... - Z_Man, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Wonder what kind of crazy code Apple put in that's somehow causing that? Heh. Funny
