- guytoronto, on 10/12/2007, -6/+43Rumors ≠ News
- monkeybutler, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19I just got a blackbook recently. If they upate the chip i could live with it. If they update the graphics card i'll drive off a cliff (with macbook in hand).
- longofest, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Just a reminder that this is a page 2 rumor, which for MacRumors means that it may be less reliable than our other rumors. So don't loose sleep tonight over this one.
That being said, the fact that we published the report at all says something (and there was actually a few other reports that we couldn't publish that help to corroborate the idea that we may see an update tomorrow).
Either way, In 12 hours we'll know. - thoughtfulclown, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18tomorrow = today
- vertigoblue, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10@ grondin
yeah, but thats not intel core 2 duo... - davidod87, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12Awesome. If this is true, this will be my first Mac - and I'll have one sooner than I expected.
- kuwan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Since this was posted yesterday and it is now today then it appears that we aren't going to see updated MacBooks today.
- mingistech, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8"That's is BECAUSE there is no 64-bit OSX yet...."
BIZZ! Wrong.
http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/64bit/ - tehJR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7lol, you think Apple rolls out updates in local time zones?
- Dudshot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9This will be my first mac also.
- trylleklovn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7First update made it cooler to prevent some random shutdowns..
Second update made it ignore the shutdown security that made the macbook shut down, which has completely removed the random shutdown issue.
Now because Steve is not fond of noisy machines, the macbook was returned to it's original fan usage :)
If you feel that is too hot, you can use the application called smcFanControl to adjust it. - cubs2234, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7man i wish i had money
- bmobile, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7andydumi: you apparently not understand that you can UNCHECK apple news from digg and then you won't ever have to see it again OR make annoying comments about it. thanks!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I sure hope so, along with dedicated graphics, bigger HD (at least 80 GB), and 1 GB of RAM base would be nice.
- idesign, on 10/12/2007, -1/+664bit processing.
- wush, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6They don't need an even faster CPU. Get a half decent graphics chip in there!
- Schda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Same here, I'd like to get one for doing a bit of coding on the go and playing WoW while house-sitting for other people. I like the small form factor and some other WoW players tell me that the core duo macbooks play it well already so I know it will be even better with the core 2 duos. I'm sorely tempted to get a refurbed macbook pro, but if the regular macbooks come core 2 duo it will be right in my price point and form factor. I'll have to buy one right after Christmas (waiting till then to see if I can finagle one as a present :) ).
- ExSlashdotter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Agreed. the stock 512 just simply doesn't cut it running Office under Rosetta. (I'm a sysadmin for a mac-based company).
- friend18, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4What would be the difference between a 2.0 ghz core duo and a 2.0 ghz core 2 duo???
- foolfromhell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The MacBook w/ 2GB RAM and 120GB HDD costs more than the MacBook Pro with 2GB RAM and a 120GB HDD. Whats the deal? I calculated with a college discount. This is probably the deal with no discount. Why is it so expensive?
- stonyhill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3double the cache, from 2mb to 4mb, at least for the 7000 series (C2D 2.0ghz and up)
- pkulak, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7You mean add one? Because there's no graphics card in the BlackBook.
- wheelsee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@Ombligotron
go back and re read the post....

there now don't you feel dumb? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Yeah I just bought a MacBook a few weeks ago. An upgrade to core2duo doesn't bother me too much but if they add a dedicated graphics card I'll be bummed
- nixfu, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9That's is BECAUSE there is no 64-bit OSX yet....
Besides, what chipset in the world limits what instructions the processor can run? Jezz. - Lynxpro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3
I want one, but I really would like a MacBook Pro with a 13" screen. The added videocard and the ExpressCard slot (for Edge or EVDO cards) are kinda important in my book.
Maybe the new MacBooks will have the pre-N wifi chips in them just as the new iMacs and MacBook Pros have. - JimXugle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Core 2 Duo Mini Plx?
- stmiller, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Kuwan you couldn't be more wrong.

64bit IS enabled.
Edit: mingistech: I think he means FULLY 64bit. (aka. 10.5) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You should drive off a cliff of for paying 150 bucks extra for nothing but a black finish. Oh, and for a +20 GB HDD that isn't worth $150 anyway.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+264 bit is enabled, blah, blah... Not for GUI apps. The first genuine 64 bit release will be Leopard.
- koick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@thoughtfulclown: yeah, and they aren't here... YAMP (yet another missed prediction)
- bluemist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I saw an online Japanese site of a popular technology store chain pull out their white Macbook offerings. There's only the black Macbook available in them. This was about a day after Apple released Macbook Pro with C2D. Dunno about their actual stocks in stores though.
- mobilehavoc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I can't wait for these to come out so I can buy a refurb and/or heavily discounted Core 2 MacBook for my sis.
Thank god for their rather retardly fast product refresh cycles! - Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Not to mention a better chip altogether... 45°C at full load? Hells yes.
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Well, people were right about the Macbook Pro... here's hoping they're right about the Macbook.
- bsdbudha, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3a macbook with core 2 duo would be great, and a great time to upgrade, we have been waiting for this....
but wait, santa rosa, the chipset with fast fsb and flash firmware drives, etc, etc, is coming out in Q1 of 07, as is Leopard. so why not wait until then! I swear, its like chasing the rabbit at the dog races, you will never catch it, but a laptop. - pinky24, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh boy, another apple rumor on digg, I hope THIS one comes true
not that it wouldn't be ausome - mikewhalley, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2As nice as it would be to see C2D MacBooks, other than them being 64bit and slightly faster/efficient, I feel the savvy buyer would do better to wait for a week or so after they are released and snap up a refurb from the Apple Refurb Store. After all, chances are they will be pretty much brand new as most people who buy MB's within 2 weeks prior to the announcement of the new version will probably choose to send it back and cough up the 10% restocking fee for the new version. Oh and let's not forget there being a pile of new (older model) MBs that haven't been sold and come back from resellers.
So (in my rather useless opinion)... there may be some real refurb bargains to be had. If and when they do announce a revised C2D version :-) - zonk3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I dunno, Apple has a historical tendency to release or announce on Tuesdays not so much on Thursdays. BTW, Opera does Tuesdays too interestingly (haven't got a clue why though).
- panique, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'm thinking Apple is going to milk the Pro line for a while before upping the plain-old 'Book to C2D.
- themastersb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've seen sites saying Nov 13
- Derfus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3why does this end up on the front page of digg?
its a day old, and the rumor is false (as always rom the hacks at macrumors) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's about bling-bling!
- Boondoggle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@guytoronto:
"Rumors ≠ News"
Digg ≠ News - agentstewie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wonder why it takes apple soo long to support newer hardware....
I have a feeling its because they only want to support new hardware. like the SSE2/SSE3 demand from apple for there mac.
well i guess its good they finally support core 2 duos though. i bought my laptop instead of a apple because it doesnt have core 2 duo and its not worth the wait. - Boondoggle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"You should drive off a cliff of for paying 150 bucks extra for nothing but a black finish. Oh, and for a +20 GB HDD that isn't worth $150 anyway."
Right, because your life is not worth more than $150...
Just curious, did you buy the cheapest possible car that fit your needs completely without concern for the appearance? - Boondoggle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Grab yourself an Etch-A-Sketch and paint it white. You could have the first Apple Tablet.
- BrickSprickly, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Hey, I was being mostly serious. That would be sweet and it would actually make up for the ***** I've gone through with this laptop. It was actually a compliment to Apple (backhanded as it may be)--who else gives people free hardware upgrades?
- JimXugle, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1go buy a dell and be done with it.
