- iSEPIC, on 10/12/2007, -41/+87What a ripoff! "TubeSock costs $15. Until you register, TubeSock will convert only the first 30 seconds of a video."
Get a PC and do it for free:
Get the URL of the video you want.
DL the video from: www.keepvid.com
Then convert that file in Super (http://www.erightsoft.net/Superdc.html) to iPOD format.
100% FREE - wpholmes, on 10/12/2007, -4/+34Actually, you don't need to stoop do getting a PC, just download iSquint!
www.isquint.org - Dinosaurus, on 10/12/2007, -4/+23That's what I was going to say. iSquint is great and it's free.
- yongfook, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19doesn't iSquint do this for free??
http://www.isquint.org/
It converts any flv movie (the youtube format) to iPod format. and has done so for a long time. for free. - computerdude33, on 10/12/2007, -6/+17The Mac Way:
1. Download the video from Keepvid.
2. Convert to iPod H.264 with ffmpegX.
Done. - wpholmes, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14I disagree, I can almost always find a well made piece of freeware to solve any problem.
Maybe there aren't as many apps available, but I do feel that they are of higher quality. - Dmatias, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15bad link
http://www.erightsoft.net/SUPER.html#Dnload
this will let you download it. i spent 15mins trying to find the download link - titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11@kajoob, http://www.freemacware.com/
- kajoob, on 10/12/2007, -7/+16As a windows->mac convert, I must say that the worst part of the mac world is that all the cool little unifunction programs usually cost money. I'm never goin' back, but damn, can a brotha get some freeware?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10How come only Mac apps have super cool names?
- cmer, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14I want ALL THE TUBES (aka: the internet) on my ipod, not just youtube!
- idioteque1025, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Or you could just follow the FREE directions in this months wired...
View the video with Safari
Check the Activity Monitor and download and rename the video file
Drag the renamed video file into FREE iSquint converter (www.isquint.org) - grayapple, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Yeah - cause Apple use WAY too many 'i', like iSafari, iQuicktime and we one we all know and love - iStickies.
- patnakajima, on 10/12/2007, -8/+12You buy this for the same reason you buy a mac. You don't feel like relying on work arounds and you don't have a problem paying extra to avoid the hassle.
Convenience = $ - jet3004, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5http://www.macrecon.com/2006/07/28/the-easy-way-to-get-youtube-videos-into-your-ipod/
I actually didn't know it was THIS simple. - powerf00, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Unifunction? Why not AppleScript it up yourself (or at least try)? It's easy, good to know and it'll save you TONS of time later on. It's a lot different from any programming in the windows world if you've been turned off by it. But yea, as a switcher this summer I agree there needs to be more freeware for mac. I'm writing a couple of apps now headed for macupdate.
- deepdish, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3You guys are harsh. If you read the authors FAQ, he is just learning to program. I can't program squat, I wish I could. At least he is learning something new. Now, can I do it on my mac with other software for free yes. Will I buy his software, no. But I am impressed by anybody, mac or pc people, that can program.
- shmatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2wow, that site is.... really lame. kid must about 13.
what a waste of time. thanks for nothing - mucnix, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4MAC=Media Access Control

http://www.macyoutubeconverter.com - grayapple, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Works quite well, I use it for the very few videos on YouTube I want to have a "hard copy" of.
- jigga, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I kind of feel the same way. Alot of these really cool small apps that I find for the Mac, like PathFinder and Delicious Library, always have a cost involved. But if they are good, i have no trouble dropping a couple dollars.
- EvilDude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A windows program that converts youtube to iPod in one step and more..

I've been downloading them this way for about 4 months now, except I use iSquint. Good tip. - wowzzz, on 09/23/2008, -0/+0If you want to install iPod Video Converter you can follow this guide: http://www.mconverter.net

convert it to a quicktime movie file with http://www.isquint.org/ - twinprism, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This may work for super, it may be random.. bury this if it doesn't work for you because it took me 15 minutes to find it too
http://www.erightsoft.net/S5E01.html
I go there from the main page.. but half the time it redirects to the "features" page.
http://www.erightsoft.net/ - eonicman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Of course, VLC can play the flv file without conversion for viewing on your computer. Hopefully iTunes will be upgraded to include flv support in the future.
- blurplevtx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1KeepVid sucks, TubeSock rocks..
- convert123, on 07/19/2008, -0/+0Mac free flv player and flv converter for mac:
http://www.swfflvconverter.com/flv-player-for-mac. ...
http://www.swfflvconverter.com/flv-converter-for-m ... - 1024k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have written some similar bookmarklets and greasemonkey scripts. Since I don't own a Mac, though, I can't tell wether the bookmarklets work on Safari, but they do on Mozilla, Firefox and Opera.
Have a look if you like:
http://1024k.de/bookmarklets/video-bookmarklets.html - eonicman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Isn't it easy enough to have the Activity window open then watch for the flv file loading, then double click on it while holding the Option key. In your download window, click on the show in finder icon. Drag resulting file to iSquint, the free video to iPod converter for MacOSX.
- diggn_it, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1yeah, this is a big rip. I just use Dowload Them All extension for Firefox and Isquint too. Works fine.
- jaredratherswim, on 08/12/2008, -0/+0I used vixy.net to download some youtube videos however, I get no sound when I download the video! I have emailed the support line twice a month ago and they have not responded.
For an alternative I tried keepvid as well but I only received an error message. Anyone have an answer? - batfan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you all want content from Youtube, iFilm, GoogleVideo and all the others,
use KeepVid!!! This site enables you to download all the material from video sites!!!
http://keepvid.com/
For Youtube files put .flv extension and use iSquint to convert to mpeg.
Enjoy!!! - baraqiyal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Have you actually tried this? I tried this myself just now to see but as expected, it doesn't work. But you can convert the .flv file to .avi with Total Video Converter. It's the only free way to do it that I know of.
http://www.effectmatrix.com/total-video-converter/index.htm - xistboi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Just thought credit is due, where credit is due. Guess, I thought wrong, not plugging myself in the least.
