- SvobodaIT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Conan needs the extra money for his hairstylist. Gotta keep that thing under control somehow.
- jeff4379, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You bunch of dipshiats, it's not gouging because you're not forced to buy it.
- autoawesomeon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It is not $9.99 an episode. The only two Conan videos that are $9.99 are both hour long specials that are available on dvd for the same price - give or take a few bucks depending where you shop. If you think about it, an episode of Lost is $1.99 - there is 22 episodes in a season, so to buy all episodes of Lost through iTunes, it'd cost roughly $44 - which is around the cost most full season dvd sets cost.
The rest of the Conan clips are $1.99. Sure, they are not full episodes, but are highlights. It's not like these clips are re-run on tv or available on dvd. If someone wants to pay a couple bucks to not have to record, rip and edit some highlights themselves, then they can just get a grande coffee that day rather than a venti. - stilesja, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How does Conan have more production value than Lost? It doesn't. There is no reason for an hour of Conan to cost ten bucks.
I'd sooner pay for Jimmy Kimmel anyway. - sedition, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks but I'll wait until there's a video version of http://allofmp3.com/
- pierre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A few people MIGHT have payed 1.99 for a show. But 9.99 is way too steep and they will sell nothing now. Greedy idiots. This is free TV we are talking about here.
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ok, ok, ok, hold on everyone. This pricing structure appears to be for special Conan shows, not the normal, every day stuff. He's not doing new episodes right now, so they don't have new episodes to put up. I expect the price to drop down to $2 a show once new ones hit
- slowth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1tehJR, thank you.
- ZicklePop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was wondering the same thing, only reason I see is it's based off DVDs not Conans night shows. This is still bull crap. $4.99 a dvd at the most expecially since you can't burn it to a DVD.
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Any true conan fan knows they can go to www.nbc.com/conan and get all the best stuff for free. Who wants to watch the interviews anyway.
- DamnedEyez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1$2 is too much for a music video even. Remember when they used to be Promotions to sell a record?
That said, I wouldn't even download Triumph for free, but that's just personal taste. I don't think NBC quite gets it. - tippern, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.latenighttorrents.com/forum/
once again, a company forces fans to find a free version when
people would be happy to pay a FAIR price. - atdigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A good price for me to POOP ON!
- jimmyM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0before this was available from itunes, i bet you could have bought conan's rights for millions and millions of dollars from nbc. was that gouging too?
basically everything in the world has a price. there is a difference between "not worth it to me" and "gouging". - Moose_Head, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Lets see, night out at a blockbuster movie was expensive, this is insane!!!
- utopiaoverip, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ridiculous, it doesnt matter if you can get the dvd for that price, that is something that you actually can have, this download is very restricted
http://www.utopiaoverip.com/?p=99 - LinkinJunior, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't think Conan had a major say on this.
- skwhirl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0[[ also: is everyone sitting at home waiting for the chane to use "price-gouging" in a sentence? ]]
LoL! After the hurricane there wasn't a day went by I didn't hear someone saying it. Although around here it's used as as an intransitive like "'a gougin 'em prices fer 'at ____"
+Digg at any rate. I got a chuckle out of it. - bloatedcat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If people are prepared to pay that sort of price then why not? I suspect that people are not and so the producers will reduce the price until a sweet spot is reached where volume*price is optimal. Consumers still have a choice and no one is strong arming anyone into buying there show.
- jimmyM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"once again, a company forces fans to find a free version when

not that i have anything against stealing. but i certainly havent been "forced" to do anything. is merely providing a product the same as forcing you to consume it? yunno the media companies have no responsibility to provide you with anything. when i steal media, i do it because i want it, not because i was forced. - fugitivALiEN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's NOT episodes of Conan, it is specials such as the anniversary "best of" kind of "clip" shows that are on DVD. If the episodes were available i might get them when my favorite guests are on the show for an hour at $1.99 but $9.99 doesn't somehow translate or even come close =/
- elvisisdead, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1What a crock. NBC can stick it. He's not that good.
- boreddusty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The comments are the best part of this. No digg though.
- mjar81, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have YET to buy any videos off ITMS.
Although i DO own stock in apple so it's in my best interest that people don't realize they're being ripped off here... c'mon people! don't you know a good deal when you see one? Go buy those shows!!! - scottythebody, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Now, I'd pay $9.99/month for ALL episodes of that show, if I had time to watch it.
- Darthpip, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Uh, whoa. I just noticed that. Screw that.
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Holy *****. Does NBC actually expect people to buy the show? I mean, after a week of buying the show at $9.99 a show, you could have bought a good quality VCR and tapes and just recorded it off the air. Seriously, for that price I expect Conan to come to my house and personally deliver the monologue
- aliasunknown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The Battlestar Galactica miniseries averages to about $4 per episode. Jay Leno is $2 for ~5 minutes. That's all I've bothered looking at.
Wasnt NBC going to sell their stuff for $1 w/ adds and have it deauthorize itself in a week?
Doesn't Apple make like $50 per iPod sold? I'm fairly sure their profits weren't considerably high for the Nano. - digikill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Is there a shortage of "free" crap on TV? Is the experience somehow better on a tiny screen? I just don't understand why someone would pay for the experience of watching crap on a tiny screen.
/Also do not understand why someone would pay for ringtones or text jokes / messages. - Madgoldfish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Its $9.99 because they have those videos released as DVD, 10th anniversary and best of triumph, if they made um $1.99, who would buy the DVD. Its just business guys.
- iFindout, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0NBC just proved they're funnier than Conan O'Brien himself. If they'd send me some of his shows on dvd's, I'd use them as coasters. The man's now funny at all. Seriously.
- igrp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great. When you're licensing your content under the condition that your licensee must charge a bazillion dollars per hour you might just as well not license it at all.
- tehJR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this is seriously getting old people..
Here's an idea.. stop complaining, go outside and forget about it. Stop complaining and don't buy it. It's pretty simple. I think these companies are doing a great job of starting something new and fresh. - kevbryant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0also: is everyone sitting at home waiting for the chane to use "price-gouging" in a sentence?
- silverstrike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yea, I'll second that nsxrox. Pricing mistakes happen. Something tells me that Apple and NBC wouldn't pick Conan, a show they let Comedy Central re-run, to test a new 10x price increase scheme.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0umm...TiVo 2 Go?
- ajamison, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What's with all the Conan-haters? Damn! He's the funniest guy on late night.
The price is high, but there's absolutely no way he was involved with this decision. - panique, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I dunno, I thnk Triumph is worth $1.99 per session
- kevbryant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hahahaha what a joke
- injekted, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0TIVO, transfer, burn, and go
- pfunked, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0sedition, allofmp3.com used to offer music videos (it was 1 penny per meg for video and music back in that day). The quality wasn't that great, but most videos costed under a buck. Don't know why they stopped with the videos.
- looseBits, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Its not price gouging unless its something you have to have (e.g. gasoline). If Conan isn't worth that much to you, don't buy it.
- panique, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I agree with tehJR. What is this, the bitchosphere?
- sych0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0im pretty sure the price is based on the fact that its out on dvd
- MarkZahn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"$2 is too much for a music video even. Remember when they used to be Promotions to sell a record?"
Come on, haven't you been listening to the record companies? No one's buying records anymore. How else are they supposed to make money unless they start charging you to see the promotional materials? ;)
Still, no way I'm paying $2 a pop for individual shows. Show me a reasonably priced subscription option and I'd consider it. - playastation, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Conan is the best show on tv.. buaha
- MissionSix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ITMS - $9.99...
tvtorrent.info - priceless. - coolcoolglasses, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Seems a tad steep to me.
- suMMx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this whole itunes thing is retarded, dvr/tivo for the win and torrents own buying ***** rips or shows on itms
- bipto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's a test. If you don't like it, don't buy it and the price will go down. Buy it, and it won't.
