- stmiller, on 10/12/2007, -2/+31Good interview. I hate news people who have no clue about the industry of focus for their shows, though. That reporter was a real jerk.
- big65rich, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17The loop rumors guy blanked big time - all he had to say was that the interface would be much better but he blanked probably cause he was pissed at the jerk of an interview and lost his train of thought.
The mac rumors guy nailed it. - longofest, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19We've got a lot of people in the MacRumors forum saying similar sentiments about the interviewer. But in the end, I was really impressed with how Arn came off. His thoughts were coherent and I think he explained himself well, and he didn't go diving off into some of the more wild rumors about the iPhone. Therefore, he was well received, and came off well.
It's harder than you may think to do those things when you're on national TV... - JBSherman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17Did he call it the Ipad? 95% lack of market saturation? Great argument. Bentley Motors has a 99.999% lack of market saturation, are they a failure too??
- DeezKnots, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15That reporter was a ***** stick.
- vniow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14You shouldn't have to use WMP or Flip4Mac, the video was Flash.
- JohnClay, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14That host is an *****....
- Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Agreed Arn came off well, and to the looprumors guys defense Arn had a little more time to think about his answer.
Nobody really truly knows what features the iPhone will have, but judging by Apple recent product history, you can bet your bottom dollar it will be easier to use than all the other phones available today. If Apple comes into a new industry they not only try to do somthing different, but they try to do it better. Though their main goal is always ease of use. - neut, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Arn handled the interview well. A great spot for MacRumors and certainly established cred amongst attentive CNBC watchers. The host is quite the asswipe, but I would expect nothing less from a CNBC interviewer.
- chrisrad, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Yeah the reporter is a dork, just because Apple only has 5% of the total market, he does not realise that so does Dell, HP, etc only have a similar percentage. Perhaps when comparing operating system market share yes he has a point, but in hardware sales, he's WAY off.
- Phatlip012, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10I thought it was a pretty crappy interview actually. I think the reporter was pretty set on the idea that "Apple is "cool" and thats all they got going for them. He asked what made the iPhone so good and they tried telling them about different innovation coming from the supposed iPhone and he kept saying "yea its cool and all but what makes it so good" totally ignoring what they were saying.
BTW this show is on MSNBC right? If not it sure seems like it is with an interview like this - andrew52, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7The interviewer guy is an IDIOT
- jimoneildmb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Just once it would be nice to see a "journalist" do a little preparation before an interview, especially if its a subject he is not that fluent in. This guy aparently thought he knew what he was talking about because he had used a telephone before, and even successfully checked his email a few times. Heck, he was practically an expert. To say that Apple's computers have not been successful, particularly as of late, just shows that he didn't know what he was talking about. He could have spent 15-20 minutes looking at Apple's fiscal data over the last couple of years and he would have seen consistently increasing growth. Or he could have checked the f*@#ing stock from today. 95% of computers aren't Apples. Does anyone think that this guy even has a clue what an operating system is?.. I can't wait for the iPhone, and I still hope it isn't called that, because I want one and to make this guy look like that much more of an ass. Apple wouldn't be making it if all it did was the same stuff other products on the market today do. In conclusion... the single clearest thought I had during that interview was that I hoped that guy's fat head exploded.
- AJMuni, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Yea Arn did a real good job..Such a classy guy..
- fvjohnson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The reporter was an idiot, attempting to mask his lack of market knowledge by talking over his interviewees. I hate that... very Cross-Fire-ish.
- joepaterno, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Is *anyone* going to admit that Bob Ward made a complete ass of himself? I mean, seriously. It was almost hard to watch.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Anyone wanna Youtube it? WMP and Flip4Mac sucks.
- badtz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4What a *****, the interviewer!
- skell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Battery issues would be hard enough for a hybrid phone right now. Not to mention the whole iPod aspect of the phone. As much as I'd love to see this happen, I don't think the VoIP function is ready for daylight yet.
- JBSherman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Ichat AV on an GPRS/EDGE network like T-Mobile or Cingular.
- inkswamp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3> Just once it would be nice to see a "journalist" do a little
> preparation before an interview,
Try NPR or PBS. Despite being accused of being liberal bastions, they are two of the only places left practicing actual journalism anymore. Cable news is a joke, the fast food equivalent of news--lots of taste and no nutritional value. - Xenophix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Cool interview, but yeah... Dylan Ratigan I think they said his name was, he's an idiot. But he works for MSNBC, so yeah... But what the hell are they supposed to know about a product that hasn't even been confirmed as happening?
- pixelperfect, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I feel sorry for that guy, I was thinking... that is EXACTLY how I go when people cut me down - I end up loosing my train of thought.
I wish I could present my arguments like the MacRumors guy did.
Carm. Collected. - pixelperfect, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6youtube video for those that hate WMP
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_NHpW2smvg - twatwaffle, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I wonder if iPhones will be compatible with VoIP networks.
If you don't understand VoIP networks Ive already written a digg article here:

r just go directly to my site http://notquiteleet.com/
I really would love to see the day where we had mobile wireless VoIP. That would truly be amazing. Just think of the integrated and unified communication potential.
It be freggin sweet! - zakharm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4i'm also a dylan fan.
when bob answered a question by saying, apple is an innovative company so they will make an innovative product, dylan had every right to make him eat his ass. - Suits, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5His 'Ipad' must've needed changing.
Both interviewee's came off, very weak in response. Seemed like all the interviewer wanted know was what bells and whistles Apple will churn out with their phone. His question was answered. A cell phone with style, seamless integration/interface and ease of use without crippling restrictions. Apple simply makes 'it' work right out of the box. And if the phone works that well, then yeah, I'd be interested too. - Dithre, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Erm, well he does run LoopRumors. I think that says enough about him.
- mrblack, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3for some reason as somebody who is from the UK whenever I see any US host of a news show they tend to talk all over people. It reminds me of a comedy sketch by Mitchell and Webb.. BIG TALK.
- halleyscomet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@flag564
Why do you have to bring the Zune into every frigging technology topic? Why are you so obsessed with this one piece of hardware? - DaffyDuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Try NPR or PBS."
I agree. Charles Rangel was interviewed on NPR this morning and the interviewer (forget who) was asking some probing questions about whether the Democrats intend to raise taxes. I was a bit surprised. I find NPR to be the most fair and least sensationalist mass media news in the US. Plus, they cover some interesting stories that other news sources think the public is too dumb to be interested in. - DaffyDuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1OK, the interviewer clearly has never used an Apple product before but aren't you being a bit extreme?
- brucebeh, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5damn, i thought they actually did the interview ON the iPhone!
i was like.. what the.. its out? - rjghwruigvyoy, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6That guy was a complete ***** retard, I wish he would burn in hell for dissing Steve Job's Apple like that. He should get shot right now, he is the biggest dumbass on earth. Those two dudes he interviewed at least knew what they were talking about. And he thinks that Apple is a tiny company in Cupertino California making just iPods to push their success? Hes retarded.
- inkswamp, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I don't understand the confusion about the interviewer not acting like a journalist. Televised news, particularly cable news, is mostly about entertaining the audience instead of informing them--no journalism required. It's been that way for almost a decade and has gotten particularly bad in the last two years. Why be surprised? It's like being interviewed by a circus clown. What do you all expect?
- skell, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Use the Google Video mirror provided in the article.
- flag564, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1"Just once it would be nice to see a "journalist" do a little preparation before an interview,"
We Zune guys feel your pain.
Not much but some of it. - neut, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2eventually worked for me. crashed Safari the first time, but it worked the second time. I had to click on the link below the player to get it going.
- gimmeslack12, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0The interviewer was pushy, but it is an MSNBC Money show. These Mac Nerds knew nothing about the innovation of the iPhone other than "Apple" made it. They both looked like idiots (the MacRumor guy looked not so bad as the other guy).
- thegreyfox, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3Wow i guess i'm the only Dylan Ratigan fan on digg. While he was a bit snappy at the looprumors guy, he did give him a fair chance to speak.
I do wish more people would more prepare when it comes to giving interviews. - patience, on 10/12/2007, -15/+3Don't phones already exist that can play MP3! Another yawner from apple.
