- unleashedlive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+30iPhone 3.0 : Rumors coming next week!
- bhavi, on 10/12/2007, -5/+25Everything is a rumor till it comes from the Jobs' mouth
- cwalk, on 10/12/2007, -6/+25Yet another lame iPhone rumor.
- MasterFunk, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19Correction, this is a lame iPhone 2.0 rumor
- badtz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11agreed. There were a lot of Zune, PS3, + Wii rumors up till launch. One of those three products sucks though ... and comes in brown.
- Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Yeah it's a rumor, but just to clarify with this misleading reporting, it's not a second generation iPhone, it's a second type of iPhone. The first being a simple music phone and the second being a smart phone. (for the smart-asses) :P
- 8177, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8I thought it came in black.
Oh, wait you meant the zune. - leonbev, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Apple seems to get the majority of the product rumors, but they certainly aren't the only ones. I've seen plenty of Microsoft Zune, Sony PS3, and Nintendo Wii rumors on Digg as well.
- pengu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5so basically. they (CNBC) have grabbed two digg-able words (iphone and 2.0 - as in web 2.0) and generated themselves some traffic.
- collinong, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4anybody that's worked in a tech company knows that every company is already working on the next generation even before a new product is released. in fact, every part of the product development pipeline is working on the next or next-next or next-next-next thing, depending on which stage they work on.
- jrbrewin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2flipmeat, have you even seen any mobile phones from the past 5 years? How about the sony cybershot phone 3.2megapixel, proper autofocus and flash. i thank you.
- leonbev, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8Exactly. It's kind of sad that even CNBC has gotten into the Apple rumormonging business now. Are they that hard up for ratings?
- Rigbymatt, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6the first one isnt even confirmed to actually exist yet (yeah several sources but you never can trust an apple rumor) and we're already talking about 2.0?
Jesus people isnt this just a little bit too fanboyish? - Bob042, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Really? My neighbor knows Jobs, and he's already on like iPhone 7! This is a pointless digg.
- badtz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5that's kind of messed up to talk about someone's appearance. Why don't you post your photo up for all to scrutinize?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Peter Rojas looks like hes dying of aids.
That reminds me, has anyone seen Ryan Block lately? - MrChocolate, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7O RLY?
- razorpit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Becuase if everything is done right the first time around and included every feature wanted, there would only be one version of everything, and it would have been designed and built 100 years ago.
- badtz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4It didn't necessarily fail. Just wasn't marketed well, and the song limititation. Other than that, it's very clever and sounds and functions great for a phone + iTunes. I have the overseas V3i and I like it for the occasional listen.
- plgonzalez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Great site... goes to show you that most of this is just speculation!
- applebyte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They mention how Shaw Wu is "in the know" about Apple's iPhone plans. But the reality is, Shaw Wu does very poorly when making predictions about future Apple products. See his forecast history at http://www.applerumortracker.com
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Sure, to stay up with other phone companies they have to churn these things out as fast as possible...
Samsung has new phones out every few months that improve on the last model... the first iphone will get old quickly - jrbrewin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2it's called marketing. do you honestly think apple has no hand in the generation of these rumours? sadly, no one but the most fanatically obsessed with steve jobs' anus actually cares about a mobile phone made by apple.
also, this is why digg has an apple specific topic, so that everyone else can just look at everything but the ***** rumour infested nonsense. - mpeters13, on 03/13/2009, -0/+1Like we can trust CNBC.
- Harlequn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1good idea about an apple phone OS, but I doubt Palm would ever do that.
Like the Engadgets were saying the other day - if Palm doesn't do something soon, they're going to slowly slip into the past - their phones are too fat, their Palm software is old and creaky. They gotta do something in year 2007 or they're gonna be overtaken by Samsung, LG and HTC - tomvendetta, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3hah, that made my night.
- plgonzalez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0As much as I would want an iPhone... I think this is all just a rumor. Maybe a little more out of control then some of the others in the past (tablets, media center macs, full screen ipods, and the list goes on and on) but so far nothing to prove solid that this is going to happen.
I actually think that Apple would be better off building a phone OS and marketing it out to someone like Palm or Motorola for their smart phones then to get into the phone making business. - bjtitus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Why do none of these rumors include a camera on the phone? I don't understand why Apple would not go ahead and throw a camera on, every other phone already has one.
- NickDouglas, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You must work on the Windows Vista team.
- 3dom, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2to be fair, even if Jobs says it, it isn't necessarily true. Remember the announcements about there being absolutely no video iPod in the works?
- jrbrewin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1i feel sorry for your neighbor
- flipmeat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Only for breakfast.
- flipmeat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1 Because most phone cams suck. Buying into the speculation for a moment, Apple would put a camera on their phone as soon as they had one that was twice as good as any other phonecam... the others suck so hard, let's make that four times. :-)
Look at the iSight webcam. Nice 640x480 Sony CCD, real auto-focus, good frame rate, the pictures it makes are really nice. Imagine this thinking applied to the phone's camera. There you are.
Seriously though, the pundits and press should wait until there's some freaking news. - flipmeat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Let's see...
1984: one Mac. Soon after: Many Macs.
2001: one iPod. soon after: Herds of pods.
2007: one phone... - jrbrewin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1apple lovers, fanboys?? come on now, how dare you suggest such a thing! ;-)
- razorpit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Well I for one am pretty sick of all of these rumors and wish Apple would just release the damn thing already and get every one to shut up about it. I think we all know by now that the iPhone will come true someday sooner than later. As for version 2.0 this is a no brainer. Any time most companies release a new product the revisions and "should of's" are on the design table for the next go around.
- NickDouglas, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Badtz, I think we call that failing.
- necrisque, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Like someone mentioned in the phone business new models spring out of the ground really fast, so this isn't surprising. Actually this clip might be a negative thing. I was under the impression more people were waiting for the smartphone and less interested in just a phone/iPod combine. We'll see at Macworld, but did anyone else notice that the product drawings they showed were different than the ones posted on digg earlier this week? http://www.myiphone.com/apple-iphone-patent-3068.php
We'll see at Macworld ;) - Nogger, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Yes John, that's right. Reliable sources say the iPhone3.0, currently in final developement, will also make coffee and have the "world peace" feature. Back to you, John.
As always, the rumors are topping each other and then there will be much whining and complaining when the real thing is announced and it does not meet these phantasies. If there will be an Apple phone at all, that is. - jvicinanza, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I don't know about you folks but Ive heard and read so many rumors re this bloody iPhone im completely sick of it. I really don't think I can bring myself to buy one once they are released.
Plus I know exactly what's gonna happen... a few weeks after the initial release... after the bugs have been fixed and just after the usual scandal re scratching or some other design/hardware issue Apple will release a new version.
Just like they did after my purchases of my Powerbook, iMac and Mac Book pro.
I think the Apple products are great (I own 3 Macs, Ipod & Nano) but this phone story is really getting boring. - teknotant, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I heard that the iPhone eats babies for fuel.
- NickDouglas, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Will CNBC's iPhone 2.0 mockups have the same misspellings as 1.0?
- plosfas, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I personally would rather have a slightly smaller phone than a camera that I never user cause its like 2 mega pixels.
- RyeBrye, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1So... Before even the first one hits the market, they already know what sucks about it and are fixing it? Why didn't they just get it right in the first place?
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I'm hoping the overuse of the name "iPhone" doesn't provoke Apple to use the name, out of sheer popularity. I think Apple's designers and marketers could do better than that.
- apolloae, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3It's a _phone_, guys. Chill out.
- jrbrewin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1"Everything is a rumor till it comes from the Jobs' mouth"
and then when it comes out of his mouth it's usually lies, hype, fud, or all of the above. - whickywhickyjim, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2This just in.....
I already don't care - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2If this WAS the ase, and Apple fanboys praised this, it would realy open some eyes about just how pathetic the fanboys are.
Quite frnakly, I wouldn't doubt that this WAS true.
I can see Jobs now sayig "Why offer all this stuoff on the FIRST generation phone, even though we clearly have the capability to do so? Why not wait 6 months and introduce it then. Our fans are such ***** idiots that they will surely buy it again."
Seriously...if you don't think that Steve Jobs knows yo uare pathetic and exploits it by making sure they introduce upgrades one (small one) at a time just to get you idiots to buy each one, you are all REALLY blind. - badtz, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2ZUNE, BE SOCIAL
