- deadbaby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31Since every modern Mac has built in BlueTooth, yes. Why waste a USB port?
- staceyeileen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23Yes, it is. Bluetooth eliminates the need to plug anything into your computer.
- runner91786, on 10/12/2007, -4/+22looks like the FCC will be sued for posting the pictures and documents publicly according to one piece of documentation

- chrislund, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15i think you're confused.
they already have a wireless mouse, which is bluetooth, but it's just a standard one-button, scrollwheel-less mouse. this is a bluetooth version of the mighty mouse, which has only available corded.
so the upgrade is that they now have a wireless mighty mouse, not that they're making they're old wireless mouse bluetooth (which it already was). - WeeklyGeek, on 10/12/2007, -5/+19I love the mighty mouse, my only complaint was the cord. Definitely picking one of these up.
- mtownand1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1413 days, 17 hours, and 30 minutes until we find out for sure. i'll be picking one up.
- mrman5917, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Although I am not a big fan of the mighty mouse, it is nice to see more Bluetooth mouse support. I just wish that Logitech would sell the Bluetooth version of the MX1000 laser mouse separately from their MX5000 desktop package.
- HP844182, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Ok...that's what I wanted to know...sorry for trying to learn a little more about bluetooth (I never really had anything that used it so I never bothered to look into it)
- Zm3r3, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15I love my mighty mouse but my one beef with it is it's so hard to clean the ball!
- Hardcase, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Which OS hasn't had right click? Windows has it, Linux has it, Mac OS has it, Solaris has it...is there another one that doesn't?
- dzarkw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Did anyone else notice it's now a laser mouse, not optical?
- hexix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9skyshock: the ball isn't underneath the mouse. It's where the scroll wheel is on most mice. Let's you scroll vertically and horizontally in one motion. It's probably the best (only?) feature of the mighty mouse.
The current mighty mouse uses optics just like most other mice. This engadget page makes it sound like this bluetooth version might use a laser instead of LEDs, which would be nice. - mtownand1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9i doubt it, but i think i would still go with white even if there was a black one (and i have a black macbook). some contrast is nice
- kevinmotel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8but this is no ordinary mouse. nay, it is a mighty mouse
- punkrockxtian, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14I liked that description.
you can bury me now. - mikemac, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11I clean my mouse balls weekly. I just turn it over, get a can of compressed air, jam the tiny straw into the orifice and blow all that dust out of there. Every now and then, though, the mouse starts jumping around under all that pressure. You just have to make sure you hold it down by it's tail.
Hee hee, cruelty to animals or sound computing practices? You'll never know! - kiddwnst, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9i'm a diehard mac user and i freaking hate the mighty mouse. i used it for three months and ended up cleaning the scroll ball every other day until i finally went and bought an intellimouse. now, life is good. honeslty, why the hell would they put that stupid little ball in there. as far as the side buttons are concerned, why should i have to push two buttons to accomplish one function. that seems decidely un-ames/jobs like to me. the whole thing needs a rework.
- Powerdrift, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9And yes, belive it or not, Mac OS _has_ supported right clicking for a while.
How many times have you heard that and forgot? - smiley2billion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7You could buy some AA rechargeables. This also means that you don't have to fear battery failure, also means less desk clutter. I believe the Wii controllers will be the same way, which after some thought I'm glad about since I don't have to worry about buying a new controller if the battery fails.... and if it uses AAs too then I'll have several AA's in rotation because I'll be getting one of these mice and a Wii as well.
- gelgod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Hope it's better than the original Mighty Mouse. I'm on my second one after the original one's scoll ball died. Now this new one has bad optics and the right click is very selective about when it wants to work.
- Funkly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5gotta say i was distraught when i read the first reviews about the mighty mouse.. but since i bought my Intel iMac.... i cant live with out it.. the squeeze to activate expose.. is amazing.. its a must have, and windows should copy (like usual) as quickly as possible..
the weird little trackball fails a bit to much... the down gets dirty.. but other than that.. i love my mighty mouse.. ill be one of the first in lone to get this version for shure - m1ss1ontomars, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5as far as i know, it has been supported at least since starcraft came out
seriously though, that's all i care about, since that's about the only time when i absolutely can't wait the 1 second before the computer right clicks on its own. - threepio, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Instructions for cleaning your balls:
Gripping the sides, pick up your Mighty Mouse.
Invert it so the ball points downwards
Using your Middle Finger(tm) rotate the ball several times.
This cleans the majority of dirty ball issues. - hexix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5skyshock:
I'm probably not typical, but I have a mac mini hooked up to my tv and have been waiting for a bluetooth version of the mighty mouse.
Other than that, you gotta admit it looks sleek if your keyboard and mouse are wireless. Especially if you're already into the whole simple elegance of Apple stuff. - m1ss1ontomars, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@mlkmnz, we haven't stayed with single click. i've used right click for just about forever
except on System 6, because a) I didn't know about ctrl-click or holding down the button, and b) there was no practical use for it (the right click or the OS, since the first time I used it, it was 10+ years old) - jabbar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3you can still accomplish the function of hitting the side buttons when you hit one. try it.
with the right click, i found that it wouldnt work if i was still touching the left click area. when i pick that finger up, i get the right click every time. i like mine. to each his own though. - FluffyArmada, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3the new one *is* a laser mouse :)
sad though, because now there can't be a cool easter egg with the red light looking like an actual mouse - lostngone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The MM is 800dpi. Sure its not a 1600dpi mouse however 800 is not a low resolution for an average mouse.
If the difference between a 1600 and a 800dpi mouse is the major deciding factor on your score then you need a lot more practice. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i've had a mighty mouse since it first came out, the ball will crud up, but i just spray a little rubbing alcohol on it and rub it around for 15 seconds and it's fine...
- M4cb0y, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Apple was one of the first companies to start supporting Bluetooth, what do you mean it's about time they caught up?
- mharvey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4"looks like the FCC will be sued for posting the pictures and documents publicly according to one piece of documentation"
Not really. That cover letter only asked that the "block diagrams", "schematics", and "theory of operation" not be made publicly available. There is nothing in that letter asking that the photos of the test setup or the internals of the device be made confidential as well. - $cirisme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@zybch,
"Sure, macs are pretty, but I dispise how I'm forced to use things their way instead of the way I want to."
The go use another mouse. You're not "forced" to use the Mighty Mouse, any PC USB/Bluetooth mouse will work on a Mac. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This is what turns me off about ALL wireless mice. How many people actually are encumbered by a mouse's wire? Do you honestly use your mouse more than 7 feet away from your computer? Having to change batteries every week just to use your wireless mouse is teh ghey.
So are recharging stations, because then you have to wait for it to recharge. Too much of a pain in the ass. Give me an infrared mouse w/ cable, two buttons and a scroll wheel and I'm happy. - Universal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hope it comes in black and white to match the MacBook
- ct2000, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3http://www.apple.com/mightymouse/ - get it today !!!!!
- $cirisme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I read the reviews, too, but decided to go with it anyway. It's nothing spectacular, and it certainly isn't for everybody, but I rather like my Mighty Mouse. I especially like the 360 scroll.
(wrong reply) - slackerhobo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They do ... they were avaliable at my local best buy http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=6843179&type=product&id=1093467659671
But I bought the MX5000 package ... it went back two days later bluetooth sucked I can not stand mouse lag (keyboard was fine had a hell of a long range too)
I went to the MX 3000 RF set and have never been happier - powerf00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2LOGITECH V270
- zodieman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Great find. I love these patent and FCC treasure hunters. I wonder if anyone has been digging for info on the new Conroe/Woodcrest machines?
- Universal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3But it's a wireless Mighty Mouse!... Wireless!...MIGHTY MOUSE!!!...
- halik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I concur, I got it 3 weeks ago for a mac book pro and it works awesome!
Much more usable as opposed to the might mouse imo. I havent had any experience with the ball sticking, but it doesn't seem to want to right click unless i lift my fingers off the left button (!?!). Oh and the squeeze button makes use of the most un-ergonomic motion ever. I ended up ignoring the button all together before I hurt myself.. - Ozmotear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2My post or not I hate it when Dupes make it to the Front Page. Its something the Digg crew need to fix.
Sorry shooby but the Digg filter didn't catch the similar title. Had I been aware I wouldn't have bothered posting this. - Boondoggle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You know, I was thinking you were a jerk, but actually, if you're going to buy a mouse you know you won't like, your're just an idiot.
- MAdaXe42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I have a mighty mouse - love it - glad someone else does. Have had it 9 months, and have never had problems with the scroll ball... In fact if anything i'd say it's very easy to clean as it only has the one surface....
- boff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I have an Apple Bluetooth keyboard and mouse on my kit at home. They have worked great for me. The battery life is decent, never had an issue with connectivity...
I ha(d)ve an MX5000 at work, and it sucks so hard. The mouse will drift when stop on an icon, the keyboard will give you duplicate strokes quite often.
I am not sure that Bluetooth is a failure for input devices as a whole, but Logitech sure botched it with the MX5000. - EricPeters, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's good to see Apple coming out with a wireless mouse, even better that it's Bluetooth. And extra points for making it run on AAs. My Logitech wireless runs on them, and they last me 6-8 months. Chances are MightyMouse's battery life won't be as good, but anything close to that is still pretty damn good. But I really hope they tweaked the actual mouse's design. When I first read about the MightyMouse, it sounded so awesome. Then I used one and it was the worst thing I ever used. Hopefully this one is better.
- coding, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Can anyone get bluetooth mice right?
http://source.bitspy.com/2006/07/24/the-perfect-bluetooth-mouse/ - synthrabbit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does the BT MX1000 work OK on OS X?
