- roguepirate, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Maybe Apple is gonna announce that Apple, Google, and Sun will support and promote each other and when you install iTunes it will install Google toolbar too. HAHAHA
- MisterKen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3They are going to buy Sun and Google.
After this mornings non-event press conference by those two, Jobs wants to make sure Scott McNealy never does a public presentation ever again.
God bless you Steve Jobs and the work you do! - stealthboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Again with this video ipod? People, take a step back and THINK ABOUT IT.
1) Can you watch it in the car? No.
2) Can you watch it while jogging/working out? No.
3) Can you watch it while at work? No.
Portable video just doesn't have a large enough market! You can listen to music in each of those three cases above. But video requires attention. You have to focus on it.
It's just a dumb idea. Please just logically think about this. Just because it's technically possible doesn't make it right, or a good thing to do. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://homepage.mac.com/grahambower/ipod_predictions.html
- digg-o-mania, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Try typing www.apple.com/movies...Rather than redirecting you to the "Looking for something at Apple.com", it returns a "Forbidden" page. I smell video ipod now...
- McNamron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I say it's a prosthetic iPod. Pirates with missing limbs are now able to walk (hobble, if it's a missing leg) into an Apple Store and say, "Aaarrrgh, I want an iPod mounted on me missin' arm, matey." It's gonna be huge. Guaranteed.
- digitaltrav, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2roguepirate. you win this thread. well played :)
- MasterSquirrel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A Video Pod would be Nice. But more then no they are going to talk about the reg. iPod. Maybe upgrading it to an 80GB.
- m4v1s, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1updated Apple Newton, itunes support included, blue-tooth/802.11x, 20GB hdd syncs with mac and win, music, videos, text, IM, mobile web, camera?, 3-4.5 in wide-touchscreen
- Loudog121, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The curtains indicate a Broadway play, maybe Cats 2.0 to advertise Tiger...
- ezalis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well the curtains on the invite might suggest a video iPod, kinda like the jeans pocket on the invite for the iPod Nano
- cankles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1how about if they release a steve jobs action figure with a pull string that says, "I wish you all would get off my nuts."
- neocitron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1all you guys are the most unimaginative thinkers i've ever seen.. a Video iPod is sooo off topic it's not even funny... it's going to be something revolutionary (again)
jesus.. i love how Apple gets people all stirred up.. and all the idiots that think it's practical to watch video on a 2 inch screen....
u cant watch video while walking
u cant watch it while driving
u can't watch it while doing homework
u can't watch video while doing anything.... video sucks..
and Apple is not holding an "event" just for stupid hard drive upgrades on the iPods - avg_bear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1possibly the inevitable iTunes video store, if the curtains are any indication. question is, do they have the licensing yet?
- antoniojvr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They're going to announce that the ROKR was a mistake and that Bill gates has purchased Apple.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Every single little business confrence Apple does someone always says "iPod Video?". Why the hell wont they release it already so I don't have to read this thousands of times.
- Nick_Circosta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Also the "One More Thing" was made famous by peter falk in his TV series of Columbo... Not by Steve Jobs
- Monkeyfarmer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hasn't Steve said in the past that he has no interest in TV or video? I know I've read that in an interview b4.
- foofooz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Blasphemy! I just bought a 20 gig Ipod. If it's a upgrade, it's going to have to convenitently break on me so I can take it back for a refund and get the newer one for the same price.
- gleepskip, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Perhaps the curtains are merely shower curtains. The iShower will be a revolution in bath-time music.
- Steaminx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v80/Steamincow/mac.jpg
Invite. - gmacster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think they will release the "REAL" iTunes phone and tell us that the rockr was a practical joke.
- Neptuned, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No way are they ever going to release a ***** video visor. :-D I just can't see it. I dont know that the technology is there. Many companies have tried it and all the video visors give people severe headaches and makes them lose their balance. I also couldnt possibly see an seperate screen, its not like Apple ( but this to me would be the most realistic option ). Also I dont think they're going to come out with a totally new player because it would kill the Nano sales which they've invested a ***** load of money to promote so far. I think it'll be their own version of the ROKR. But I'll say it again I much rather see a Tivo styled PVR.
- bobbyj1049, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0well what if its an ipod that can play 5.1 surrond in your headphones using the dobly technology
- notorious., on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You guys are not very creative.
: - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's not the 9th you idiot! On the image is says the 12th. The 9th is a Sunday, 10th (say it with me) Monday, the date on the image says the 12th (my birthday!). If it's going to be held on my Birthday and Steve ***** this up then I'll be pissed!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I read an article off slashdot where Job's talked how there wasn't going to be an Ipod Video for quite some time now because the current video players weren't taking off... So i doubt it's a video pod.
- mmcvey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ok, for those people that keep complaining about watching video on a 2-inch screen..........it's not about absolute screen size, it's about the perspective viewing size. It's not like you'd set up the damn thing at a distance equivalent to your TV at home, because that would be stupid. Most people with half a damn brain would be holding the thing about a foot and a half away from their face, making a 2-inch screen play video at a perfectly watchable relative size.
- nerdgirl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It had better be somethign revolutionary. The last Apple/Motorola announcment was so disappointing.
- nwagers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think iPod video (if and when) will probably first apply to music videos. This could even be an avenue for record companies to have a higher price. It would also prevent it's success from being dependant on the MPAA (which as far as we know doesn't have a contract for movie distrobution). One serious draw back of a video screen is the battery life. Video decoding and the constant LCD power would be substantially higher than Apple's current iPod's.
- tacojohn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"It's not the 9th you idiot!"
OK- have to defend myself on this one.
DID I SAY IT WAS ON THE 9TH!??!?! NO! I said the week of the 9th. Why? Because macworld didn't have a date available and this was before the image of the invitation was posted. So say it with me- "Week of the 9th". Which includes the 12th you idiot! - bobbyj1049, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0maybe its to announce the new powerbook with a camera
- floejoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0maybe we should all wait until tuesday to find out...
- shanmac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'll tell you exactly what this is. It is the Itunes video store, possibily with a subscription service. There is NOT going to be a video iPod! The nano is doing well, and they wouldn't upstage that unless they are stupid. Remember that Steve is still skeptical about the video iPod, plus the DRM issues are not resolved. At MacWorld 2006 you will see the first Yonah powerbooks, and not the video iPod.
- hyper7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0why would they hold an event to announce just the itunes video store? And its deffinatly not going to be a phone, they would have no time to design it and star production on it since they made the rokr to see how an itunes equiped phone would sell before making a big commitment.
- nifu3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0iPod A/V
- dailyclerk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0iPod video would be awesome! I only saw one mention about offering Pixar movies through the movie store. It would make sense for them to allow the download of this onto an iPod video and take with you anywhere. The iPod video, or iPod cine, should support divx, avi and mpeg formats, and not be some proprietary crap. If it is, DVD Jon better be on it or someone create an encoder so I can get my divx flix onto the iPod cine! btw, cine is pronounced like scene.
Do it Steve! Do IT! DO IT! - Suits, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Apple will now include a "Stop button" in all future products.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Apple has been working on media distribution for a very long time. The movie trailers section at apple.com is one indication of some kind of knowledge in media distribution. I don't know how much of it is stored on their servers and how much on others but they're the ones flipping the bill. And have been doing so for years. Now they starting to offer High-Def videos-- not many and some are hosted on the owners website but you can be sure more HD files will show up.
http://www.apple.com/trailers/
Now add music files to that heavy load, and now and music videos to that load.... so it seems they do have the ability, knowledge, experience to do exactly the opposite of your claim.

"Let's look at the basics:
I. Apple doesn't have the infrastructure created in iTunes for video. There haven't been any large talks about film studios agreeing to some sort of Apple DRM on movies." - scan2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What I want is something that the size of the psp but with a hard disk instead of a umd drive
- Nadcock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"i think it'll be the announcement of the 1st MacTels in the mac minis before the holiday season" It cant be a mac mini mactel, apple just released the new upgrades to the mini, why would they then go and introduce a new processor not 2 weeks later?
- Charlotte_Web, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0APPLE IS BUYING STAROFFICE!!!
TELL ALL THE BLOGGERS!!!!! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Do it Steve! Do IT! DO IT!"
I believe he will DO IT! DO IT! Starsky lol - beecheyj_14, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My vote is for the iPod Gigantic! Small enough to fit into a backpack ;)
- EricZBA, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Once again, repost of my comments from a previous video ipod story
Dear Lord. How many ***** times have we heard rumors of this video ipod? Feels like almost a year, every single cockmongering week before any Apple function all these gay apple rumor sites start swearing up and down that "reputable sources" have assured them that this is it, video ipod time. If this next announcement comes and goes without a video ipod I say we never ever listen to this rumors again. I mean, *****, every month a new rumors comes up about it, youd figure people would give up. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0OMG-OMG-OMG-OMG.... How the Hell did I miss this? Tina, (secretary) you're FIRED! The vPod(?) maybe but I don't think so. It could be movies for download and thru iTunes.
- Loudog121, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0they are also working to have a google toolbar added to Safari
- sharedferret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why is everyone dissing the idea of a video iPod? Sure, you can't watch video while walking in a busy street, or while biking or driving (but it's illegal to listen to an iPod in either of those instances), but think of the other times when it would be practical. Plane trips, morning commutes on a subway or bus, or when you've got time to kill between classes at school or when no one's looking at work. If I want to show something funny to a friend, I could just show it to them on the video iPod instead of trying to act it out for them.
- bobbyj1049, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0an event just to tell people that theyre gonna advertize tiger with cats 2.0 it has to be something much bigger
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it will be the last PowerPC powerbook and some other stuff
