Why? I'm sitting here in the lab at the office configuring Cisco gear. To break up the monotony, I've got my 60 gig 5G cranking out DOOM the movie. I LOVE IT! It's also great when traveling from LA to NYC. Nope, no headaches here...

noone likes the doom movie - Coppertop, on 10/12/2007, -1/+44" screen = 4 mins battery life? I think so, but I hope not
- iamsjn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Why would anyone want to watch video on a crappy little 4 inch screen?
To small to be of any real use...(unless you consider eyestrain and headaches to be a "use")"

SjN - underburn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2True or not, this is exciting. Let's hope they fixed the battery issue everyones been clammoring about. I would hate to have a laptop battery powering that sucker haha
- plum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Think Secret has pretty much always been very accurate about products and announcements from Apple, so I guess this one is for sure.
- ThatsUnpossible, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I love it when people complain that the screen is too small.
PEOPLE. You hold these screens about 1 foot from your face. That's like sitting 12 feet from a 50" widescreen. Are you saying a 50" widescreen is too small and you're going to get eyestrain? Give me a break. - FitFinlay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i don't believe any publication that doesn't use spell check.
"first m ovie" - fugitivALiEN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2cmon you know they're working on it, the datacenter to host more data, the prototypes, not fakes, it's just a matter of time, hopefully only a month or two ;)
- inkswamp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2ThinkSecret and AppleInsider both have excellent sources and a long track record of getting stuff right. They sometimes botch minor details, but never major stories. If one of them is reporting it, there's truth to it.
- buttersworth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"awesome! 4inches is just right!"
dude 4 inches is never just right, your woman is lying to you! - leonbev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Geez... Didn't you guys learn your lesson from last time?
If not, here's a reminder:
IF STEVE JOBS HASN'T PRESENTED IT YET, DON'T BELIEVE IT! - Tetsuo6995, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have seen a lot more better fakes before...
- Tetsuo6995, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Remember to use the "reply" button ... as i do.
- sygyzy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does anyone even pay attention to Think Secret's rumors? Hasn't their accuracy rate been going downhill?
- mytruehero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Cronus: how about putting iPodLinux and a dump of Wikipedia, Wikibooks, and Wiktionary on there? That's enough screen real estate to make something like that easy enough to read to be useful. Not to mention the sexy possibility of being able tap on wiki links with your finger and navigate between articles.
- OriginalGamer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Even with the media blowing the event out of proportion the Feb. 28 keynote still was a letdown. Both the cases and Hi-Fi are good products, just not at there prices, the Hi-Fi should be $250, $300 max. and the cases should be $30 maybe $40. The mini was the only thing I would see my self buying just for the ability to hook it up to an HDTV for a unique ht setup. This just shows that even Apple makes mistakes that fans criticize. If this iPod rumor and the tablet rumor are true people will forget the Feb. 28 fiasco and fans will be back to speaking mostly endless praise.

Actually I think its more worthy of a Digg without the pics. Any website with pics are just showing photoshopped hoaxes or possible projections. This is much more interesting because it explains the status and tells us what to expect and when. Plus the link to the Movies deal is also very interesting... frustrating-but-interesting. - Guspaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Considering the poor battery life of the current iPod when playing video (Something like 90 to 120 minutes, usually closer to 90), a 4" backlit LCD screen is not possible in an iPod that is the current thickness/weight. They'd have to adopt an OLED display to save power or use some bleeding edge battery technology to get the same thickness. The only other alternative is a thicker iPod. Yes, I know, the current 30GB models are almost pint-sized compared to the original first generation iPod, but personally I find the current thickness perfect. I didn't buy the 60GB model, not because it cost more, but because the larger battery added way too much to the thickness.
- compu73rg33k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wish they'd hurry up and release the damn thing. I'm waiting to buy an iPod and I'm not gonna buy the one right now 'cuase .. that'd be pointless since a new one's coming out soon.

If you are on a computer posting to digg right now while configuring your router, while not watch the movie on your computer instead of small ipod screen? - matt.rubin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://www.archos.com/products/tv_centric/av_500/index.html?country=global&lang=en
yep 4 inches still but it has shiny white plastic so it must by popular - mliving, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Here's what I think the new fullscreen video iPOd is going to look like.

glad to see you have sense of humor! I couldn't help myself.
I can't wait to see what Steve has up his sleeve
again great to see the sense of humor - astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0
** man with mic hanging out of car ** "Hey baby, I'll be back to pick you up with my 4" iPOS"!
--- (If there was an iPOS in the 70's)
Oh here we go again....with more iPOS hype... 4" now...
Then PPL walking slumped over with the 19" iPOS in their top pockets trying to listen to music.
Then the ultimate iPOS accessory... The iPOS Wheelbarrow... to haul your 27" iPOS around
with the car battery that powers it.
Sheesh...if I wanted to watch video content, I'd stay at home and watch my tv.... Jobbs needs to realize, portal music player that's it, not a portable TV,VCR,DVD,music player. - Hohenheim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lol, on that archos pmc's site under features...
The AV 700 offers many functionalities such as slow motion, adjustable screen size, video editing or enven a video bookmarking function. - Lagomorph42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0buttersworth
lol. I mean it, actually I'll write it out. I was laughing out loud.
I'm excited for a pda type iPod. But I hate the whining that goes on on this site. Please limit yourselves. Thank you.
Anyways, I'll wait for steve. - michaelg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I already have a 4 inch WIDE-SCREEN on my Cowon A2. Who cares? This Video iPod will be a big bust anyway.
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The Archos and the Cowon have 4" screens, sure, but they are FUGLY.
The device I'm most impressed with right now is the iRiver U10. It's still not where I want it to be - no removable storage, and only a 2.2" screen, but the design of both the device and the interface are stellar. I'd say they beat Apple at their own game when it comes to style and simplicity.
Once there's a U10 with a bigger screen and removable memory, I'm there. Until then, I'm happy enough with my iPod. - dvdcr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yes, because 4" is BIG...
- Buddhist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's hard to believe this because a while back they said that the Intel Mac Mini would have DVR built-in and built-in iPod dock, and as of recently have been pretty off with stuff.
I wouldn't buy it anyway, but that's just me. I still use my 4th-gen modded iPod, and I see no problems. - FelixdaaHack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wait a month and it will be 6"
- snarkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0
"The Sony PSP is 4.3", so imagine that I guess"
Interesting development if Apple and Sony both support the same resolution. Remember, Sony owns a huuuuge music and video catalog and has huuuge . What if Apple had to concede something to Sony (PSP and future platform support) in order to get Sony to climb on board the iTunes Media Store? They already partner with Moto on the (old ugliness) ROKR and (new hotness) SLVR, so it's not without precedent.
(digg headline about Apple/Sony partnership in 5,4,3,2...) - UtubeWatcher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dance Utube Videos: http://dance.utube-videos.info/great-dance-utube-videos.html dancing utube videos.
- Refrag, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My Cowon has huge.
- shadowsurfr1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think I'm definately going to wait to get an iPod. At least some of the prices may be driven down. If not, I'm still probably getting one by year's end.
- Lynn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I will stay with the Archos+Vongo combo.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0-1 for anybody that links their stinking website in their comment.
- vinny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If this rumor turns out to be exaggerated, is everyone going to blame Apple for over-hyping it? And, if it turns out to be true, will everyone say "nothing new here, move along?" That's how it usually works.
- brutalentropy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1posted by SyDIGG (0): "4 inches will always be to small for video."
That's what they told me when I tried to get in to porno. - mikedpirone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Personally I like having the video option. I have every season of Family Guy on my iPod in high resolution. I bought a video cable and whenever I'm at a friends house or something we always wind up plugging my iPod into the tv and watch family guy. Also it kills time in between classes and such.
- smspence, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@cronus6:
Do you even know how much the Archos AV 700 costs? $800, you idiot. - Johnny1337h4x0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm actually looking for an mp3 player. My biggest problem with this 4in screen stuff is that the thing is going into my pocket where there will be friction against the screen. Another problem with the screen is that it adds a lot of cost to it and subtracts a bunch of battery life. Also, can you imagine how greasy and nasty looking the screen is going to get just to turn up a song? I guess I'll just have to wait and see, otherwise I'm probably gonna get the iAudio X5.
- funkytaco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm sure we can pretty much count Pixar and Disney in on movie distribution upon the new iPod's release.
- bfbraum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I won't believe it until I actually have one in my hand.
- FearNoEvil, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've got the Archos AV 500 and I love the 4" screen! I think Apple is making a good decision going with a 4" screen.
Now lets just hope they don't use a stupid glossy finish! Enough with the glossy iPods! We have to touch this crap! - ahmerhussain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They shouldn't be making the screen any bigger yet.
They ned to work on extending the battery life and have playback for more filetypes. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0my old toshiba e800 had a 4 inch screen VGA, and I could watch divx etc in it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0damn it how did that comment get here? all i did was sign in in one tab with this story in the other and it took me here in the first tab :o(
- WDot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ooh, I was planning on buying a video Ipod. I guess now I'd better wait. Can we get movies simultaneously released in theatres and on Itunes?
