- norbiu, on 10/11/2007, -5/+44I only care about iChat ... and the crippled Bluetooth .. and flash + java support .. and copy/paste .. and download images from websites. That's it! Oh and writing SMS in landscape mode
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+42I'm enjoying my iPhone as it is, but any updates would certainly be welcome as a good thing.
- OneManArmy, on 10/11/2007, -9/+42"fall 2007 is when the iPhone's features are set to expand in earnest, he adds. The iPhone will not only gain a disk mode for transferring computer files but should also receive a full-fledged file browser that lets users store and open documents. Its omission from the iPhone software made available in June was supposedly made primarily because the company wants a fully developed browser very similar to that found in Mac OS X Leopard, including the option of Cover Flow browsing"
AWESOME - adamchristopher, on 10/11/2007, -2/+26Two things. One, I am very happy with my iPhone. And number two, please let this be true.
- alx1507, on 10/11/2007, -3/+25Give me MMS and Flash for safari and i'll be happy, i'm not a power user, I don't need a file browser or anything, I like what my iPhone has and how it does it. Landscape typing in all apps would be nice as well ;)
One of the biggest turn-offs of the iphone when I was considering it was the no custom ring tones. But now I realize that, if I'm listening to music on my headphones and someone calls in, I don't want it to play another song, because I might be multi-tasking or doing something else and not notice the change in song. - FoxOrian, on 10/11/2007, -6/+25Sounds pretty good to me. It's not surprising that the iPhone will be able to get easy and quick updates issued through iTunes just like any iPod. Just flashes the firmware and bam, potential new features!
- affanjam, on 10/11/2007, -4/+23iPhone was a rumor look what happened.
- Squeeky, on 10/11/2007, -3/+21The ability to instant message and set songs as ringtones are the only things I want to see happen in the immediate future, I can be patient about the other stuff.
- ScrumFritter, on 10/11/2007, -9/+27Weren't we all aware that there would be updates? Frankly, I EXPECTED half this stuff to crop up eventually, no surprises here.
- NicksVideo, on 10/11/2007, -3/+20*****.
- kingkilr, on 10/11/2007, -4/+16Wow, this basically eliminates every reason people said they wouldn't buy it, besides price, 3G, and video.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12Ya, I would really like Skype support. (Other IM support would be nice also) My Mylo has Skype support which I love, and I'd be willing to throw my Mylo in the trashcan if my iPhone had Skype support.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12Wow. Sounds great! I hear ya brother. I hear ya.
- Ireland, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9That's one update that aint comin'
- theonedigg, on 10/11/2007, -3/+12OK, got my iPhone on Friday...
No BlueTooth Modem.
Can't save images from Web to iPhoto, can't save documents, iPhone as a custom storage devices is insufficient, 8GB isn't enough, no Filesystem.
Can't send multiple pictures in email
No custom ringtones
No MMS, IM, iChat
No Clipboard
Good News ! This is only VERSION 1.0 !! I LOVE THIS THING...and it'll get better with the fast and frequent Software Updates via iTUNES.... You don't have to bring the phone to the store for updates (like my obsolent Treo). cool - Ireland, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8I care about my Mother, my girlfriend and great cups of tea too :)
- TomFrost, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7I agree with much of that list, but I have to refute one point -- "Scratch Heaven"? You should watch some of the stress test videos. People have put this thing through hell and haven't gotten it to scratch at all! Apple made a really fantastic choice with the materials they used.
And for the processor that's in it, I wouldn't say browsing is slow under WiFi! Sure, slower than it would be on your 2.4Ghz Core Duo, but browsing is one of the most breakthrough parts of this device. Worlds above any other portable option out there. - Emery, on 10/11/2007, -6/+13Rumor it may be but future software upgrades to the phone have even been announced by Steve. The features in question seem like an obvious place to start so this seems pretty reasonable to me.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9It must be true, I read it on the internet.
- jkoke, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7 The irony is that I buried you using my iPhone.
- norbiu, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8"Are they sold out?"
Not even close: http://www.apple.com/retail/iphone/ - ocha, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4If people are buying it in droves i doubt apple will feel that is something they need to address.
- awhiteflame, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4No Java?
Uh. How about just applications at all, first. Java would actually probably ruin the phone. - dethl, on 10/11/2007, -8/+12The only thing that bugs the ***** out of me about the iPhone is the one and only carrier for it: AT&T. Apple needs to "upgrade" and get some other carriers behind the iPhone before AT&T completely ruins the experience.
- macgyver1, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4They signed a 5 year deal!!! 5 years on ATT CRAPPY SERVICE..
There goes any traveling with iPhone - gti5driver, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7Not one ounce of regret here!
- FoxOrian, on 10/11/2007, -8/+11Java support would have made a huge difference :( They say the iPhone runs OSX but in reality Java is integrated in with OSX. Where did it goooo?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4I don't attend church, but I wouldn't want to "hear" anyones cellphone ringtone if I did go to church.
- MacParrot, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Kinda early to predict failure or success on just two to three days of sales. Some reports have them selling up to 30K an hour. Some stores are sold out, others are not. Let's see where they are a month from now after the hype has died down a bit.
Still won't buy one myself. Not enough storage and I don't need it as a phone. How about releasing this form factor as the new iPod? - paulsmerdon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3While I'd love it, I doubt very much that the stock will see that much of a jump on Monday. If anything, I'd expect a bit of a sell off.
Long term, AAPL is going higher, but it isn't going straight up. - galore, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6To the contrary. I like it much better than I thought. It is _really_ nice.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5None here either.
- will4042, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Your just jealous your lack of a job causes your inability to buy an iPhone. n0ydz good for you sir
- judsond, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4And group SMS!
- ericdano, on 10/11/2007, -12/+14Come Monday, the stock will be at $150. Apple will have sold well over a million phones. I hope they upgrade Safari with Flash support, and allow it to be mounted as a disc. Then video phone, voice memos......
- jeffgtr, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5I told myself I was going to wait before purchasing an iphone. My cingular contract is up and my motorola phone will hardly hold a charge. I assumed there would be software updates, but after reading this it looks like it's really going to happen. Plus all of these glowing reviews. Tomorrow I will be $600 poorer, darn you Apple. So does anyone have buyers remorse? Anyone?
- jigga, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5Not a one, very happy and its much better than I expected
- aussieNickuss, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Most if not all those features would be software driven, so all the 1st gen iPhones could get those updates as well.
- alx1507, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5None here :)
- slayerab, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4And to think, I've been signed to AT&T for five years
- eridius, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I love my iPhone. It's a fantastic device. I keep pulling it out during the day just to play with it even when I don't have any practical reason to do so :)
- eridius, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1No, the iPhone is not going to get Java. As Steve Jobs said, "Java’s not worth building in. Nobody uses Java anymore. It’s this big heavyweight ball and chain."
Granted, Steve has been known to change his mind in the past (no video iPods, anyone?) but there's really no reason for the iPhone to get Java. The only good reason for a phone to have Java is to enable developers to write applications for it, but if (and I stress that if) the iPhone gets opened up to developers, it will certainly not use Java for development, but rather Obj-C/Cocoa. - deadbaby, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2What are the practical uses of having Java on the iPhone? I'd rather see them focus on getting a legitimate Coca SDK out the door before worrying about Java.
- rudiguy, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4no buyers remorse here! worth every penny. Apple should make all programs work in landscape mode though!
- coldfusion1970, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1You do know that it has a silent ringer option?
- dmcbride6, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2digg it down bitches but this is the one single reason I havent bought it yet. Unlimited data is no good unless I can make use of it on my laptop. ***** edge is slow as ***** at that. If tmobile doesnt remove their head from their butt, I'll be paying an early cancellation fee just to go to sprint or verizon.
- neffy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1No Java? Count me in.
- coldfusion1970, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Actually none of those are deal breakers for me.
The only thing that will stop me getting a iPhone when it hits the UK is the two year service contract.
I'm 'pay as you go' right now, so i wouldnt want to sign-up for two years (one year would be bearable). - eridius, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Given that no other phone has had updates even a fraction as significant as the rumored iPhone updates, then yeah, it is significant.
- eridius, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I doubt they're using any technology from iWork for Excel, given that the iPhone apparently can't open Pages documents (though I would expect that to change in the future).
