- joshcollie, on 03/11/2009, -9/+599If I give my songs rude file names will it talk dirty to me then?
- ongally, on 03/11/2009, -29/+415***** headphones lockdown :(
- inactive, on 03/11/2009, -23/+366$80 for an mp3 player without any ***** buttons! I know Jobs said that he had an issue with buttons but this if ***** ridiculous, what the hell happens when I ditch their crap headphones and use my own? Next up: Apple Wheel becomes a reality...
- kiensoy, on 03/11/2009, -20/+310At first I thought it was a joke like those from The Onion until I visited www.apple.com and noticed it was true.
- seanpackage, on 03/11/2009, -15/+231The Apple earbuds hurt my ears...
- BMcClure937, on 03/11/2009, -30/+190Have to use an apostrophe?!
Apple's : possessive
Apples : multiple fruits - sladek, on 03/11/2009, -10/+160hannah is cute
- scrap104, on 03/11/2009, -10/+157If you lose the headphones, you're screwed. You'd have to shell out $30 for a new pair. The "voiceover" feature isn't totally new as I've been using the "spoken menus" feature on the 4G Nano. Since I always shuffle it, I don't need playlists even if it was 4 GB. The 3G shuffle looks nice but I'm still happy with my 2 GB 2G Shuffle. For one thing, I can control the Shuffle while connected to external speakers if needed.
- csuftech, on 03/11/2009, -22/+144Is it just me, or is this really UGLY? Also, fail for being forced to use low-end headphones that constantly fall out when running at the gym (which is where most people with a shuffle use it).
- ZimbuTheMonkey, on 03/11/2009, -4/+108Soon the RIAA will complain because a TTS function infringes on their audio publishing rights and then Apple will cripple the feature.
- mrBitch, on 03/11/2009, -5/+103@sleepyness RE: "iTunes is ***** on Windows (I don't know why, but the Apple programmers can't code for ***** for Windows) but great on OS X."
I agree, but it looks like Microsoft are guilty of the same thing with their software :
MS Office is ***** on OSX (I don't know why, but the Microsoft programmers can't code for ***** on OS X) but great on Windows. - wepeel, on 03/11/2009, -9/+106There's a point when something can become too small. I don't like the idea of all the functions of the ipod (besides volume) being controlled by one button. Voice technology is still too robotic for my tastes.
- Nephersir7, on 03/11/2009, -33/+129Congratulations Apple, now even more people will chose to buy a 4gb/8gb Sansa Clip, which has a screen, a removable clip, OGG and FLAC support. Way better battery life and sound quality (even with $200 headphones) and is cheaper.
http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Sansa-Clip-Player-Si ... - sleepyness, on 03/11/2009, -14/+104iTunes is ***** on Windows (I don't know why, but the Apple programmers can't code for ***** for Windows) but great on OS X.
- doctorcaligari, on 03/11/2009, -2/+86It will talk dirty to you when you put Poison's "Talk Dirty To Me" in your playlist.
- larrygates, on 03/11/2009, -5/+86Ok, is it just me, or is the girl in the video kind of hot in a "regular" way.
Maybe I'm losing any form of standards, or maybe she's hot. - LRG1, on 03/11/2009, -13/+84Considering how easily the earbuds blowout, this concept is doomed for failure
- kingofinternet, on 03/11/2009, -2/+69when you're up to 1000 song capacity it becomes more and more necessary to get a screen.
shuffle is the red-headed stepchild of the ipod brand. - smoger, on 03/11/2009, -2/+68am i the only one reminded of that old SNL skit with Will Ferrell (and someone else) working in a designer clothing store? his phone rings and when he takes it out, its like 3 mm and hes holding it between his thumb and index finger while he talks
- punkcat, on 03/11/2009, -0/+64if stephen hawking's voice turns you on i'm sure it will drive you wild.
- mediaspree, on 03/11/2009, -89/+151Have to use apples itunes? No Thank you.
- farfromsubtl, on 03/11/2009, -2/+60I honestly thought this was a joke at first.
- Fazle, on 03/11/2009, -5/+62If you had a problem with the earbuds falling out before, imagine having to fiddle around with a control system on the cable RIGHT NEXT TO YOUR EAR. Brilliant design considering these are meant to be used while jogging or on the go.
Voice system is cute and everything, but moving the controls off the device itself is a terrible design decision. - inactive, on 03/11/2009, -2/+59It's like the RIAA's dream media player. You can't plug it into anything other than a single set off earphones.
- TheQuarryChild, on 03/11/2009, -3/+57A point from the video tutorial, the voice over sounds different depending on whether or not you sync it with a mac or a pc. The mac voice doesn't sound too shabby but the windows voice is hideous. This must mean that iTunes converts the title to an audio tag when syncing tracks to the shuffle.
- Ocelot13, on 03/11/2009, -3/+56in more important apple news...
the ipod touch 2g finally has an untethered jailbreak - dnlslm9, on 03/11/2009, -1/+53They should have put the buttons on the shuffle, not the headphones!
- eivi, on 03/11/2009, -1/+52well, actually it will ask you to talk dirty to it
- z0otsuiter, on 03/11/2009, -1/+47Well they aren't going to use an ugly person.
- blackinthmiddle, on 03/11/2009, -2/+48More than likely. I never liked the crappy earbuds that came with my iPhone, so I bought 3rd party. I'm sure 3rd party companies are already working on their version of this earbuds.
- Charlotte_Web, on 03/11/2009, -1/+45No hardware controls? How are you supposed to plug this thing into your car stereo?
- timusca, on 03/11/2009, -3/+44Are there other headphones that support the control functions?
- d2cole, on 03/11/2009, -2/+43@kingofinternet
don't be picky. this is digg. if she has boobs, you're happy, end of story. - Dagolith, on 03/11/2009, -21/+61Windows is extremely stable. Even if it isn't, what does that have to do with software quality?
- infectthefrets, on 03/11/2009, -1/+39I think you are looking for "cute"
- dcipjr, on 03/11/2009, -17/+54I am so sick of people saying "this sounds like it's from the Onion!" every time something even slightly ironic happens.
- StuartGibson, on 06/14/2009, -0/+34Uh-huh, because this was greenlit, the software written, designed, manufactured tested and shipped worldwide in the last two months with Jobs completely unaware.
- Q8Jin, on 03/11/2009, -5/+38I can't wait to lose this!
- walgman, on 03/11/2009, -4/+37He was indeed correct since he meant multiple fruits.
- ninjadave, on 03/11/2009, -12/+44Last gen was going in the right direction. Smaller, colorful, simple to use. This is bigger than the last, the capacity is getting too large, imo, and the controls are the stupidest thing I've seen on an Apple product in awhile (which is saying a lot considering the last few releases).
I keep looking at my shares of the stock and sighing. They need to do better. - klowngoblin, on 03/11/2009, -0/+32so what your saying is theres hope for the macbookwheel?
- Drahkir, on 03/11/2009, -1/+31Are there a pair of headphones out there that you can lose without being "screwed" and having to buy a new pair?!
- nutzngum, on 03/11/2009, -2/+31the Apple buds (and pretty much every other bud I've tried) just fall out of my ear - it's like trying to hang a plastic hanger on the edge of a glass table...
Why couldn't they make an extender of sorts that has the controls in it that you can plug your headphones into? - MxM111, on 03/11/2009, -0/+29There are non-apple headphones with this function. You can find them in online apple store (and in other places, as well)
- TreatsTheBear, on 03/11/2009, -0/+29Still, you can't use it without some sort of controls on your headphones. I'd much rather have buttons on the shuffle itself.
- timusca, on 03/11/2009, -3/+29They did, genius... it's called the iPod Nano.
- Atsumori, on 03/11/2009, -2/+28I'm using the new trackpad, and it's brilliant. It's more like it has buttons, but you don't see them. Try playing with it. Though I have to say, I see no use in the shuffle.
- inactive, on 03/11/2009, -3/+28It doesn't even make sense. He didn't get rid of the buttons, he just moved them to the headphones. ??? wtf.
Thank you Creative Stone for your OLED screen, Built-in Speaker and button controls. I would also say that its smaller than the Shuffle, just not as thin. - inactive, on 03/11/2009, -14/+38I've been hearing that same ***** since 2001. It's almost as tired as "Because of whatever Microsoft just did, Linux will take over the desktop!"
