- lnfiniteLoop, on 10/20/2007, -1/+30Scott Moritz is a liar who shorts Apple stock for a living. Buried for various reasons.

P.S. 13" is not considered ultra-portable. They are usually 10" or 11". This 13" will be merely (though welcomely so) the new Macbook. - inactive, on 10/19/2007, -1/+21Yes, Scott Mortiz "shorts" stocks by releasing bogus reports about Apple, so that he can drive the stock down when the hype doesn't match reality. That's how he makes money. For a better explanation for how it works, you can go here: http://www.investopedia.com/university/shortsellin ...
- FunkyWitDaSysTm, on 10/18/2007, -2/+17while we're wildly speculating:
i've heard from a great source (my imagination), that apple will be announcing a new supersonic jet, a partnership with NASA to build a new "i Pod" onto the International Space Station, and has effectively shown through not-so-scientific studies that the more apple products you own, the less likely you are to get sick or die. - nestcrw, on 10/24/2007, -2/+15I sure hope this is true.
- streak, on 10/20/2007, -0/+12Moritz is the guy who irresponsibly reported two months ago that an analyst he knew had spoken with some industry expert about something, he wasn't quite sure, and concluded that iPhone production--or maybe it's iPod production, he's really not sure--was being scaled back. Emphasis was on an iPhone cut. As greater attention was placed on his report, the facts got increasingly murky and uncertain. Nevertheless, this led to a precipitous decline in Apple share price, all based on a baloney report. My take on it is Moritz and TheStreet.com, including Phoney Kramer, try to manipulate Apple share price up and down for their customers and possibly for their own personal investing.
- Commodus, on 10/20/2007, -2/+13It's inaccurate - trust me on that one. There's 'something,' but Moritz doesn't know what it is.
- sonofsubmariner, on 10/18/2007, -0/+7Buried because the rumor comes from Scott Moritz
- inactive, on 10/19/2007, -0/+6No, cowbell.
- soopafly, on 10/18/2007, -0/+5Popups?!?! LOL. I think that was a Windows machine buddy
- Eminemdrdre00, on 10/18/2007, -1/+6Is there going to be a special launch event...like a Steve Jobs keynote?
- BossKey, on 10/18/2007, -1/+6Buried for gross inaccuracy...not only is there a cheaper model, but the refurbished models are cheaper still (and they work fine).
- WiLLGT09, on 10/17/2007, -0/+5probably fake as hell, but one's got to hope.
- JoeDiggsIt, on 10/17/2007, -0/+4Of course, right after I buy a new macbook.
- xkilleddestinyx, on 10/18/2007, -10/+14how about a cheeper 15 inch Macbook for those who don't wanna pay 2200 bucks for a Macbook Pro
- forgiste, on 10/17/2007, -1/+5And what, pray tell, is the point?
- SamKellett, on 10/17/2007, -0/+3I thought this would happen, all of Leopard's Core Animation effects being touted yet their MacBooks have Intel built in GFX. It didn't add up.
- streak, on 10/18/2007, -0/+3It sounds to me like you rather enjoyed his popup! Ah-HAH-HAH-HAH-HAH!!!
- empraptor, on 10/18/2007, -0/+3It'd be pretty dumb if browsers in Macs couldn't be configured to allow popups. Granted, most people would not want to do so. But hey, the guy looks at gay porn. He has a different way of going about things I suppose.
/attempt to be funny - daGUY, on 10/18/2007, -0/+3I stopped reading at "TheStreet.com's Scott Moritz." This is the same guy who claimed that Apple's goal for iPhone sales was 1 million in the first two days (they never said any such thing), then went on to say that its sales fell short of expectations (those "expectations" being the number that he made up in the first place).
This sounds like a similar thing. A major new product launch this late in the year is pretty unlikely - if it was that significant, Apple would hold a Special Event (they aren't), or they would announce it at MacWorld. My bets are that Moritz just made this up, so that when "only" Leopard is announced on the 26th, he can spin it as a negative because they again failed to live up to "analysts' expectations." - ToastPop, on 04/17/2009, -0/+2How do you report a spammer? This idiot has been commenting on every popular story for the past few hours and all I can do is report him as offensive.
- totorototoro, on 10/17/2007, -0/+2Scott Moritz is not the first, nor the last I'm sure, to circulate the "aluminum" MacBook rumor around.
He is, however, by far the most unreliable and untrustworthy source to have done so to date :p - benb, on 10/17/2007, -0/+2Have they even updated the Macbooks to the latest Intel chipset yet? I know they did in the last MBP rev, but I never heard anything about the MacBooks.
- Crispuk, on 10/17/2007, -0/+2Block his ass?
- beerbarron, on 10/17/2007, -0/+2I'd love apple to do something that rivals the http://www.rm.com/FE/Products/Product.asp?cref=PD1 ... in terms of function and cost.
- Ireland, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2Apple are going to make a MT tablet my child - pray tell.
- chrisxkelley, on 10/18/2007, -1/+3digg is in america, retard. specify your currency.
if i was in canada, i bought something for 5 bucks, i would damn well expect the store owner to want 5 CDN. - arizonagroove, on 10/20/2007, -1/+3Wow, a picture of what a product that may or may not exist may or may not look like!
- inactive, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2"http://www.investopedia.com/university/shortsellin ..."
- otatop, on 10/18/2007, -1/+3Don't hold your breath, either.
- deepdigging, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1The subject can't make up it's mind whether it wants to be a statement or question?
- inactive, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1Probably about an inch, considering their current 13-inch model is 1.08 inches.
- RdHrd138, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1Buried because it's Scott Moritz predicting something about Apple.
..Though I'll be pissed if it is true, because I just bought a Macbook a month ago. - exomni, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1This is pure speculation based off of the fact that Apple has been clearing out the white from their products and replacing it with silver (and the macbooks are still white).
I mean, eventually they arer going to release silver macbooks, but this guy doesn't know anything more that us. - blitzkriegpunk, on 10/17/2007, -2/+3Needs more aluminum.
- BossKey, on 10/17/2007, -1/+2This story is either old (this is a very old, recycled rumor) or inaccurate, or both. Either way, no digg for you!
- tubeblender, on 10/18/2007, -2/+3WOW, you're a troll, nothing surprising there.
- monsterofNone, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1i suppose linking to the street.com was not possible because....
- greatblackowl, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1They don't need to make it cheaper. They do, however, need to give it a spec boost. There should for sure be a bigger (or faster) HDD for that price, and a better video card. With those upgrades, it would be a very competitively priced computer.
- r00fus, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1He's reliably inaccurate you mean.
Enough so that he's got a rap for doing this repeatedly
http://www.roughlydrafted.com/2007/08/05/more-on-s ...
...and shorting the stock after the "announcement" to profit off his misinformation. True media barnacle, he is. - streak, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1N.B. The Moritz Gang makes money going both short and long, using positive and negative stories (and positive and negative attitude, even in the absence of facts).
- hourog, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1Yea, and Scott Moritz alluded, as an aside, the new Macbook will contain Corbomite for increased security.
- tvon, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1I think xkilleddestinyx just want's a MacBook bigger than 13"
Regardless you are correct, buying refurbished is the smart way to go. - inactive, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1No you idiot.
- cglisson, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1Hmmmmm quite possible....

- humann, on 10/18/2007, -0/+0Yeah, I learned about this guy's lying games at http://www.roughlydrafted.com
Too bad their archives is awl borken. But the Apple-short game being played so regularly and successfully be people who for some reason are still being taken seriously at their day jobs is just another of many sad comments on the current state of our american media and their true masters' wishes. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. - tubeblender, on 10/17/2007, -0/+0oh, you're stupidity
- inactive, on 10/17/2007, -0/+013 inches huh?
But how thick is it?? - Synchro, on 10/17/2007, -3/+3Do not hold your breathe.
