- CLIFFosakaJAPAN, on 10/12/2007, -8/+68Now with the 2nd Gen, Smaller iPod Shuffle about to be released, they may want to update the advice to say, "Do not Swallow"
- nfxmedia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+40The iPod Shuffle was originally compared to a pack of gum in size factor. Someone would have ... somewhere.
- tobsterius, on 10/12/2007, -1/+35My dog did when he was a puppy. Still works, but it doesn't look pretty.
- kaoswriter, on 10/12/2007, -3/+33@tobsterius: The dog, or the shuffle?
- ohmar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+26Im a noob because I havent seen this before? I dont understand. Must be because I am a noob...(?)
- noripcord7, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20And, of course, the poem for those who haven't already seen it.
http://erasing.org/i_ate_ipod_shuffle/ - ThankTheCheese, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17"Do not inhale"

ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTES! - archurban, on 10/12/2007, -8/+20yeah, I know for this kind of joke long time. it's not just limited ipod but also mac os x, mac.... for example, when you try to tweet mac os x for installing to PC, there is some message like poem. or if you try to add quartz 2D extreme function on mac os x for the first time, there is another message like 'great power comes great responsibility', or 'you know what you're doing?' on terminal. they're thinking different. that's why they are Apple, we love them.
- Shorties, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11It is old it only lasted a month on the original iPod shuffle website and then they changed it, there is no reason it should be on a tech news web site now especially since there is even a new Shuffle out.
Anyway the Do Not Eat The iPod Shuffle was in reference to the iPod Shuffle size compared to the pack of gum. - super_spyder, on 10/12/2007, -8/+17
- noGoodNamesLeft, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8That's only because Americans lack the gene necessary to digest iPod Shuffle. Here in Europe, they're part of our staple diet.
- baddmojoe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7^^^ Google "happy fun ball"
- yensed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I remember when the first gen shuffle came out, the apple website had a Side by Side comparison of the Shuffle and a pack of Gum. And right under the comparison, it said "Do Not Eat iPod Shuffle". And a little over a month later, the page was updated and that image was gone..
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Nothing will ever beat their "Insanely great" or "moocow" icons
I miss the days when holding keys down while Photoshop started would give off different sound effects, or when I would load an MP3 in my startup files so that my computer would play as song as it loaded up, my old school alarm clock days. - matrixarchitect, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Exacly, this was news (maybe) when the first shuffle came out. Oh the perils of user-submitted "news"....
- drgnmstrnik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I dont have a link to show it, but the UK version of the old shuffle site used to say "Do not chew iPod shuffle." Apparently they made it out of a different material in the UK that made it safe to eat, but not to chew.
- jeffwhit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4At least since the new one came out out people have to worry less about someone peeing on their ipod shuffle.
http://angryhamster.com/images/movies/pregnancytest.mov - belmer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Must we add *every* crappy Apple story to Digg?
- edzieba, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4This was also labelled on the first Shuffle. And only in America (the 'do not eat' label was not on Shuffles sold in Europe).
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Old.
- Supernova36, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4This is old, its been on the Apple website since the first shuffle. It's there because they were comparing the size to a pack of gum.
- djdole, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The sad thing is, there are probably people who would try.
And since stupidity tends to be hereditary, those people usually are the ones with relatives who would then sue when said person dies because of his or her own stupidity. :-[ - gamerzworld, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2lol?????
- DoTheFandango, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2older than the new shuffle.
- pentomino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1More useful advice: do not keester iPod Shuffle at the airport for the security checkpoint. It may still set off the metal detector.
- neoknight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1figures...
- SyDIGG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well at least I learn one new word today: coprophagia. Its word I can do without knowing though.
- tavisjohn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1As an American I must say that one American is smart, But you get a group of us together and MAN do the IQ points plumit!!!! Unfortunatly you have to design, and lable things for the DUMBEST people out there! Because if you do not, they will sue you!
- yakoff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The New York police now find labels on broom handles that warn: Do not shove up your, or anyone else's ass - may cause serious injury!"
- christianw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the irony of this statement coming from quite possibly, the least intellligent guy on digg is staggering.
- Rikushix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Old by more than a year ago when they compared it to a pack of gum...but it was removed later. guess it's back now again
- dkocolin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1First, it was there as a joke, because they compared it to a stick of gum, and had a footnote referencing the do not eat.
Second, read the McDonalds lawsuit sometime. It was found that McDonalds had kept their coffee at 40 to 60 degrees hotter than is recommended. Hotter coffee = slower drinking = less free refills required. There had been incidents and complaints before, just no one had the balls to sue. - jellygraph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1har har har... *dry laughing*
- ktchpmn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2apple doesn't do this to try and be funny or because they thing americans are stupid. it's because someone would think "hey! there's no warning against eating this. i think i'll swallow it and then sue for millions!" america is just too lawsuit happy.
- zoziw, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I wish I had read this yesterday....groan.
- tavisjohn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I sudjest that everyone listen to "I'll Sue Ya" by Weird Al (From his new album Straight Outta Lynwood) because there is stuf fin there that makes you wonder if some moron REALLY DID try that!
I would NOT be suprised if some looser actually ate it, then threatned to sue Apple! - WiBu, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3"Digg is a user driven social content website." aka a link dump.
It used to be news... it used to be. - JonForTheWin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I saw on a forum recently that Mac users tend to be incredibly stupid. Although I know a lot of very stupid Mac users in person, I doubt (and hope I'm right to doubt that) they represent the majority.
Then I see this. God damn it. - OnlyShawn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0no...it's there because it's funny. c'mon.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1LOL1 I am so gl;ad they sed that because my sister OMG she so said she'd eat it! I switched tho so ITS ALL GOOD>.
- polymorphist, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0corny...not funny
- darkamster07, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1this is sooooooooo old hahaha....not!
- Gullop, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Oh they are so hilarious!
PS. note the sarcasm - PradaPete, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0apple is soooooooo great hahaha
- Shyam, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1could it be a typo? perhaps "do not heat....
- lemz, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1There's a saying that in the USA people with the most money are those who sued last.
Sadly this isn't a joke. This is protecting Apple's legal ass. When something is small enough to be swallen, somebody will swallow it and then sue Apple. As long as there's a note saying not to do so, they are covered... hence McDonalds now labels all coffe cups "very hot". - nickerbocker, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3Sad to say we live in a society that requires that kind of a warning.
- mynimal, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1buried lame.
[oh snap!]
...Sorry. -
