- Mystikal, on 01/15/2008, -14/+169God you mac fanboys are impatient.
- inactive, on 01/15/2008, -11/+144no ethernet? umm i wouldn't like that so much.

its! its! - hollywoodphony, on 01/15/2008, -2/+66All my ethernet ports are broken from me trying to jam a usb cable in there when it's dark and I'm drunk.
- CrankyMcGuy, on 01/15/2008, -1/+60Dugg down so you won't embarrass yourself further.
- inactive, on 01/15/2008, -1/+55That's what she said.
- linchiwo, on 01/15/2008, -11/+61Why aluminium for a notebook? Wrapping metal around antennas hadn't been the brightest idea, more so now for a (presumably) "totally wireless" design.
My PBG4 12' had a sucky connection (compared with an iBook); and MacBooks nowadays is still better than the MBP (also from daily experience) in terms of wireless reception.
New industrial designs are welcome (even though in this case the screen-bulge doesn't seem like Apple's generally sleek lines), but please no glass+aluminium for a heavily wireless portable. My wet dream would be the crazy material used to make that crossbow-proof LCD screen. - sbluetruck, on 01/15/2008, -4/+52no, no and NO
all of Apples computers have FireWire for a VERY specific reason. It's not just that Apple practically invented it, it's that Target Disk Mode, Migration Assistant, and other useful features of the Mac OS require the high, sustained speed transfers which only FireWire can offer.
While this mockup is BEAUTIFUL, it seems to be missing something - ewcost, on 01/15/2008, -1/+41its a mockup! why is everyone so excited?
- yohnkrb, on 01/15/2008, -0/+38They're not real ya know...
- outzider, on 01/15/2008, -8/+43Sweet if true. Looks like all it can have is USB....

- anthonybruno, on 01/15/2008, -7/+35Mockup ... Buried

- D3koy, on 01/15/2008, -3/+26not enough room on any of the sides to plus stuff in...
- airwalkery2k, on 01/15/2008, -1/+22The picture is just a photoshopped mock up rendition based off of a tipster's few words.
- skaughtm, on 01/15/2008, -4/+25yeah, apple forgot to think about whether it would fall over while opened.
- SweetChinMusic, on 01/15/2008, -2/+22What do they mean by "cable-free"?

'Nuff said. Speculation. Apple spam. Inaccurate. Therefore, buried. - l0k1, on 01/15/2008, -0/+15i'm betting this:

¡ǝɯosǝʍɐ ˙sʞɹoʍ ʎllɐʇoʇ ʇı - MBX1, on 01/15/2008, -1/+16Revealed yeah right. We all know how lame these mockups look in comparison to the real thing (remember the iphone).
- BlueStarr, on 01/15/2008, -9/+24The nano was not easy to break. I believe Arstechnica.com ran over it with a car and nothing happen.
What the Hell do you plan on doing with this thing? Have you never owned a laptop before? We tend not to go rock base jumping, mountain biking, rock climbing, fire fighting or anything else with delicate computer equipment. - accessviolation, on 01/15/2008, -0/+14Well you're wrong, because it can't.
- lukasmach, on 01/15/2008, -0/+13You're taking this Apple thing too seriously.
- 0260, on 01/15/2008, -1/+14apple: we invade other markets by being thin and white!
- phoomp, on 01/15/2008, -0/+12Because it's a mockup with an Apple logo on it.
- schroeder, on 01/15/2008, -2/+14For something that thin I would think they would have to use metal unless they allowed for the huge cost of plastics that could handle the torque of everyday handling without torquing the motherboard. Most likely, the case would be aluminum with plastic covers for antenna penetration like the iPhone.
- dcronin90, on 01/15/2008, -1/+13It's a sub-notebook. Of course it won't have any "graphics power".
- Firehed, on 01/15/2008, -4/+16I live off ethernet. WiFi is way too damn slow for what I do. Yes, even 802.11n (Apple Gigabit N router, latest MBP) right next to the router gets miserable transfer speeds. It's good for web browsing, and nothing else.
- iZealot, on 01/15/2008, -1/+12Thats what she said.
- Refrag, on 01/15/2008, -0/+11Thin, light, and stiff? Carbon fiber.
I would expect plastic or polycarbonate to be stiffer at these thicknesses than aluminum, though. - LordSubtle, on 01/15/2008, -1/+12this is shopped
- inactive, on 01/15/2008, -1/+12I call shenanigans!
- mrsteveman1, on 01/15/2008, -0/+114 pin firewire is still 400mbps, it just lacks the variable power output pins that are typically used to power external drives.
- northernphoto, on 01/15/2008, -3/+14Oh guys, btw, I am a huge Apple and Mac fan, but I am just so sick and tired of rumours. . . .
- mrsteveman1, on 01/15/2008, -0/+10surrounded by an enigma, wrapped in a turtleneck
- akkibaba, on 01/15/2008, -0/+10This is not an announcement of any sort, only a mock-up based on a rumor.
- superfuxxorr, on 01/15/2008, -0/+9No gun toting X-Men included.
- Nar1117, on 01/15/2008, -0/+9Unless it is DIRECTLY from Apple, Inc., Do NOT believe anything. Period. End of Story.
- mrsteveman1, on 01/15/2008, -2/+10high def porn can do that to a network......
- thatsmyaibo, on 01/15/2008, -0/+8You don't HAVE to do anything.
I love Macs (own 2 of them) and this is just gimmicky. I'm not impressed with these rumors. I hope it's not true. - etoiles, on 01/15/2008, -0/+8no way it is going to have a 'wedge' profile.
- al28p, on 01/15/2008, -0/+7the design concepts seem legit but I dont think it will look like either of their mockups.
- Samtheman007, on 01/15/2008, -0/+7yes they are, they come a a certain price premium except for maybe some of the high end mac pro which are a better deal. I use Apples because I rely on OS X only software and I have to admit they are very well designed and crafted machines, but you do pay a premium.
- nintapple, on 01/15/2008, -1/+8the macbook air can still have a mini-firewire port... you know the one that most camcorders use.
