- guytoronto, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27Aperture. Spelling counts.
- doctabu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Also, Aperture 1.5 has NOT been released yet.
From the website:
"You can use the free Aperture 1.5 Update — available later this week via Software Update or from the Download page — to update any previous version of Aperture." - alecks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Yea, but is it faster now? Current version seems so laggy at times. And some of the screen modes and views seem either redundant or pointless... maybe I just don't know how to use it fully :-/
- Boondoggle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Can't there be an open library (i.e. accessible) without it being open source? Pretty sure it can.
- joehobbes, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Yeah, that's gonna happen.
Just like Final Cut Pro - strat94, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Nice to see it now runs on the MacBook and mini too. The old version wouldn't run on the 'lower end' mac machines.
- blackjack75, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7No, it's spelt correctly. You can manage all your pictures of apes like never before.
- stmiller, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Why mod this guy down? Lightroom will run on an old G4 machine, where Aperture won't. Lightroom doesn't have any video card requirements like Aperture.
Aperture is SLOW as ass even on recent powerbooks. - theprez, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Where are the Core 2 Duo MacBook Pros?
- sidp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Aperture 1.5 was announced, but not released. It'll be released later this week. I'm hoping for speed improvements, because sometimes it's almost unusable on my machine. It's a very good application otherwise, and the new features seem like good additions.
- Evoguy, on 10/12/2007, -10/+13Adobe Lightroom Beta 4 was also released today, it's a fair bit quicker than Aperture. Personally I think it's more fully featured and easier to use as well, you should check it out.
- DaffyDuck, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3XMP support! Awesome! Now, if they will only add XMP support systemwide my dream will be fulfilled.
- ziemkowski, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I don't understand why they'd do that though. I bought a Mac Pro simply because my powerbook choked so much on Aperture... I can only think that Aperture would make those machines look bad.
Nothing will make a "lower end" mac feel more "lower end" than Aperture. - richardlawler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I believe ApeRture and iPhoto use the same RAW conversion routines built into the OS. So the updated RAW support in Aperture should work in iPhoto too. (But I don't have the software to try it so I don't know for sure.)
- trentpekkala, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1from what i have read there may be "speed improvements"...well i mean they did say that Aperture is now supported to run on all the Intel macs, so thats a good sign
- jbsnyder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah.. I'm itching to see what the performance is like. There are things that are TOTALLY unusable on a MacBook with the current version that's out (since 1.5 isn't actually released yet, just announced). Aperture, on the other hand, is quite usable, though thumbnail generation could use a bit of a performance bump.
- scthk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2006/sep/25aperture.html
Note that Apple already claims it as a release...
As for the spelling mistake, that was my bad. - Skeuomorph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The old Aperture ran just fine on Mac Mini (integrated Intel graphics chip w/ shared video RAM) if you bypassed the installer check and had enough RAM. The new Aperture is enough faster that Apple got rid of the system type check that used to prevent Mac Mini or MacBook installation, etc.
If you're having glitches or lags with the software, it's possible you (a) don't have enough RAM, (b) have a slow or full HD, or (c) got the SQL database that's doing all the Aperture metadata messed up and you should rebuild the DB by starting Aperture with a Command-Option-Click. - Skeuomorph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ThinkBox : the update isn't released yet but you can buy 1.5.
- Skeuomorph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually, the "old" version would run fine on the Mac Mini etc. given enough RAM, just needed to do a manual install to bypass the system check.
- hitchhiker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1At last, RAW support for the Fuji S2/S3 Pro! Maybe they'll push this support into iPhoto also at the next release!
- fudgebrown, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Bloody. Brilliant.
- BaxterG4, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5And take away the "are".
- Blizzardman, on 10/12/2007, -10/+5Exactly what I was thinking except add a Pro to the end.
- veniv, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0Great! Another set of Aperture API to play with for the Graphics lovers.
http://www.sleektools.net/sleekview.html - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Aperture, not Apeture.
- doctabu, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Apeture: Correcting those big ol' primates' color, saturation, and contrast since version 1.0.
- ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3So if this is 1.5
in software update, why is there an update titled Aperture 1.1.2 then?
Because it was ANNOUNCED, not released. That will be later this week.
Sorry, gotta mark Inaccurate. - theprez, on 10/12/2007, -18/+10Who cares? Where are is my Core 2 Duo MacBook?
- macnogeek, on 10/12/2007, -11/+1New MacBooks Please!
- dognose, on 10/12/2007, -12/+1"powerful new open library"
Huh? There is no open library. Unfortunately, there is no open source contribution here. - sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -16/+2We need a windows version!
