Now we can have an awesome iRectangle that shows the apple logo when you turn it on, and an awesome looking rectangle when its turned off. - rhdesigns, on 05/22/2009, -2/+90You have got to be kidding me Apple?
- miketest, on 05/22/2009, -0/+46I have heard about strange reasons for app rejections, but this one tops it all. By far!
It is the equivalent of Apple saying, "we don't allow you to buy an iPod, because you could load sexually explicit content on it."
???
How strange can it get? - Murrabbit, on 05/23/2009, -6/+50And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why centrally run closed platforms are just a bad idea. Hi, I'm a PC and I don't have to put up with this sort of BS!
- garrettg84, on 05/23/2009, -0/+39you can still do bad things with the iRectangle.....
- mmittimm, on 05/23/2009, -0/+35Way to think different, Apple.
- kbadinger, on 05/22/2009, -1/+30What is next.....better remove your camera, boy what people can do what that.
- inactive, on 05/23/2009, -2/+29Hi, I'm a Mac and I'm a prude!
- inactive, on 05/23/2009, -0/+26Pat Robertson is more liberal than Apple
- JantjePietje, on 05/23/2009, -1/+27Put it in iRectum fpr example
- zend999, on 05/23/2009, -4/+26As long as it has the Apple logo, people will buy it because "it just works."
- philb0t5000, on 05/23/2009, -0/+21Couldn't you access it via internet on the iPhone anyways? I haven't used one yet (iPhone, not the internet), but I'm pretty sure you can do that.
- jammyfred, on 05/23/2009, -1/+20Ridiculous, there are plenty of other apps that can already access the kama sutra though the gutenberg project. Stanza being a prime example. Apple are being retarded by not letting this app through for that reason.
- Depthfunction, on 05/23/2009, -0/+19Apple is the North Korea of tech companies: insulated, paranoid, and dictatorial.
- nonzzero, on 05/23/2009, -0/+19Apple needs to remove Safari from the iPhone. I can visit porn sites with it.
- insky60, on 05/23/2009, -0/+17Hey guess what Apple, I can downnload the Kama Sutra from Project Gutenberg using Safari. Should that be banned too?
- uncertainty, on 05/23/2009, -3/+19I'm Ron Burgundy?
- nesagwa, on 05/23/2009, -0/+13But there are other apps that access gutenberg and feedbooks and others that contain the kama sutra (among other "obscene" texts)
Kind of strange theyd start blocking them now. - fafaforza, on 05/23/2009, -0/+13Wow, look at all the Mac users get all offended at a simple apropos quip against Apple. Stop being so sensitive!
- Gillos, on 05/23/2009, -8/+19No Kama Sutra, but they include a VIBRATE function on all their phones?
This is terrible!
Especially considering the sexless losers that buy Apple products. - cyrix, on 05/23/2009, -1/+12Every phone has a vibrate function.....
- sandman979, on 05/23/2009, -1/+12Correct me if I'm wrong, but does Apples has a $ deal with Amazon ebooks?
I mean you can buy and play Kindle ebooks... - j0rd0n420, on 05/23/2009, -4/+15Hi, I'm a PC using Windows and I don't have to put with viruses and malware because I'm not a ***** idiot.
- cfuse, on 05/23/2009, -0/+11Yes, Safari should be banned - just not for that reason.
- BlueStarr, on 05/23/2009, -0/+10This is ***** ridiculous!
- Subduction, on 05/23/2009, -0/+10I just loaded the Kama Sutra onto my Tilt, just to remind myself why I didn't get the iPhone.
- cyrix, on 05/23/2009, -1/+11Go ***** yourself San Diego.
- peestandingup, on 05/23/2009, -1/+10Apple + AT&T together = The iPhone's Achilles' heel.
- garrettg84, on 05/23/2009, -4/+12Am I sensing a little bit of self hatred? How did you really know about this VIBRATE function?
- ryanonfire, on 05/23/2009, -0/+8lol brand loyalty
- bbhill, on 06/16/2009, -0/+8Perhaps apple is releasing their own e-reader and they can't handle the competition?
- JCPahl, on 05/23/2009, -2/+10It's not like that at all.
- kanojo1969, on 05/23/2009, -2/+10The only logical thing for Apple to do now is remove *any* app that can display or otherwise let the user have access to *any* 3rd party content.
Surely they have to do that, if they have any integrity at all, right?
We've known for a long time that Jobs is a control freak nazi, but this and other recent bannings have revealed the depth of the man's illness.
And people still flock to support him. Steve Jobs won't be truly happy until he controls everything, every single thing on the planet, all tied up under the control of his superior style and intellect.
If there's any better definition of a control freak I haven't seen it. Why on earth would you support someone who so obviously regards you as so much ***** on his shoe? Apple fanboys are just as mentally ill as their messiah.
But quite apart from all that, it's just suicide. All they are doing is ensuring the iPhone will be nothing more than a footnote once the industry matures. Android is going to slaughter it in every market, purely because it lets OEMs and customers do whatever the ***** they want.
It's incredible that Apple hasn't learned this lesson over the last 30 years. - Pardis, on 05/23/2009, -0/+7http://www.amazon.com/Tantra-Kama-Sutra-Sex-Positi ...
Guess the Kindle App is next. - Zippo, on 05/23/2009, -0/+6Parental controls in 3.0 damn-well put a stop to this madness... of course, then you're going to have app being listed as "adult" for silly reasons.
- j0rd0n420, on 05/23/2009, -0/+6I'm sorry, but if they haven't learned after the first couple times then they are idiots and you should try to teach them better or stop helping them. That's just my opinion though.
- javaroast, on 05/23/2009, -0/+6Stanza?? How about Safari? For consistency Apple should remove it immediately.
- SpinningHead, on 05/23/2009, -0/+6Theres even an app to make use of the vibrate function.
- inactive, on 05/23/2009, -0/+6yet they allowed the "I'm Rich!" app that outraged many more?
I'm a Mac owner, but ***** Apple. - vagarach, on 05/23/2009, -0/+6I actually thought that Apple made money by being modern, forward looking, and knowing how the world was moving.
With their app store-related behaviour it's now clear that the company moves just as glacially and stubbornly as any other. It was all just hidden away by their shiny products.
Whoever heads up the app store processes should be booted. Simple. - ChimeraHero, on 05/23/2009, -0/+5Uh...I'm looking at my iPhone right now with the Stanza application which has built in access to Project Gutenberg.
- nyxerebos, on 05/23/2009, -0/+5yeah, someone might accidentally the whole thing and need medical help
- Barackalypse, on 05/23/2009, -0/+4Nobody tell them you can dial obscene sex lines with the iPhone's telephone functionality.
- inactive, on 05/22/2009, -2/+6"manually added" is ok with Kama Sutra.
- kanojo1969, on 05/23/2009, -1/+5After reading that, I conclude they simply don't want any more book reading apps. it's not too difficult to imagine Apple lying to keep amazon happy.
There's no other conceivable reason. - e2superman, on 05/23/2009, -0/+4...and why do people keep defending a company that is this way with everything they do?
- Georgy, on 05/23/2009, -0/+4Good thing that this isn't something us digg users would need.....
- mohsenxp, on 05/23/2009, -0/+4I think this is actually the best analogy anyone can come up with.
- saftaplan, on 05/23/2009, -0/+4I guess that everybody's finally starting to see how idiotic and dangerous the idea of Trusted Computing is, that Apple is trying to introduce through its phone.
Maybe within a few years, Apple is will introduce their App Store (which is really just a censored non-free Ubuntu repository) on the Mac. And when Apple has enough market share and everybody's used to installing applications via their Store because it's 'oh so easy', they'll remove the ability to install applications that are not reviewed by Apple.
But yeah, you'll probably be free from viruses. - gemlarin, on 05/23/2009, -0/+4I was just thinking about Stanza as an example. Double standards.
