- gimmeslack12, on 11/04/2009, -2/+31Quality, not Quantity Apple. They should introduce a "Quality" section in the App store cause most of it is *****.
Makes for great marketing though. - thefox84, on 11/04/2009, -8/+35Buried for how many useful apps actually exist in the store.
- jrm125, on 11/04/2009, -8/+25There's nothing like having choice when selecting a fart app.
- BossKey, on 11/04/2009, -1/+15This is so crazy.
Windows fanboys tell Mac fanboys that Windows is better because there are more apps. Mac fanboys tell Windows fanboys that Macs have better apps and that's why it's OK there are fewer.
Now the iPhone comes out and the same fanboys pick up the opposite arguments! - adeelarshad82, on 11/04/2009, -3/+17is there an app to count how many apps there are?
- IphtashuFitz, on 11/04/2009, -4/+161,000 flashlight apps
1,000 poker apps
1,000 weather apps
1,000 lightsaber apps
1,000 beer apps
1,000 twitter apps
1,000 facebook apps
etc. - nahsrocketeer75, on 11/04/2009, -4/+16No wonder there's an app for that.
- superkendall, on 11/04/2009, -3/+1399% of everything is crap.
That means there are 1000 really useful apps... which is still quite a large number.
Remember that 99% applies to every other platform too. - Soniti, on 11/04/2009, -6/+14There are 100,000 Apps, 99,900 of which are flashlight / beer simulation.
- chazuk, on 11/04/2009, -3/+9***** apple
- chazuk, on 11/04/2009, -4/+10iPhone sucks
- TheUngod, on 11/04/2009, -0/+6Spell check, however, is quite a gem.
- chazuk, on 11/04/2009, -5/+10I <3 ANDROIIIIIIDD
- aaron.dunlap, on 11/04/2009, -2/+7this happened well over a week ago and even got dugg up back then too. why is this making a resurgence everywhere?
http://digg.com/d318KWg - TheUngod, on 11/04/2009, -1/+6Choice is great. But sifting through a bucket of ***** to find a quarter at the bottom isn't really worth it.
- Crimeodial, on 11/04/2009, -0/+4It's a silly $2 app. You don't exactly need a lot of money for it.
- eatrains, on 11/04/2009, -4/+8I thought choice was a good thing...
- inactive, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3No, I definitely DO want a Zune, especially with more Xbox Live/Marketplace integration in the future. The original Zunes were great, the 2nd gens were even better and the Zune HD is better than the iPod in terms of being a portable media player.
I wish Verizon would get the iPhone. Then I could have an iPhone as my portable computer and my Zune HD as my PMP. - superkendall, on 11/04/2009, -1/+4Don't knock it until you try it. There's a ton of entertainment value there.
- bf01, on 11/04/2009, -1/+4I wonder how many of those are "Free" or "Lite" versions of paid apps.
- danydral, on 11/04/2009, -4/+7How many are Useful?
- FredFredrickson, on 11/04/2009, -1/+4Why should anyone bother coming up with new criticism if that criticism is still valid?
- comat0se, on 11/04/2009, -1/+4pissing match
- MacParrot, on 11/04/2009, -0/+2What is this "mac" company of which you speak? I thought (and sales shows this) that most of the people who buy iPods and iPhones are Windows users.
- BossKey, on 11/04/2009, -0/+2Actually it would be 200,000 if Apple didn't have to approve every last app.
(Yes, I am still a satisfied iPhone user) - soopafly, on 11/04/2009, -5/+7Hey, that's what I say about Windows applications
- kenlaw, on 11/04/2009, -0/+2My current favorite game if Fling.
- inactive, on 11/04/2009, -0/+2I have a zune and an ipod.. I like my zune better. Sorry.
- kenlaw, on 11/04/2009, -0/+2iFart is the clear winner in the virtual fart technology war.
- jv2k, on 11/04/2009, -0/+2Android has it's own articles today. :(
- digggggggggg, on 11/04/2009, -2/+4There's a "featured" section of the app store. The stuff in there is pretty good.
- tnoy, on 11/04/2009, -0/+2Still 100% valid.
- chazuk, on 11/04/2009, -0/+21% of them are good?
- inactive, on 11/04/2009, -0/+2Something simple like browsing through ***** menus. What's the point of having an A/V dock if I have to get up to look at the screen? Choosing music is a pain..
As a media player, the Zune HD blows the iPod away. The iPod is awesome, but it's a pocket computer, not a PMP. - lornefs, on 11/04/2009, -2/+4I guess Apple never heard of "There's already an app for that".
If you just flip through all 100,000 apps and spend 5 seconds reading the synopsis and looking at the screenshots it will take you almost 6 days solid.
Not that useful.
Still, woe eh?! - MacParrot, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1Actually it sounds more like he'd pay the markup for OS X on a netbook. As far as this T-Pain app goes, as someone said earlier it's 2 bucks. Not exactly a deal breaker. I hardly think however that the vast majority of people buying Apple products (of any type) are buying it because of a brand. Your one friend does not a trend make.
- CaughtThinking, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1My friend just told me they're all fart apps.
- therealkdog, on 11/04/2009, -1/+2Want an app that plays "The price is right losing horn"? on command, there is not an app for that.
- kenlaw, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1and the 1000 cigarette lighter apps.
- deslock, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1And 1,500 RSS readers.
- virtualball, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1Jailbreak it and download Screensplitr, problem solved:)
- chazuk, on 11/04/2009, -3/+4That should do it!
- MacParrot, on 11/04/2009, -1/+2I was saying this the other day and got dugg down for it. You are absolutely right though.
- juliusthecat, on 11/04/2009, -1/+2Because the net is becoming one giant rerun. I blame those who get content onto social media sites.
- UnaClocker, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1If they were all free, probably 300+, I'm not sure how usable my phone/touch would be with that many apps on it though.
- BossKey, on 11/04/2009, -1/+2You're crazy. The vast majority of iPhone apps I downloaded are FREE.
- MacHarborGuy, on 11/04/2009, -4/+5arguments from last year are so... 365 days ago
- gimmeslack12, on 11/04/2009, -1/+2I'm happy that the App Store has choice, and looking through the "featured" section is helpful. I love my iPhone and there are plenty of websites that review plenty of apps for me to make an educated decision on what to expect on a purchase. The prices of most Apps are very affordable, even if I only use the app for an hour, or a few days.
The App Store is great. The organization of it needs work though. It's not a dealbreaker, and it's a weak argument if you claim it is. We will see this evolve, and I would expect that Survival of the Fittest (in regards to developers) will slowly weed out the weak. I just don't agree with touting "WE HAVE THE MOST APPS" as really telling me anything. - UselessTrivia, on 11/04/2009, -3/+495000 of them are fart noise generators and match-3-colors games.
- deslock, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1sadly this is the route that Android is following. 20K apps and maybe 1% are useful. how many of the 100,000 apps on itunes would you even consider installing, even if they were free?
