- RamoneCumia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Howard Who? I already listen to the pioneers of Sat Radio. OPIE AND ANTHONY. I already have a Portable XM Sat Radio. Sirius will be a failed company in less than 5 yrs. XM Rules over Sirius. Do the research. Facts are all that remains. SIRIUS SUCKS ASS
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3XM > FM > AM > Sirius. Thank you.
- GoingForThe1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Opie and Anthony, XM Satellite Radioooooooooooooooo!!!
- themulf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It would, of course. This sucks i just got the Video. Good thing they have good resell value (adhoc inscription)
- Scott802, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Bravo Filovirus,Ramonecumia and Goingforthe1.
Opie and Anthony XM 202.
Good to see that Digg is spreading the Hi Five.
Opie and Anthony much more funnier. - cpawl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, we don't want to miss one episode of Howard asking some chic to take off her shirt...
Stern is about as interesting as a fart. - beavenour, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Cool that's my picture in the article!! I originally posted it to an ipodlounge.com gallery. It's Old Skool (Conion TC999) meets New Skool (4G - 20GB iPod). I still use that setup a good bit but now with my 5G – 30GB iPod!!
- e3mw, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Paying the subscription fee isn't that bad, I've been a subscriber to Sirius for 3 years now and it's 100% worth every penny. I really hope this is true, but I have my doubts that Apple would jump headfirst into something like this. This would be great for Sirius, as they have been looking to find something to compete with XM's MyFi -- But I still have my doubts that either company is ready for a device like the "iPod Radio."
- millerto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This would be sweet. I just got the Sirius S50 and it kinda sucks.
- biometricks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"Hoo Hoo. I invented the Ipod. Hoo Hoo
Tell 'em Fred"
haha. O&A Party Rock.
Seriously though, I have Sirius stock. I hope to god this is true. - e3mw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah I've only heard negative things about the S50 - I'm staying clear of it.
- DSM72M, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sirius sucks as much as there massive gamble, Hoo Hoo, that is going to fail. XM is much better because they already have the best portable devices and they have Opie and Anthony on XM 202. Steve from Yellowstone makes a good point, Sirius promises and never delivers because they are only surviving on hype.
Jim Norton was quoted as saying "the little doggy company (Sirius) is worth as much as a party rock"
"But enough of this collaber, let get the show on the road" - mentorwarrior, on 03/10/2009, -0/+1This is pretty cool news. The world of radio is changing every day. You have to try really hard to keep up with the technology. If you are interested in a career in voice-over or online radio check out the Radio Connection. They match you with a mentor which specializes in your area of interest, whether is is electronica, Djing, hip hop, or talk radio. http://www.radioconnection.com for more info !
- wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1XM has a greater subscriber base and is smart enough to know that being a business partner with Apple is a guarantee of a corporate migrane or worse. Talk to Motorola about this. Sirius needs to make up ground, so they had to take the risk of getting raped by Apple. Which is probably what is going to happen.
- filovirus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ramone, Howard Stern tongues Tippy Tom's Taint.
- Scott802, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Hoo Hoo. I invented the Ipod. Hoo Hoo
Tell 'em Fred - Grodius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I hope so, but wouldn't people have to pay subscription fees?
- filovirus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Baba Baba Booey looked gazingly into Howard's eyes and confessed, "I wish I could quit you...."
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Right now someone at the RIAA is reading this and thinking, "There's got to be a lawsuit in here somewhrere..."
- Historian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Pure rumor
- Connor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Know what's great about Sirius, they keep talking about all these things they are going to do, but they never happen or when they do, you get crap like the "portable" S50. I still don't know how a portable satelite radio can't recieve satellite radio.
-Steve from Yellowstone. - agooga, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How can you listen to XM inside without a big antenna? I listen to my iPod almost exclusively indoors.
- mcbesq, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Kevbryant - Creative's Zen has greater capacity for less money with better batter life and far superior sound quality. Stop being a fanboy and try to ACTUALLY think different.
- mcbesq, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not overly useful on the subway, unless you can get reception underground. At work, I either listen to the pod or XM.
- eiczko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is how Sirius will start feeding video content. It makes sense.
- bsharitt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've been wondering when Apple was going to go further into consumer electronics, maybe 2006 is the year. The iPod and Mac can only take them so far, and demand will eventually peak, so a more diversified product line would be helpful. While Sony is trying to get its PC unit to emulate Apple, Apple may be making its CE unit look more like Sony.
- izek13, on 10/20/2007, -0/+0Am telling you men chainis staff breack easly it's *****.
- kevbryant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0um mcbesg, the zen, (30gb) does claim to have better battery life on video. BUT it retails at 30 dollars MORE than the 5g ipod, has ***** navigation, and its bigger. may be comparable, but certainly not better. i smell jealousy from a lot of people, especially anyone who says "most" people buy them because they're trendy. IT WORKS - and there is no dispute about the quality of the product. And don't give me that audiophile crap. 99% of you can't even hear the difference in audio quality, stop acting like you don't have an ipod because you're some elitest audiophile. and MOST of the market doesn't care anyway, they want functionality and capacity for a reasonable price, appl eoffers it, and that's why the product has done so well.
- korteenea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What a worthless addition to the iPod that would be. Apple seems to think a little bit bigger than that, and investing in satellite radio capabilities for the iPod when it seems fairly obvious that web-delivered content is the way of the future (a way Apple has seemed to embrace and push) doesn't seem like an Apple thing to do. All the effort they put into podcasts just doesn't make sense if they go and put a satellite radio in the iPod. If anything, I think it'll just be a regular old FM tuner... but I highly doubt that too.
- Wolfman~K, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0errr air america is on XM too....
I would love an iPod with XM... would be my ultimate device... actually I'd settle for an XM portable that plays mp3's .... XM with podcasting is all I really want. But unfortioatly Apple has been talking with the little doggie company not XM, so it will suck.......
If anything comes out it will probably be like that Dell thing XM has... where you can record content to an ipod if its in the base station... will not be live the doggie company equipment is just too bit to fit into an ipod.
http://kaseiffert.is.dreaming.org - kevbryant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"the hyped-up waste of money ipod + Sirius = $300 steaming pile of *****."
hey pwandell, just why is the ipod overhyped? name one player at that capacity and functionality (or better) for LESS than 300. Oh wait you can't. Yes it must be overwhelming to hear so much buzz around a product. whoever doesn't have an ipod and ***** on it either can't afford it or just doesn't want a player. you cannot dispute the ipod as the best mp3 player on the market. you COULD ask for more features...but i doubt XM is the one that will continue the craze. try more vid codecs, more audio formats, maybe some more apps to run on it etc. - jakestoll, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Clearchannel does not own part of XM, in the beginning they were investors like GM and DIRECTV but not anymore, they sold. And they have 2 channels out of 150 with CC programming on it, that's it. Air America is on 100% with XM radio (They have their own channel), after they cut their contract with Sirius, you can't hear Air America on Sirius.
And how is Sirius more advanced technology? Sirius uses PAC compression which is basically streaming MP3. Thus Sirius sound like a 48k mp3 stream. XM was smart enough to use HE-ACC MP4 to compress their streams, and it sounds much better than Sirius. It may not be perfect like a CD, but it's better than FM radio. And if Sirius is more advanced, why does XM have a true portable player with 5+ hours of battery life. Wow, hoo hoo Sirius have a color screen, whats the battery life? - vanillablue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0here's my take on this. i listen to howard stern every morning and he has made some comments about the ipod. it seems he really the nano. i think the "ipod radio" if it comes true would be a home unit that would have capabilities akin to a dvr. you could program the "ipod radio" to record your favorite sirus programs and then dock your ipod to it and transfer those shows and listen to them like podcasts. you would still have to pay the sirus subscription fee. the ipod radio would also have the ability to stream your itunes to it wirelessly. i don't believe they'll ever put a sirus on an actual ipod. it would make it too big and the reception would suck.
- dylanA, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0cool if i dont have to pay sub. fee not cool if i have to pay
- julzmon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Air America is on XM but they don't play the entire shows!
- Thundercat1971, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0From the article:
>This boombox is said to have built in wireless audio streaming capabilities
hmmmm, don't all radios have wireless audio streaming capabilities? That's like describing a new TV as being able to play streaming video. - pwandell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"hey pwandell, just why is the ipod over-hyped? name one player at that capacity and functionality (or better) for LESS than 300. I stand by my previous statement. The ipod is over-hyped. Most people don't buy it for the features most people buy it because it's an ipod and it's the "hip" thing to have.
***** the ipod, Sirius and Hoo Hoo - macslut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There really isn't any Sat Radio content that I'm interested in, but if there was, I would much rather have it be available as a Podcast and keep my iPod nano sized. Perhaps this isn't a hardware deal, but a content deal. Subscribe to Sat Radio Podcasts for $x a month.
- HeliumHigh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ohh come on. I'm sick of the Ipod stuff! There have been so many speculations about what the next ipod will be, and so many 'stories' (read: rumorsite rantings) about whats next. Why can't people be paitent, wait, and see. Then it should earn a frontpage story on digg.
- slick_rick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There won't be a Sirius iPod satellite radio because it would compete againts Sirius' own S50.
- ironbear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Being able to push a button and buy iTunes songs as they come up on Sirius would be killer, actually.
- h2d2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I hate iPod and Apple, but if this thing comes out and there aren't any other portable Sirius radio, I'd have to get it. Howard is leaving this friday...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0for some reason adding satellite radio just doesn't seem like a feature i'd want on an ipod. i mean having satellite radio on a device like an ipod kind of defeats the purpose of having an ipod... both devices are designed to contain (or stream) all the music that you'd ever want, having both just seems like overkill.
- xelloss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I would get one.
- djnick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0xm is crap you dont know what your saying. there equipment sucks, myfi sucks, o and a is lame, there playlists are repetative, and just because they came out before sirius doesnt make it better. sirius satelites and technology is way more advanced and they are continuing to get more adds than xm
- TheWino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0if this is real im goin gto pee myself...maybe
- kevbryant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0but apple got your money huh. hm. whatever the arguments, I rest my case.
- phishmmw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dell is releasing one too.
- mcbesq, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Actually, I have both a Zen and an iPod. The Zen is easier for making playlists on the fly and its battery management is better because it only caches 5 minutes at a time, instead of 45 minutes. This makes switching albums better because the entire next album is not being cached.
I can't speak to the Zen Vision, but comparing Zen Touch to 4G results in a lower price for a Zen with better sound and a wider variety of online music sources.
And kev, are you still using the earphones that came with the iPod? I'm no audiophile, but, really, anyone who knows anything replaces the sub-par standard headphones with something quality. I prefer the Etymotic 6i, although the wiring around the plug is somewhat flimsy. Creative's standard headphones are equally as bad as Apple's.
Think different, kev. No, really... think different. - pwandell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"xm is crap you dont know what your saying. there equipment sucks, myfi sucks, o and a is lame, there playlists are repetative, and just because they came out before sirius doesnt make it better. sirius satelites and technology is way more advanced and they are continuing to get more adds than xm"
What the hell? Name one piece of equipment Sirius has the is better than XM. That pile of ***** "portable" that Sirius has sucks. At least with the Myfi you can listen live, which is the whole point. O and A are much better than lame ass Hoo Hoo. He's a stupid old Jewish douche bag. -
