- OS2Guy, on 10/17/2007, -19/+81To those whining over the fact that you have to choose the AT&T service: get over it. You knew full well when you bought the iPhone that you had to also buy the AT&T service. If you don't want that service then don't buy the iPhone. Buy the damn iTouch instead. Quit your freaking whining!
- andrewcsayer, on 10/18/2007, -17/+54What? An iPhone story on digg?
- xtc46, on 10/16/2007, -1/+30I think if you can get a picture of Ron Paul playing the Wii taken with an iPhone you win at the internet.
- crazylinuxguy, on 10/16/2007, -5/+31This is super old news. why the hell is it here?
- rberger909, on 10/17/2007, -16/+39I'd take 100 iphone stories over one more Ron Paul story.
- inactive, on 10/17/2007, -10/+33People just love to bash Microsoft, but Apple is working very hard to replace them as the company people love to hate.
- FTLJohnson, on 10/17/2007, -1/+18If I ever meet him, I'm going to post a [PIC] of Ron Paul taken with my iPhone. Triple Threat Digg Cliche Showdown!
- inactive, on 10/16/2007, -4/+16Well, unless someone bought the iPhone to keep in the box, they either have AT&T service, or they bought it for the sake of hacking it, which voids the warranty.
- Dylson, on 10/17/2007, -4/+16Cuz it had iPhone in the title.
- ravage86, on 10/17/2007, -0/+12I had a feeling Apple would limit the iPhone to AT&T. I think I picked up on it back in January when they, you know, announced the iPhone and that it would be available for only AT&T.
- ZachSka87, on 10/17/2007, -7/+18You knew when you bought it that it was for use with AT&T only. All you iPhone owners who complain because it doesn't work with your carrier...it's not like it wasn't announced. Shut up already, pull the stick out of your buts, and quit complaining. You have no right to complain, you knew exactly what you were doing.
- inactive, on 10/17/2007, -7/+18Why is this still getting posted? We KNEW this since January, and REALLY knew it for the last few weeks.
- inactive, on 10/16/2007, -2/+10Yes. Some Americans love to bash the French, but the French government attempts to protect its citizens from corporate rip-offs while the U.S. Congress actually passes laws to support corporate rip-offs. DMCA? How about a broom handle up your ass in exchange for your numerous tax dollars?
- edzilla, on 10/16/2007, -2/+9At least, when it comes out next month in France, we won't have people whining because they have to take a contract with their phone... Since it is illegal over here.
- Tippis, on 10/16/2007, -0/+7That's what happens when you grow -- everyone loves the underdog, and Apple is no longer it.
- Trax91, on 10/16/2007, -0/+7Analogy overload! System terminated.
- inactive, on 10/16/2007, -4/+11You're ***** retarded.
- Gee1004, on 10/17/2007, -0/+6Just don't buy an iPhone
- inactive, on 10/18/2007, -6/+12Oh, and by the way, learn to read: The guy isn't complaining about having to buy the AT&T service, but rather the lack of warranty on the device itself. There should be no relationship between the service subscription and the warranty on the physical device.
Gutless twit. - inactive, on 10/16/2007, -2/+8"B-b-b-but their products are so shiny!"
- Elranzer, on 10/17/2007, -4/+10The warranty is part of the device contract, as well as the fact that you have to use it with AT&T. Do you think Verizon would support your phone hardware if you hacked it to activate it under Sprint??
- GOVATENT, on 10/16/2007, -0/+6Ron Paul gets Ubuntu on Wii, [PIC] from iPhone
- MicrosoftBob, on 10/18/2007, -0/+4Blasphemy!
- Velnich, on 10/16/2007, -3/+7This sort of stuff really makes me wish everyone would just abandon the iPhone and show Apple that there's a limit to how much ***** they are willing to put up with for one of their toys.
I know that will never happen though. Still, when the iPhone comes to Canada, I won't be switching to Rogers just to get one. - lickmyback, on 10/18/2007, -5/+9Typical fanboy response. If it was M$ you would jump on the opportunity to slander them for what is (coming from any company) a right royal shafting for their 'valued' customers. Learn some objectivity Mr. Apple-can-do-no-wrong.
- Shaman760, on 10/16/2007, -0/+4Petulant bitches.....
- jono10, on 10/16/2007, -1/+5Fruck MS and Bill Gates and their monopol....oh wait, carry on.
- bieber, on 10/17/2007, -3/+7So you're totally okay with the fact that if you don't choose Apple's preferred wireless service, they're free to deliver you defective hardware and you have no recourse? Because I can _totally_ see how the two should be connected...
- Infornography, on 10/16/2007, -4/+7if you want a a sidekick you go to T-Mobile, if you want the LGVX9800, you go to Verizon, what is so hard to understand that if you want the iphone you go to AT&T? Get over it.
- ButchersBoy, on 10/16/2007, -1/+4If you don't care why are you reading and replying to the thread? Go somewhere else.
- NSResponder, on 10/19/2007, -2/+5"Apple you better be a good company and honor your warranty "
Did you READ the warranty? It never covered user modifications to either the hardware or the software. Break your phone if you want to, but it's nobody's problem but yours if you do.
-jcr - Velnich, on 10/16/2007, -1/+4"Just to have it" isn't the best reason to buy something.
Otherwise I would agree with you. - sfacets, on 10/16/2007, -0/+3Surely enough people have buried it (as LAME) now for it to be banished from the front page?
- MicrosoftBob, on 10/16/2007, -1/+3Sorry, I know this is petty, but I just irks me when people use "MAC" when they mean either Mac or Apple.
- pevensen, on 10/16/2007, -0/+2The description is misleading. It makes it sound like you have to already be an AT&T customer when you by the iPhone. What Apple's warantee states is that you get 90 days free services regardless. 1 year hardware regardless. 2 years free support as long as you have an active AT&T account.
- hunchback, on 10/16/2007, -0/+2It costs $175 to cancel your AT&T contract on the iPhone, AT&T is the sole mobile network for iPhone for the product's first 5 years, there is a 2 year contract minimum when you buy the iPhone. So if you don't like AT&T, forget about the iPhone, save your money, the iPhone is not mandatory for your survival, you know?
- simd, on 10/16/2007, -0/+2Actually, it's not about loving the underdog. Corporates fundamentally change when they gain large market share: their innovation declines, they become risk adverse and their business has to become maintaining growth and revenue. Thus they start doing deals with AT&T to maximise revenue and keep the stock market happy, even if they have to take a hit on customer affection.
- inactive, on 10/16/2007, -0/+2Notice the quotation marks around my comment.
Go polish your own knob, *****. - scootinger, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1I have a solution to this problem....don't buy an iPhone!
- inactive, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1In other news, the earth is round! for those of you that didn't know
- cawpin, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1I think a charge just got added to the class action lawsuit. This is completely illegal, no matter what their TOS says.
- cl0r0x70, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1The reason why that doesn't happen is because there's no better alternative.
Instead of whining about the iPhone's limitations, why aren't people complaing that Palm, Nokia, or RIM haven't produced a better product worth jumping to? - craigm01, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1you should have bought an Ipod touch if you didn't want to use the phone. And by using the phone i mean activating with AT&T ... like you knew you would have had to
- Gndoab, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1I think the problem is, it shouldn't matter what apple has claimed the iPhone is for. It shouldn't matter that they say its only for ATT. if they were renting the phone to people, then it could matter, as it was still their property and therefore they could dictate the terms of use...but when I BUY something, I don't care what the creator had in mind...its not their piece of equipment anymore...its mine
- craigm01, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1you should have bought an Ipod touch if you didn't want to use the phone. And by using the phone i mean activating with AT&T ... like you knew you would have had to
- hunchback, on 10/16/2007, -1/+2Also what happens when you want to do something new, like the visual voice mail thingy, I remember not every carrier wanted to work with Apple at the time.
How long is Apple's contract with AT&T anyways? Was it 2 years or 5? - Velnich, on 10/16/2007, -1/+2Than our opinions share something in common.
- gthrank, on 10/16/2007, -2/+3Screw Apple. Seriously, if I pay $600 for a phone, a price which isn't discounted by any network subsidy from AT&T, I shouldn't be tied to AT&T.
And if they say that price is AFTER a network subsidy, then that implies the iPhone costs $850 before network subsidy - making it most overpriced piece of hype ever. - MacParrot, on 10/16/2007, -2/+3Can someone who didn't buy an iPhone or even really care for it bury you for being an ass? Yeah, I can do that.
- Vermifax, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1No, it's not. Apple "fanboys" have known of the iPhone/AT&T exclusivity since January. So, there's no "face-slapping".
