- Ireland, on 10/10/2007, -4/+31Chill people, please.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+17I wouldn't be surprised if they skipped '07
- image0434, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13Keynote is tons better than Powerpoint. It's easier to use, and looks a lot better. Pages takes some getting use to, but can make better looking documents. iNaming aside, I want to get ahold of this new '08 version
- xM55, on 10/02/2009, -0/+11Or maybe it was just a typo?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Apple iWork... included in OSX moving forward?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -7/+13iBoring.
- wizard13335, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5iWork has been around for a while. It's kinda late to start making jokes about it's name.
- retrospect, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8How did this make it to the first page? I think it's just a typo...the 8 IS next to the 7... hardly news...
it would make sense, but i'd rather hear about what they're offering not what they're calling it. - adude, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6iDontGoToTheAppleSectionThen
- Alegoo92, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I wouldn't expect it to be '07, Microsoft always brands their products for the next year- it just makes it sound more advanced.
- sruffelman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5What didn't you like about Pages, how it runs nicely on the Mac? Or could it be the awesome page previews it shows besides the docs? Perhaps you don't like the incredible templates that fit just about every need? Or how it knows the correct format for a bibliography? I cannot wait until a new release of iWork comes out. Name scheme aside, I love the suite and it certainly kicks the crap out of MS Office on the Mac.
- flipmeat, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Sounds like various internal parties are working on deflecting the inevitable blamethrower.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Pages makes much better looking documents than Word
Keynote ***** on Powerpoint from a massive height
so yes people with taste and who care about their work do - musicbear, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Yeah, I use it all the time. I stopped using NeoOffice once I started really digging into Pages. The upside is that it does a lot more than you would ever expect it to as an AppleWorks upgrade and its easy for novices to create pretty amazing Publisher type stuff with just some dragging and clicking. The only downside is that it is typically Apple: It's a blank white app that looks like it does very little when you first take a look at it. It's easy to dismiss. Once you actually start working with it and force it to show what it can do, you'll find a great app. I'm eagerly waiting for some missing features to be worked in and for it to run a little faster... taking advantage of core video and the new OS will be great too.
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4As compared to refreshing the Digg tech page every few seconds to troll an Apple post?
- funsutton, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Somebody at apple knows how to have fun with apple fanboys!
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Zzzz, then why did you comment?
- Jeffler, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4You do realise that it makes no sense to drop a recognizable brand?
- manitoba98xp, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3That would be great...doubtful, but we can dream...
- msgyrd, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Mac's MS Office '08 was supposed to be out this year, still hasn't been released. I'd say MS brands them a year ahead because their release schedule is so uncertain. Seeing how Apple isn't notorious for this, I'd let this slip as a mistake from the web site team.
- brianpeat, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I doubt it's a typo. Apple has never referred to Keynote with a date after it (as in Keynote '06). It's either iWork '06 or Keynote 3. You'd have to really stretch to type Keynote '08 and have it be a typo...unless you knew that there WAS such a thing.
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I would say it depends on the kind of document you want to write. If I'm writing just a word only document with no graphics, just for information dispersion, then MS Word is my main choice. Nearly everyone has it and will have no problem opening the document. If it has graphics or I need some pictures, then I prefer Pages. It acts more like a page layout program and allows for dragging and dropping whatever I need other than just words. Word also allows this, but it has some definite opinions on where those graphics are going to go or it takes much longer to accomplish the same thing.
I find Keynote to be vastly superior to PowerPoint (especially the ability to save presentations as Flash). It's saving as a PowerPoint document does leave much to be desired however and if I need a cross-platform solution then PowerPoint is my only choice. The right tool for the right job. What works best for you might be vastly different than what works best for me. Nice to have some choice though. - JeremyBanks, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2But '07 hasn't been announced either.
- alceria, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2iWork sounds like what I used to do before I got a digg account.
- cmadach, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Ford tried this with the Taurus, and we know how well that went. Or you don't know (Ford 500 flopped and the Taurus is coming back)
- acomj, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3probably only will work with the new OS. The new OS got delayed so it did too.
I ended up just using neo-officeJ which works well enough for my very infrequent office needs.. - kelly, on 10/10/2007, -4/+6funny how the people who claim not to care... are probably running Windows... which means that its not that they care or don't care... they simply don't have a choice.
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2jabber, don't you have some cheat code for Second Life to try out?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Yea this is obviously a factual slip-up which leads us to believe that Apple will be rolling out G5 PowerBooks next year, and a mid-range tower, and a complete office suite for only $99!!
Or, some website intern wasn't paying attention and hit the wrong key. And then someone with a clue came along and fixed it.
Which do you think is more likely? - kelly, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2actually... in this case... the program actually does help the document look better. The software makes it really easy to design really good looking documents.
- guimonkey, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Programs don't make documents look better creative people do.
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1btleecher has no life!!! http://www.btleecherhasnolife.com
- flickr, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Not you again!
- ricodued, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Or how it's complete rubbish for trying to actually WRITE a document? Formatting is a bitch. At least in Word or whatever else you can open it and just write. Keynote is the polar opposite of this, however. But I must say that PPT exporting needs to be worked on :-/
- Assezdefromage, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Iwould like to think that the 1st is more likely...
- celkin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Ok, apparently two people do.
- ricodued, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1And you're telling me that in the age of the iPod, without this "i" preceding the name of every product made by Apple is going to go unnoticed?
- celkin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0iWii?
- djagia, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0weeeeeeeeak
- bethune, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Duh, If they were going to name it '07 they would have released it before July.
- celkin, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Does anyone here actually USE iWork?
- richardiscool, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1iT'sOnTheFrontPageCunt
- sruffelman, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1There were shirts I saw in Thailand with an Apple toilet called iPood.
- John370, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0They should skip it. It's already August!! I'd much rather the new iMac and perhaps a new version of Logic Pro!!
- anteyekon4myst, on 10/10/2007, -18/+16iDontcare
- S1L3NTC, on 10/10/2007, -6/+2Don't worry, Sparkster...
Some of us agree with you regardless of the fanboy bury brigade that Apple's superiority complex has bred. - FredFredrickson, on 10/10/2007, -8/+3So this must be what all the Apple people do now that the iPhone is out... sit in front of their computer all day, with a blank look on their face, refreshing the Apple home page every few seconds, hoping to spot some little change that will give their life a purpose again for the next few months.
- phantom_mullet, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1Erm...how is this news? Somebody probably just hit a wrong key...that's why it was corrected. Sheesh, let's not overreact people, none of this "ZOMG APPLE IS HIDING SOMETHING!!!!11!!11"...
- 1jaxstate1, on 10/10/2007, -9/+4They should skip 07', 08, 09'... until they come up with something useful. I tried pages, and erased it off my Mac after 20 minutes of use.
- somegeologist, on 10/10/2007, -10/+4iWork? Work is soo like not cool, it will really like clash with my iLife.
