- JonGretar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+28Go and take the apple section out of your front page view.
That way we don't bother you and you don't bother us. - blackjack75, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23Topic: Apple.
You're welcome. - dzarkw, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21God I hope this is true. The mockups I've seen so far have been mostly *****. I want to see a real Apple-designed phone. If Apple puts out a phone, it will put excitement back into the cell phone industry. I'm up for a new phone soon, and there are literally zero phones that are even somewhat appealing. Please, Apple, release it soon!
- evildorko, on 10/12/2007, -7/+25ugh. stop with the iphone already. im the biggest apple whore i know and yet even i am sick to death of hearing about this thing.
- mDot, on 10/12/2007, -12/+30@molecool
The phrase is "Nip this in the _bud_". Bud being the beginning form of something that can grow larger; eg, a flower.
The phrase is most certainly not "Nip this in the butt.
Also; we don't have "French" benefits, and it's not the "Leaning Tower of Pizza". - blackjack75, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18Really, once you've tried both an ipod (nano) and dozens of phones (i write J2ME apps so I get to test lots of them) you only wish one thing: that those phone manufacturers get a clue about UI design and start imitating Apple.
I'd so much wish my also could be used as a phone rather than my phone trying to be a crappy mp3 player. - TriZz, on 10/12/2007, -13/+23Another rumor about the iPhone.
It's not coming. There will be no iButtons, iAntenna, iText, iCamera, iMusic, iTetris.
...get over it. Lets talk about something real like the full screen video iPod with the ghost clickwheel! - hotpepper, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11But moreso that you don't bother us.
- pjack91, on 10/12/2007, -13/+21Nip it in the bud...
- Hydroxyl, on 10/12/2007, -10/+16Things just got a bit more awkward.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6We already proved the iPhone is fake. *nods* Steve Jobs is the biggest Troller on the Net!
- FishPoisonCon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8guess how many "slaves" were used to make your shoes, clothes, computer, etc, etc...
- hexix, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7n8ron: I think the reason you use your phone for only phone calls is because it sucks at everything else.
If my phone had a good calendar tool, I would definitely use it. And why can't it? All my contacts are on my phone, I should be able to easily setup tasks and appointments that involve these contacts. Then my phone can remind me I have an appointment, since I always have my phone on me. And if I can't make it then I have the information on who to call to tell them, and even the device to do it right in front of me.
It just makes sense. The problem is the Motorolas of the world could care less about designing good software for their devices. - Stonelion, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7We sooooo need a rumors section under technology...
- JonGretar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Propably no focus on that at all. Apple has never really thought much about the business user. And it has never even considered going to the Enterprise market. But I like it like that.
- donsmith, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Unlocked GSM iPhone by Apple. What could be better?
- Antagonist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I can't wait honestly. I'm deciding not to buy an ipod until this comes out, because I KNOW that I'm going to be completely gutted with a useless iPod when I really want the iPhone. my, how consumerist.
- akatsuki, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The only way this will work is if Apple launches an MVNO so they can control the experience. I imagine they would want Cingular or T-mobile so they have a GSM network for more world compatibility, although a 3G network would definitely provide a lot of advantages and position them to be cutting-edge.
It would also allow them to leverage .Mac into a mobile portal as well. The biggest problem is that bulk data prices are quite high for MVNOs to prevent adequate competition. Therefore I imagine it will be a "premium" priced service.
I think this will work if they can still allow for truly unlimited data, but I have a feeling this will be truly prohibitive in price. - dzarkw, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"Most credible insiders and analysts"
Credible my ass. - Msonier, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6"Could care less" is wrong. If i can care less then i have at least a small degree of caring in me.
"couldn't care less" is right. The is no degree of care in me. What you say is so unimportant that i couldn't care less even if i tried. - johanm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I believe it when i see it... on apple.com
and not some some rumor site. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6I'm off to listen to my bluetooth enabled true video iPod. I bought it on April 1st 2006 and use it to watch movies that I downloaded from the iTunes Movie Store that was launched the same day. I may pick up one of those new Nanos that were released at the WWDC though.
These rumors are always so accurate. - splammo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I dugg you down because I don't like your icon.
/joke - n8r0n, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9I very rarely use the interface on my phone. I hit the shortcut button for my list of numbers pick the one I want and hit the send button. I use my phone to make and recieve calls only and nothing else.
- Rabid, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8You said it. wasn't it already proven that the majority of people don't want all these "extras" on their cellphones. I'll buy a good sturdy cellphone, and an iPod separately.
- abid786, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3why would it be marked as lame for that ?????
- dcharti, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Anonymous sources told secretive insiders that a rumored rumor is in the works. This is from reliable, unnamable individuals who have an inexplicable pipeline straight to the intern of the assistant to the chief vice super executive in charge of making up crap.
Dear jebus can this stuff please stop. - deadbaby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I really doubt Apple wants to get into the cell phone service market. Cell phone hardware? Sure. Service? Ugh, why? What do they have to gain? I suspect the iPhone will be offered to customers like any other phone. You can buy it at retail for a fairly hefty price or service providers can offer it to you along with a service plan. Apple makes their $$ either way.
As far as "controlling the platform" goes I don't see that as a major problem. Cell phone providers make all their money off service plans. If the iPhone is a huge success I see the cell providers cooperating with Apple just so they can sell more data plans to customers. Maybe Apple will work out some profit sharing system for ringtones/games with the providers who offer the iPhone bundled with a service plan.
....or maybe this is all BS rumors that are making AppleInsider rich off ad views. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3But who will carry such a phone, cingular carries the "itunes" phones which you cant buy music "over the air" and cant bluetooth songs to the phone, the itunes phones have no way of connecting over the air to the real itunes store to buy songs, so either cingular needs to welcome the future and get with the program, or i am sure this phone will go to Verizon
- molecool, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7English is not my native language boys - cut me some slack (hope I got this one right ;-)
- khaled, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Lets add a new category, "Apple Rumors" :)
- Antagonist, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4C'mon, by definition they're not slaves, they get paid and can leave at any time. What's your definition of a slave?
- scubasuit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1hey have you guys heard about Apple's new iCant? as in iCant take any more of this *****, everyone i know hates having an mp3 player on their cell phones, they complain that it drains the battery, and by the way, how do you hear the music? through the cell phoner speaker? let's see what sJobs got up his sleeve...
- shuffle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Check out Missing Sync :
http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_windowsmobile.php
Your welcome. - grayapple, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2They may be working on one, but it may never see the light of day - apparently they were working on a Newton replacement back in 2000 and ditched it.
- abid786, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I dont understand why all these articles on AppleInsider begin with "APPLE COMPUTER..."... We know what the company's name is by now.
- rkettner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Sooner than expected? Wasn't this already expected to launch... several times over? I'm a mac fan... but these titles are getting old. Let's wait and see what they do...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If this happens, I will videocord smashing my old phone and buying iphone. P.S> Dig posting sux
- DoctorDuckey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Double True--and a section for tutorials and starters for n00bs.
But being a fanboy, 'OMG, I CAN'TTT WAITZORSZZZ!' - DrunkMonk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Why are some people saying this is going to be awesome and they haven't even seen the design yet or have any idea of what features this device will have? It's stupid to hype up something you have absolutely no knowledge about.
- seantrades, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If this happens, I'm breaking my contract with T-Mobile and ditching my Blackberry 7105t for the iPhone. It seems like the Windoze folks just don't get it...that us Mac users are somehow insane for being so enthusiastic about Apple products.
There's a reason so many of us are passionate about Apple. Apple products simply provide the best user experience and the most beautiful, elegant UI and ID. This wasn't always the case (think Newton) but Apple has for the past 5 years really done an amazing job of making their products the "sexiest" on the market again. SJ wouldn't let a less than amazing product pass through, so the iPhone is sure to be an incredible leap forward in mobile phone design should it actually be released. - billybadtail, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2DiggFiltr.com ... summary "cannot contain" "Apple"
- FishPoisonCon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2uh... thanks, but only tiger is supported...
and no, you'RE welcome ;^)
btw... why are my first comments being dugg down?? no one seems to have anything to say in response, but they seem to disagree - anyone willing to actually voice an opinion instead of just digging it down??? - squiggs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I have a Sony Ericsson (not a sony freak, my sister chose the model) z520a and am very impressed with the interface, j2me, has calendar, reminders, can copy contacts from one SIM to another. And, for around $8 on ebay i got a USB cable, which with free software backs up the phone, syncs the calendar with outlook, can create custom themes, and is really nice. The w500 (i think) has all this plus bigger screen, and 256mb memory. And you can get it free with new contract on wirefly. I mostly just make calls, but when i want to do something else, it works really well and was free with our family plan.
- meatmcguffin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Something to do with wanting to be seen as a legit news source after Apple started clamping down on the bloggers.
As soon as powerpage came under the spotlight, appleinsider suddenly switched to a very formal style of reporting - McoreD, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"For Apple, a long-running concern about offering an iPod cell phone is the risk that it may cannibalize the low-end flash player market, which includes its 1GB and smaller capacity iPod digital music players."
So who cares? I don't get it! If people buy the iPhone instead of the iPod Shuffle for a higher price, isn't it better for Apple? - zanzaman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1tmoore44: your Mac OS X Mobile video, is just some kind of Mac OS skins and some sort of startup screen mixed with very well known Nokia icons..... PURE CRAP
Part of my job is reviewing latest phones as soon as they appear and a lot coming from Nokia, think I know them a little....
If the iPhone/iTalk/iName It As You Wish, appear finally one day I hope it'll look more like this instead (especially if it include kinda Sony Ericsson camera part and not a crappy Nokia camera)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Gysb9JYFn3k - hobgobbler, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2It's white.
- Zolk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Most credible insiders and analysts have been saying the iPhone won't be released until mid-2007 at the earliest.
- thecharliefarm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1personally, the idea of phone that is simple to use with a decent interface that looks cool and isn't loaded with stupid features like a crap mp3 player, a crap camera and a crap everything else. phones have become the jack of all trades, master of none. some are so overloaded with stuff that it makes using one so friggin difficult, frustraing and time consuming.
