- stukdog, on 04/30/2008, -7/+43That 3.06 seems like a really huge boost in speed.
Though, I wish it was a picture graph instead so I didn't have to compare all the numbers. Too late in the day. - doberman112, on 04/30/2008, -12/+43Lets take Pictures of Something that never changed on the outside... Still a awesome computer. If only I had the money............
- chrispeters, on 04/30/2008, -15/+46I don't care what anyone says, Mac monitors are just plain awesome.
Oh, and I'm a PC user. - FDDIcent, on 04/30/2008, -11/+42Why do people get so upset about seeing articles involving apple computers on digg? Nobody makes you read the articles, it's just information put out there for those who are interested. Instead of spamming the comments of said articles with your hastily displayed disdain for all things apple, start submitting articles dealing with Windows, Linux or whatever your interested in. In fact please do, I have an Apple computer with OSX, Windows XP and Ubuntu running on it so I would be more than happy to read about other OS's.
- 2Bnor2B, on 04/30/2008, -5/+35The submitter failed to mention the new 3.06GHz iMac's include a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS with 512MB memory.
- Kazbaeden, on 04/30/2008, -5/+34Why did they bother taking new pictures? Just repost the old ones and say they're new. It'd have the same effect.
- coollettuce, on 04/30/2008, -8/+27Mac users are PC users too. PC != Windows
- inactive, on 04/30/2008, -3/+19great with Boot Camp for games
- rehkcts, on 04/30/2008, -4/+18It needs a matte option for the screen. Not everyone wants a glossy screen!
- vault, on 04/30/2008, -5/+19I wish they had kept the G4 cube. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:PowerMac_Cube.j ...
- threemagic, on 04/30/2008, -9/+21You have no idea what you are talking about, do you?
- rypic7, on 04/30/2008, -1/+12No.
- laserob, on 04/30/2008, -2/+12I wish upon a star.
- Bonobo, on 04/30/2008, -2/+11its a community, and people like to talk to each other about the stories whether they like the story or not.
- RomeyRome, on 04/30/2008, -5/+14I don't care how many Mac stories there are, but unboxing pics of something insignificant as this is ludicrous. It's packaged the same as the initial release.
- Altotus, on 04/30/2008, -2/+11It should be noted that the $200 Dell monitor is much different than the iMac one. If you get the 24" iMac, you can get the same display (same manufacturer in Taiwan) with the same resolution, but it costs > $700 (or, at least that is what it was last I checked). The big difference is that Dell offers a wide array of lower-quality lower-resolution monitors that Apple doesn't, and if that's an area you feel comfortable cutting corners, then Apple doesn't have a solution for you (though the newer 20" iMac displays are lower-end).
- danny951, on 04/30/2008, -9/+18OMGHZ FoR ONLY $500 U CANZ BUYZ A L33T B0X OF PaRTs AND BiLD UR OWNZ BETTERZ FAZTER UPGRADEABLE PIECE OF SH!T THAT BLoWS THE Do0RS OFF THiS G@RBAGE AND L0oKS LIKE SH!T To00o!!!111!!111
- Jaliyl, on 04/30/2008, -1/+10Based on your comment history I have determined that you are a troll, please go drown yourself in the nearest possible body of water. Good day Sir.
- phrenzy, on 04/30/2008, -1/+10On the other hand, you don't get laid.
- inactive, on 04/30/2008, -1/+9Because he wanted to look 1337 and hardcore geek pointing that out, that's why.
- Flashman, on 04/30/2008, -0/+8Why?
- AppleMacStud, on 04/30/2008, -6/+13over9000000 = fail
- pennyfan87, on 04/30/2008, -0/+7Tell that to Apple's marketing dept.
http://www.apple.com/getamac/ads/ - zakatov, on 04/30/2008, -0/+7Then you are not the target audience for this machine. While you keep wasting time and money trying to keep your computer barely above obsolescence piece by piece, I will spend more money now, get a faster computer, enjoy it for 3 years, sell it for a good chunk of what I paid for it, then get one that has everything brand new and once again faster than yours. But hey, whatever floats your boat
- insertAliasHere, on 04/30/2008, -0/+7"Mac monitors are just plain awesome."
Obviously his comment was in reply to that. Oh, and the "ALL IN ONE" computer uses a mac monitor, "bozo." - Jaliyl, on 04/30/2008, -0/+7Wow, are YOU really that retarded? I'm pretty sure he's talking about standalone apple monitors, not iMacs.
- rockandrollmark, on 04/30/2008, -3/+9Honestly, I don't care. I'd take the slightly slower 'MBP' any day
- Spartan225, on 04/30/2008, -3/+9I knew I was going to get dugg down for this comment, even though I am going to buy one on the weekend. But in all honesty we have had a lot of iMac news. This is just an unboxing, but the iMac has not changed in form factor so what is the point? Even the benchmark is not that big of a deal. This is why the PC and Linux people call us fanboys because we digg any new Apple announcement 50 times a day, no matter how repetitive it is.
- potterboy, on 04/30/2008, -12/+18Looks good, when are we gunna get a mid-sized tower.
- insertAliasHere, on 04/30/2008, -3/+9Not any time in the near future. And it sucks, because some of us like OS X and want to be able to upgrade hardware, but don't want to pay $2800 for a base model mac pro. Or we want an iMac spec'd computer without the monitor (less $$ for the same functionality). But Apple knows their market very well. When they know that they can make a large profit by introducing it, they will. But right now, the majority of their customers either want an all in one, a low end bring-your-own-peripherals, or a workstation class for a desktop.
- Me1000, on 04/30/2008, -6/+12I agree, but im not going to pay $600 for a monitor, when I could get an HP, or Dell, or whatever for $200.
They look great, but not $400 great! - digitalpencil, on 04/30/2008, -0/+5^ Because it's not as simple as the response time and contrast ratio myth. You're trying to compare ***** TN panels to IPS, they're in a completely different ball-game hence the difference in price (across all manufacturers, Samsung included). What's the point in having dynamic 1000:1 con ratios when they fall to 100:1 outside of 25 degrees? Not to mention bleed and VA on Acers!
- insertAliasHere, on 04/30/2008, -1/+6And your iMac gets you laid?
- inactive, on 04/30/2008, -0/+5Mac, not MAC, tard.
- Xcel, on 04/30/2008, -0/+5I wonder how long that took you to type..
- zakatov, on 04/30/2008, -0/+5I vote this to be the most retarded post here
- insertAliasHere, on 04/30/2008, -1/+6Ok, seriously.
You're the kind of mac-worshiping fanboy that gives the Windows users ammunition against the whole Mac community. I own a mac and love it, but you are an embarrassment to us all. You're arrogant and smug, and obviously believe that owning a Mac is a lifestyle choice. It's _NOT_. It's no different than me buying a Ford or a Chevy. Both get me where I need to go, using mostly the same mechanism. They have similar features implemented differently.
What it comes down to, is that you bought a tool. That or a toy. And either way, you're not better than anyone else because you could afford a more expensive one. Just because someone else can do the same thing on their cheaper computer doesn't mean you should get all defensive. - Jaliyl, on 04/30/2008, -0/+5Actually, its just 60 Mhz
- franklymister, on 04/30/2008, -1/+6I don't know - go do an unboxing of the latest HP Pavillion or whatever, and let's see how interested people are.
- inactive, on 04/30/2008, -1/+6Way to bring in politics. ***** off and die.
I hate politics, never an article where people can refrain from a cheapshot. - zakatov, on 04/30/2008, -0/+5So it's got more components, slower processor, smaller screen, and a slower graphics card... What exactly is your point?
- InvaderDem, on 04/30/2008, -4/+9I say this on my comment further below - but it's the same computer with updated hardware. Exactly why does this merit its own article when various PC's always update their hardware and it goes unannounced?
- Me1000, on 04/30/2008, -2/+7you are right,
Im liking the 1066MHz FSB a lot more than I am the clock speed of the chip!
but the 3.06GHz proc is cool too! - MacParrot, on 04/30/2008, -2/+7Same answer I gave AppleMacStud. There are plenty of people who enjoy OS X and will choose it even over something that costs less. Why the heck do you care?
- darienphoenix, on 04/30/2008, -3/+8More expense = better product!!!!!
Idiot. - lattin1, on 04/30/2008, -8/+12Why are iMacs hyped so much? I don't have a problem with Apple. I actually just bought a Macbook Pro, but if you buy a new iMac you're just paying more money for the logo. For $300 dollars less you can get a mid-level XPS system with quad core processors, 4 GB of RAM, the same graphics card, and much more room for expansion. For the same price as a new iMac you can get 8 GB of RAM and a faster graphics card. This is a complete rip off. And please, don't give me the "Mac OS is better" argument. If you know how setup a computer the right way that argument is null.
- rypic7, on 04/30/2008, -0/+4Sorry, what the hell was that link and how was it relevant to this discussion?
- digitalpencil, on 04/30/2008, -0/+4a) it's spelt 'awful'
b) Refresh rates are completely irrelevant in terms of LCDs.. you're talking about response times
c) These are LG IPS panels, the same present in hi-end NECs and ACDs with 800/750:1 ratios (again H/S-IPS not ***** TN)
d) quit spreading FUD
These machines are designed with print/web developers in mind and are staple in arthouses across the world. They weren't built for kids playing games obsessed with response times and ratios thinking their Belinea TN can hold it's own against the likes of these because the manual told you it had a 10000:1 dynamic ratio.
They're great displays.. personally I prefer my NEC at work over ACDs but can afford neither for home use and why Apple hasn't offered the new iMac in a matte option is beyond me.. the gloss straight ***** with my spyder. - inactive, on 04/30/2008, -0/+4You're about 18 months late with that joke
- Marshalrusty, on 04/30/2008, -0/+4The processor, sure, but what does that have to do with the unit itself? I don't see any photos of the processor...
