- CamZak, on 10/10/2007, -1/+31'Grain of salt', Mr. Professor. *sigh* Sure you aren't Gilligan?
- inkhead, on 10/10/2007, -2/+23Why is anyone doubting this? Steve Jobs said on Stage in front of 10,000+ people that the NEXT iPods WOULD BE OS X based.
Geeze. - psyckboy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12So what's stopping you from waiting a year?
- Puppetfunk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10That would have been a great comment other than you had you turn it into an "amerika sux0rz" argument.
- bobcrotch, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12People are burying your comment because...? How many folks keep their iPod in their pocket/bag/not in their hand while using it? I personally use(d) mine while riding to and from work every day and it stayed in my pocket. I could change tracks and adjust volume if needed with out looking at the device. To me and probably lots of other people this is an important function. I suppose touch screens are all the rage right now though.
- bittie, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10THEIR STORY!
- diggface5000, on 10/10/2007, -17/+26touch screen has got to be the most retarded idea ever... when the novelty wears off you're going to be mad that you can't control your ipod without looking at it
- muzzle, on 10/10/2007, -5/+12Grain of salt indeed, however I am really looking forward to the new ipod, and of course (if it's any good) I'll be buying one as soon as apple will let me. Hopefully it wont do too many things I don't need in my ipod, but whatever,
- adml_shake, on 10/10/2007, -4/+11I wish that they had waited a while with the touch screen thing. I'd like see how the iPhones are holding up in a year or so before I throw down money on a iPod with a touchscreen.
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9And yet here you are commenting again on tech you don't care about. How sad, lonely, and pointless your life must be.
- rjcarr, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6The next ipod will have a touch screen and be running a micro version of OSX. Guess what? So does the iPhone. Why would they do anything else? If the iPhone works, don't break it, just pull out the phone. You don't have to be a mac insider to know how this story will end.
- frostieDude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Which event are you referring to?
- MScrip, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Can you hold a touch iPod with one hand and navigate with your thumb? I love the click wheel, with a flick of your thumb you can scroll through hundreds of songs.
Every video I see of the iPhone, it looks like it takes 2 hands to scroll through your songs. - oldhick, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Good consumer. Thats what life's all about! If you have one that works already, maybe use it until its broken at least. Alright, never mind, the new iPod will be bad ass!
- hellmit, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3you do understand that this here website is kinda a hangout for gadget enthusiasts right?
Also, do you really think that mentality is exclusive to only americans? right - daveheinzel, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Speculation about speculation. How totally awesome.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4The iPhone touchscreen has gotten rave reviews. I would prefer the technology now, before it gets old and outdated.
- bigtizzle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3@ maiku00
So you're saying if I were to name a band and a song, you could find your way to that song without looking at your iPod at all? Really? And I'm the one being buried. For as much as you people on Digg seem to brag about your gigantic, eclectic music libraries you would think some would be humble enough to admit that they couldn't find Wilco just by listening to the clicks. - ravi7791, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Indeed. For example, they could implement gestures for the now playing screen: Quickly swipe two fingers from side to side to skip a song, Slide and hold two fingers side to side to fast forward/rewind, and slide your fingers up and down to change volume. to stop, simply tap one finger and hold for half a second.

- vh1`, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4not that I agree with him, but I think you guys are missing his point
he is saying that with the clickwheel ipods you CAN navigate without looking, but with the touch screen interface that's going to be much harder - mentor972, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4When do you use your iPod without looking at it? When you go to the next track? When you press play and pause? When you adjust the volume? Well guess what? I can do all those things on my iPhone without looking at it. The volume is NOT touch screen and the headphones have a handy remote on them. Problem solved.
- Rileyper, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2LIEEES....SLAANDER
- molecool, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I have the 604 and love it - was one of the few PMPs available in the U.S. that had a 480x272 screen. However, the new iPhone has an 800x600 resolution and I expect the coming iPod to have the same form factor and resolution. So, I would probably not buy the new model - the form factor once was ahead of Apple in terms of a video player, but Archos has only made evolutionary improvements since.
- frostieDude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I have no problem navigating the iPhone with one hand. The only thing I can't do with one hand is "the pinch". Navigating the songs - no problem.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5With the multi-touch interface, I'm sure Apple would give us easily accessible ways to change tracks and volume without looking at the unit. Let's be honest, there was a learning curve with your current iPod--albeit a a small one. Similarly, there will be a learning curve with the new iPods that you will get used.
- morcheeba, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2You can control the volume, pause, and song advance without using the touch screen. The headphones have a one-button remote built in, and the player automatically stops if you remove the headphones from the jack. It's not as flexible as my nano, so I still keep that for use in the car.
- MacParrot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Coming out of the closet at last. You're a brave soul!
- spazzcat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2it is so much faster on the iphone to scroll though a long list of songs. and you can touch the screen anywhere to scroll
- plexxer, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I find it hard to believe Apple will be able to shove the touchscreen, battery and hard drive in a package that will be just as thin as the current gen iPods. Would you be willing to give up some pocket real estate for a bigger screen?
- ideapower, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3You could of been nicer
- gjunkie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The only thing that sounds kind of strange is why would Apple give the iPod OS X if all it's gonna do is play music and videos. If they're going as far as giving it OS X, I hope it does so much more.
- madmage, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Nope, it only takes one hand, I make on-the-go playlists all the time with one hand. It is a little right-hand biased though, so it might be a little more difficult for a lefty.
- DaffyDuck, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Needs iTunes support, portrait orientation support, to be better looking. The 160GB model is nearly twice as thick and twice the weight of the biggest iPod. It's got some interesting features but many of them cost extra so the price starts looking less competitive. Anyway, overall it's a nice product but the lack of iTunes support is a dealbreaker. 160GB would be nice though...
- stupidStan, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2iGay
- frostieDude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Probably because they want it to have cover flow and use Core Animation for the UI.
- motheroats, on 10/10/2007, -4/+5they need to hurry up and come out with this ipod, i need a new ipod, so i dont have to buy the iphone.
- DaffyDuck, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1http://www.handhelditems.com/ipod-earphone-wired-click-wheel-remote-p-4753.html
- stupidStan, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2ummm... then don't buy one right away...
- maiku00, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4uuuhh, if you aren't retarded, it's not that ***** hard. I NEVER look at my ipod, and I've navigated it successfully in my pocket for the past 3 years.
- ryanknapper, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Women who say "No, it's the perfect size."
- griz, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Sweet! I'll cash in on my NEWIPOD PPX shares on Popsci.com.
Loving my AAPL shares too!!! - muzzle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Ah yeah, I had my 5.5G 30GB Video ipod stolen at the start of the week, really pissed me off at the time but there's nothing i can do about it other than get a replacement, and forget about using insurance, my excess is about 70% the price of a new 5.5G video.
- frostieDude, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I can adjust the volume on my iPhone while it is in my pocket. There is a volume up/down button on the side of the device. I can also pause the music and skip to the next song with it in my pocket (using the click thing on the headphones.)
And I would guess that adjusting the volume, pausing, and maybe advancing the song are about all you can do with any other iPod without looking. - rustla, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1My 3rd-gen iPod broke 2 days ago, I'm holding off on replacing it with all these rumours floating about.
When the rumour mill really starts picking speed, something is usually released, with any luck it might be just what i was looking for. - Lavarock, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1dugg just for title
- DaffyDuck, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Your right!
- cave, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Really? What color is it? :P
