For a second I thought someone had fired Steve Jobs. - reeder, on 10/12/2007, -38/+180Wait, wait, self-absorbed, self-promoting, indignant annoying scenester ***** are attracted to apple products because it makes them feel Superior?!?!
Yeah, they do. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -37/+146"Apple's main weakness is its brainwashed, smug fanboy base who send abuse to journalists who write stories they don't like through anonymous accounts in case their mummies find out."
- imikedaman, on 10/12/2007, -30/+114It's find of funny how people believe The Inquirer to be a reputable news source.
- stuartjmoore, on 10/12/2007, -5/+73and the Mac guy didnt even own a computer...
- patience, on 10/12/2007, -30/+89I never understood how a pompous know it all was supposed appeal to the ordinary person.
Most people are the PC Guy.
Apples = Always Paying Plenty but Lacking Economic Sense - MikeBasinger, on 10/12/2007, -10/+66Message from Dell Guy: Dude, are you getting fired.
- joe90210, on 10/12/2007, -24/+77umm he was the perfect representation of how apple fanboys act, dunno what the problem was..
- Chompy, on 10/12/2007, -17/+64"Just shut up, nerds.
If your friends would "make fun of you for getting a Mac", then your friends are nerds. In the REAL world, people make fun of people for their appearance, race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. NOT what kind of computer they own. That only happens with nerds.
It's ok nerds; no one is going to take Windows or Linux away from you. There's no need to cry."
I hate to tell you this, but.. you just posted a two paragraph comment in a Digg thread about Mac vs. PC. - DarknessGP, on 10/12/2007, -13/+50The problem was that that apple fanboyism only appealed to apple fanboys. They obviously can't make enough money only selling to fanboys.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -18/+54Which is funny because the guy who plays the 'PC Guy' (Hodgeman) is actually a big time Mac fan.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -14/+47Seems pretty accurate. Most of the mac users on digg seem to be smug-ass twits, at least those that jump up and down at every opportunity to tell the world that ZOMG macs are the best!!!
- jballer, on 10/12/2007, -8/+36That's what his agent said: "Justin is a movie star, not a commerical guy."
Whatever helps him keep his self esteem up after getting canned. - TenebrousX, on 10/12/2007, -3/+31http://digg.com/apple/Apple_fires_smug_little_twit/who
- hootdoodie, on 10/12/2007, -13/+42"Which is funny because the guy who plays the 'PC Guy' (Hodgeman) is actually a big time Mac fan."
Well DUH. It's a mac ad. For people who already own Macs. Like ads for Coca Cola. Who doesn't know Coke. It's just to keep you feeling cool and superior about your choice of product. I don't own a Mac and after watching the ad I'm not one bit more inclined to buy one. - Phocion55, on 10/12/2007, -7/+32I was hoping that the [/sarcasm] would be implied......obviously not
- mink78, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24You don't need to tell everyone whose comment you like. All you have to do is click on the thumbs up sign. Digg will do the math for us.
Thanks, and have a nice day. - NewChar, on 10/12/2007, -12/+31IRONY
- eplawless, on 10/12/2007, -10/+29personally I'd rather see someone berated for their choice of operating system rather than their race, gender etc. somehow you've managed to equate "not a nerd" with "bigot"? congratulations
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+27Its not the actor, after all, most people realize hes just acting the role. However the lies, and FUD that he espoused as the 'mac character' and the way the ads wrongly imply a lot is not a good thing.
For instance, one of them implies that a PC can't use any Japanese digital cameras, only a mac can, and a lot of uneducated people probably believed that.
After all, aren't there laws that are designed to prevent outright lying in commercials? Why should apple not fall under its auspices? - StephenChow, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19I'm pretty sure they got tired of The Daily Show stomping a mudhole in em everytime.
- TheNik, on 10/12/2007, -11/+23I'm not even a Mac user and I loved those commercials. :"(
- Shadowe, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17 since its obviously satire, and very funny to anyone who is not a fan boy, lets all keep digging it back up and see if we can keep the fanboys reading it. +1 from me.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16I love this article, it's the perfect flamebait
- chix0r, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16well I was going to say...
if we judge by commercials, mac users are hoodie wearing hipsters and dell users are stoners. - RandomGuySteve, on 10/12/2007, -10/+22Wow, nice troll. I don't even mean that sarcastically, I mean thats some damn fine work.
I bow to your trollmanship. It takes courage to post that on a Mac site like this. - marcusb, on 10/12/2007, -6/+18Steve Jobs got fired from Apple again?
- millixaw, on 10/12/2007, -7/+19It's not Justin Long's fault. Apple wrote his lines!
- antispimmer, on 10/12/2007, -6/+17"Alas while viewing audiences felt that while the Mac Guy may have proved his case, most of them wanted to pummel the smug little twit into a coma and jump on his bleeding body until the cops arrived."
Amen - joe90210, on 10/12/2007, -10/+21"This is of course a bad thing when most people perceive Apple's main weakness is its brainwashed, smug fanboy base who send abuse to journalists who write stories they don't like through anonymous accounts in case their mummies find out."
so so true - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+17How about the obvious problem with this terminology for the last two decades:
The Mac IS a PC.
Duh. - xswag, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15Your right in a way. Most of my friends that use Mac's are pretty cool. They really don't know anything about computers so Mac's are perfect for them. Less trouble to run into on the Internet. Myself, I haven't owned a Mac since an Apple 2 +....way back. Apple just doesn't allow enough hardware choice for my tastes and I like PC Gaming.
Some of the Mac users on Digg seem to be just like the guy in the commercial. Its like they try to mirror that image. I remember when the first commercial came out and the Fanboys were loving the guys attitude. You marking this as "Inaccurate" puts you in the "SLT" (Smug Little Twit) Club. Just joking . but I do like the sound of it. SLT Club. - h00ligan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13followed by, "come by my house for a fatty"
- NewChar, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16Heh, thanks for the laugh dude.
- Chompy, on 10/12/2007, -21/+31Some of the ads in question:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jz1arPaSSqo&mode=related&search= - manicdvln, on 10/12/2007, -8/+18I guess the maczis are hard at work to silence the truth just like Hermann Goering, by digging down my post.
- jtbndy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12Hated those commercials. Its nice to see companies steering away from just insult throwing advertising. I hated Miller when it would just try to insult Bud (Man Laws are pretty good), whereas all Bud was doing was making funny commercials.
Its about time Apple tries actually to sell its product, rather than just try to bash PC users. - mrfreeziexp, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12Wow, that shocks me for some reason.
- traviswalters, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14I believe actors can only be as smug as the material they are interpreting.
- jtbndy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Any advertising that just tries bashing the competition irks me. The way it comes across to me is they know their product is not as good as their competitors, so instead of trying to promote their own product, they just try and bring down the competition with the insult bashing.
Regardless of who does it, I think there are better forms of advertising out there. - Hegemony, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8It wasn't the actor that made the character smug, it was the writing. They wanted to get across that Mac people should feel superior... or so they say.
- Phocion55, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14So it's alright for Mac users to completely bash ANYTHING not related to Apple in some way, shape, or form simply because it doesn't have the Apple logo on it.......
......but I can't crack a joke about how "smug" they are?
I see how it is. - vvvv, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8The scary part is Apple OK'd that commercial in the first place. I guess all the smug little twits at Apple who reviewed the ad campaign watched the smug little twit on the screen and said to themselves: "he seems just like a regular guy." Shows how out of touch they are.
- kyrobeshay, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12...Your source is the ***** inquirer.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I have mad respect for you and I + you because I know there are legions of mac fanboys who are digging you down right now
- Zerostatic, on 10/12/2007, -8/+14Personally, I liked the commercials, and though I'm a PC user, I have to say at times, they made me interested in Macs. I recently bought a PC and I even looked into getting a Mac and I'm sure a part of the reason was that commercial. I ended up getting a PC afterall but mainly because of value (For under 1G, I got a 19inch Flat panel, 2 Gigs of Ram, 320 GB Harddrive, DVD/RW, 256MB Graphics Card, etc.).
- mikedpirone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7The Inquirer and The National Enquirer are completely different entities.
- Boondoggle, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12Wait... are you trying to be rational in this thread????
Clearly it is all about the Nazis! Come on man, get with the program! - aristotle0dude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Most of the smug twits I see around here are the PC fanboys.
I used to be a PC user for years (from DOS/Win 3.1 to XP) before I bought a mac.
He is not doing anymore ads because he had other commitments such as starring in the next Die Hard movie with Bruce Willis. -
