- tommyny04, on 06/18/2009, -0/+17and isnt it, 1,2 bucklemyshoe ... there's no 3 there
nursery rhyme FAIL - inactive, on 06/18/2009, -0/+14Hey, 123, are you extremely interested in science and programming? Really??
- inactive, on 06/18/2009, -2/+11Don'ty you feel like an idiot when you see that they filed for hte patent THIS WEEK?
Also...it is funny...when other companies announce a technology silimar to an Apple technology...just days after Apple introduces it, you bitch about how they stole from Apple.
But that is hte life of an Apple fanboy. Throw logic and reason out the window to defend a ***** computer company whose founder doesn't care if you lived or died as long as he got one last purchase out of you before you did. - inactive, on 06/18/2009, -1/+8I have the feeling you don't know anything about science or programming. Are you a troll or just a moron?
- bloodhound01, on 06/18/2009, -0/+7Really? Because I'd rather sit here and just move my hand 1/2 an inch.
- supermanred, on 06/18/2009, -1/+7Settle down children. This is one reason I hate getting any microsoft OR apple news on Digg, the kids get involved in a flame war.
Sounds like Apple is just following its course of innovative user interface. Everyone is taking cues from Nintendo who managed to get motion control working on a gamecube (the Wii)
I for one would like it if I could make a gesture to switch windows or whatever just by waving my hand in front of my isight camera - supguy, on 06/18/2009, -0/+6LOL
- slicecom, on 06/18/2009, -12/+18Idiot. This patent was filed long before Natal was unveiled. Try again.
- inactive, on 06/18/2009, -0/+5123, it's just the fact that on almost every post you remind us that you are "extremely interested in science and programming." We get it! Please stop. Troll.
- coelomate, on 06/18/2009, -4/+9Because Microsoft totally unveiled Natal and then was like 'say, we should probably patent this' instead of doing it year in advance of unveiling it.
- deslock, on 06/18/2009, -1/+5Folks, the Apple patent was just filed this week. Please, let's not get out the defense force.
- tommyny04, on 06/18/2009, -2/+6hehe
- DerryQuinn, on 08/17/2009, -3/+7Filed over a year ago. Published for the world to see on USPTO's website this week...
- Misterberu, on 06/18/2009, -2/+6As opposed to you who just enjoys regular balls.
- btschul, on 06/18/2009, -1/+4These comments suck.
- Wayfarer12, on 06/18/2009, -0/+3three, four, shut the door...
- Wayfarer12, on 06/18/2009, -0/+3No, your mom sucks.
- supguy, on 06/18/2009, -0/+3are you sure they will "hire people who know more about computers than other people" ? That seems like a very logical business decision..... what a valuable insight you have into the industry, how DO you do it ?!
- braveryonions, on 06/18/2009, -0/+3Not your rear?
- inactive, on 06/18/2009, -4/+7please god make this motion tracking fad stop.
- MacParrot, on 06/18/2009, -0/+3Stop playing with your *****. People are talking
- MacParrot, on 06/18/2009, -0/+3OR you may not
- okcomputer1982, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2Honestly, I have to see the thing in motion. I can imagine headtracking mouse-pointers for one to be amazingly efficient.
- supermanred, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2Yeah, silly Apple with their personal computers. Who the hell would ever want to have a PERSONAL computer? That's just insane. /sarcasm
Apple patents ***** all the time, and tons of it, but they do eventually come out with some cool stuff. The rest of the industry benefits too, just look at all the cool windows and linux based PCs coming out now that are mimicking the Apple designs. - krisrm, on 06/18/2009, -2/+4"The best way to simultaneously give yourself a neck cramp and look retarded while writing a paper in the library!"
- inactive, on 06/18/2009, -1/+3I love that - "...may or may not". Kinda redundant, but amusing as to how many people use it so frequently.
"Apple may or may not add motion-tracking UI features into OS X"
"Apple may or may not merge with Microsoft to make Mac OSX Home through Ultimate"
"I may or may not make and eat a sandwich."
"I may or may not fly to the moon today." - markusfarkus, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2You sound like blog spam.
- MacParrot, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2Wyo, the fact that you're being dugg down to hell (along with equally annoying "Apple FOREVER!" diggers like 123) gives me hope that eventually Digg might become a place where people can talk about tech without worrying about comment hijackers with nothing to say beyond Apple/Microsoft/Linux sucks.
Grow up - bsonline, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2"I may or may not make and eat or eat not a sandwich or not sandwich which could or could not be toasted or not toasted."
I may talk like this for the rest of the day. - bennash, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1When is the future finally gonna get here? I can't wait for Natal style interaction with both my iMac and iPhone.
- Macintoshreader, on 06/18/2009, -1/+2http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkNxbyp6thM
- Misterberu, on 06/18/2009, -3/+4I never was too crazy about motion tracking... it seems like more like a gimmick than a revolution in the way we interact with computers. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad or anything... I just can't see myself flapping my arms in front of my computer (or Xbox; I'm looking at you Natal) just to interact with windows. I can, on the other hand, see my self disabling this feature for it performing actions I didn't want it to while doing things like scratching my ear or blinking my eyes more than once.
Please excuse my pessimistic attitude, but it really doesn't look like something that great. I'd rather have a touch screen instead... - Oinkie, on 06/18/2009, -3/+4why?
- MacParrot, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1Eventually the mouse and other physical means of working with your computer will be replaced with something better. It should be no surprise that both Apple and Microsoft are working at this.
- Misterberu, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1I will after I'm done using Windows 7.
- okcomputer1982, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1HA...why dude have to lick it to bookmark.
- supermanred, on 08/16/2009, -0/+1I agree, move hand 1/2 inch but if I can do a hand signal to my Mac from across the room and have it turn off the volume or change song, that would kick ass.
- Chunken, on 06/18/2009, -4/+5Obviously Microsoft saw Apple's patent and decided to copy it. Everything Microsoft has ever done has been a copy of Apple, no matter what order you think they happened in.
- maxvette, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1Rocky Road?
- bsonline, on 06/18/2009, -2/+3I've hoped since Natal's announcement that windows would do something like this. Most of the processing is done in the actual Natal unit, and Win7 has decent multitouch controls. Win win FTW.
Of course, I might want a larger monitor and a bit of distance between myself and the monitor. - supermanred, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1I just can't wait until Microsoft comes up with a better name than Natal (which as they pronounce it) means Christmas.
I hope it comes to reality quicker than their 20,000 dollar giant iphone coffee table did. - crickey23, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1123, you didn't know what a troll was until I gave you the link to Encyclopedia Dramatica...
- krisrm, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1...what?!
- KMartSheriff, on 06/18/2009, -2/+2I know it'll never actually come to fruition, but that is an awesome idea.
- Misterberu, on 06/18/2009, -3/+3...you guys are really cute. He's a troll... and a very obvious one... so shut the ***** up, bury him, and move on. Personally I find you guys more annoying than the very troll you're replying to.
- inactive, on 06/18/2009, -1/+1I guess Apple just turned Michael J. Fox into a pc user.
- deslock, on 06/18/2009, -2/+2Feeling defensive much?
Geesh, let it go man. Isn't it possible that Apple's ideas are also borrowed from other sources?
Unless Apple's patent is more than 10 years old I think that Minority Report has them beat. - NobodyWhoCares, on 06/18/2009, -0/+0HA thats an excellent point, and a potential major problem.. Fapping Mac users trashing their OS by sending random files off in every direction. A new product potential perhaps? "Anti Fap File Deletion Protector"?
- andrew77uk, on 06/18/2009, -0/+0I have noticed a few negative people here, for one I could see this being very useful, especially manipulating with 3d objects, or people that are paralyzed from the neck down.
