"do you know how fast you were going?"
"no, i couldn't see the speedometer, the zooming dock wouldn't go away" - xdeliriumx, on 11/16/2007, -7/+146this makes me want to cut a VW logo in my OTHER arm.
- xdeliriumx, on 11/16/2007, -5/+109i guess it's better than "no, i couldn't see the speedometer, Clippy was in the way".
"Oh, I see you were trying to speed? Would you like some help?" - Stegg, on 11/16/2007, -28/+129Apple + VW = Match Made in Heaven
- inactive, on 11/16/2007, -2/+57cover flow + driving doesn't sound very safe although its a cool concept
- Spamcan, on 11/16/2007, -3/+47It's about time auto manufacturers started taking advantage of all LCD interfaces in their cars, and if you watch the video you'll see it also runs entirely on plush bears!
- rudy23, on 11/16/2007, -7/+44volkswagon is a status symbol?
- rodzilla, on 11/16/2007, -1/+36Maybe if enough 08 buyers get together and complain Apple will give them 200.00 back
- earlycj5, on 11/16/2007, -5/+29It looks great, but touchscreen in a car? I don't see it being practical. Great technology showpiece but not practical for everyday use IMO.
There are enough distractions while driving, a touch screen pretty much requires you to be looking at what you're doing, there's no tactile feedback. I can reach down and turn the volume up or down, change the station, track number, etc. by feel on my car stereo now.
When I use my Cowon D2, which has a touch screen, I pretty much just put it on random and let it go. Too hard to find songs, make changes, etc. it's just a blank screen to the touch with "press here" buttons that have to see. - kjr07, on 11/16/2007, -33/+56Heaven is full of overpriced status symbols?
- JackondaRocks, on 11/16/2007, -7/+29Great... now iCar articles are going to be swarming digg.
- jd72277, on 11/16/2007, -1/+23can real hippies afford either?
- badenglishihave, on 11/16/2007, -5/+27Dugg comment for amusing reference to this article:
http://digg.com/apple/You_might_like_Apple_a_littl ... - RogerStrong, on 11/16/2007, -11/+31Apple?
Does this mean the car is totally locked down, so you have to buy your gas, air filters and oil changes from a single overpriced source? - noahhoward, on 11/16/2007, -5/+25Hmm... senseless Apple bashing over pure speculation with no evidence or investigation coupled with senseless bashing of VW. True to form, Digg, bravo.
Your devotion to idiocy and brand hatred is inspiring. I can only imagine what half of you are like at the grocery store: "***** Kellogs. Think they're so much better than Malt-O-Meal it's just the same crap with 'cool' tax added." What a joy it must be to behold. - rudy23, on 11/16/2007, -1/+20in store credit only
- infiniti029, on 11/16/2007, -13/+30Apple + VW = Ultimate Hippie Fest!
dig me down! - mrmacky, on 11/16/2007, -0/+17"-Use Windows Live (R) Maps to find the nearest police station"
"-Automatically bill ticket to account using Microsoft Money"
"-Turn AutoCorrect on" - postalblowfish7, on 11/16/2007, -4/+17volkswagons are cheep, that's why i bought one.
a corvette, porsche, or jaguar would be a good example of a status symbol. - docneuman, on 11/16/2007, -7/+20wish i would have waited 2 years to by my VW.
- turpenine, on 11/16/2007, -2/+14volkswagons are indeed low priced imports with good reliability.
- saturdaysaint, on 11/16/2007, -3/+15Nope - Apple + Prius would be the Ultimate Hippie Fest.
- MacParrot, on 11/16/2007, -1/+13All the real hippies gave up and became stock brokers
- nickerbocker, on 11/16/2007, -4/+16On release, Apple fanboys rush out and buy the new VW with this interface. Two months later VW and Apple announce a 30% price drop on the models feature this dashboard.
- Ninnux, on 11/16/2007, -0/+11Yeah, but small cars with small engines usually get fantastic gas mileage. We Americans need to retool our prejudices when it comes to small cars. Remember 1979?
- MacParrot, on 11/16/2007, -3/+14and if anyone would know about homosexuals, I'm sure it would be you joe
- saucercrab, on 11/16/2007, -2/+13ummm, either that article is misinformed or I've been lied to. I drive an 08 GTI and I was no touchscreen display was available for purchase. The dealership told me they won't be available until 09.
- bgramer1, on 11/16/2007, -4/+15Never mind VW - I want it in an Audi
- derder89, on 11/16/2007, -3/+14Each car comes with it's own black turtleneck!
- Th0rus, on 11/16/2007, -0/+10Didn't Microsoft just start something like this with ford?
- askjeffro, on 11/16/2007, -3/+13J.D. Power Dependability Ratings for 2007:

Hint: Look towards the bottom for VW. - mpeters13, on 11/16/2007, -4/+14Like fords don't have enough problems of their own.
- jenx, on 11/16/2007, -4/+14It's Volkswagen. Not Volkswagon. If you're going to try to ***** on something, at least get it's name right. VW's are hardly pretentious. Look at all the riced out Hondas that are around.. people trying to be 2 fast and 2 furious... ugh. Now that's pretentious. Hitler's "child" was the bug. The Jetta, GTI, Golf, Corrado, Scirocco, etc. were not. Keep up with the times.
- DelSolid, on 11/16/2007, -4/+13cool, now when I roll my car over my displays will flip with me!
- RogerStrong, on 11/16/2007, -3/+12Like a PC then, not Apple.
- luchid, on 11/16/2007, -1/+10Yes, because unless a car is HUGE to compensate for your lack of penis size and burns gas like it's going out of style it's not manly enough, right?
- FredFredrickson, on 11/16/2007, -4/+12Not very knowledgeable about Apple hardware, are you noahhoward?
- ninjadave, on 11/16/2007, -3/+11Wow, nice expensive dash in car that will have a number of engine and electrical issues within years of leasing/purchasing. Nice way to get some people to go for the car despite its horrible reliablity in the last several years.
- migitalwarfare, on 11/16/2007, -24/+32overpriced status symbols with poor electrical systems and carpet adhesive that smells like crayons
- NateTheApe21, on 11/16/2007, -5/+13I guess some cults work well together :)
- Amazetbm, on 11/16/2007, -1/+9Audi to VW is like Lincoln to Ford. My first car was a 1979 Audi 5000 S...but under the hood was a 5-cylinder (yeah 5) engine with big ass VW logo stamped into the valve cover.
- naturemade, on 11/16/2007, -1/+8Match made in marketing heaven is more appropriate.
- orxor, on 11/16/2007, -4/+11Don't worry with the VW reliability record you'll have another chance really soon.
- markiemarke, on 11/16/2007, -1/+8very well done
- GruntboyX, on 11/16/2007, -2/+9Its a car accident waiting to happen. I can operate my radio without looking currently. This is because i can feel the buttons on the radio and i have some sort of tactile feedback. A touch screen would drive me nutz....not to mention i can help but wonder how many people will be distracted from their driving.
- TheHayze, on 11/16/2007, -5/+11It's a German car. All German cars require tender loving care every other weekend. Americans need to start taking care of their cars, and not dumping them 3 years later when it starts to have problems.
- hydroplane, on 11/16/2007, -2/+8Don't worry your Jetta will break down completely within a year or two anyways.
- ZoomBoy, on 11/16/2007, -2/+8This man speaks the truth. I was a diehard dubber and recently bought a Honda because of VW's shoddy reliability.
- chukd, on 11/16/2007, -1/+7Don't make fun of my Malt-O-Meal! Kellogs Suck!
- PhantomBantam, on 11/16/2007, -1/+7The exhaust will be tofu.
