Apple confirms September 9 Special Event: Let's Rock

arstechnica.com — Apple has sent out invites to a Special Event taking place on September 9, which is exactly one week for today. The invite features the iconic iPod silouette along with the tagline "Let's Rock." It will be taking place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco—just down the street from the Moscone Center— at 10am next Tuesday.

  • Dylson, on 09/02/2008, -2/+21You know, every year since the iPod nano I have gotten really excited to see whats gonna come out. Now, for whatever reason, this year I am not excited. Apple is just going to release a revamped iTunes and go back to the tall and think iPod nano. The iPod touch will probably have a slight cosmetic change and a price drop but other than that theres nothing really. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if they discontinue the iPod classic.

    I love my Mac Mini but I've outgrown it, and I'm not ready to spend $3,000 for the Mac Pro. The iMac is basically a Mac Mini with a built in display, so that's out too.

    Not that they aren't capable of doing a better job now, but that money would be better spent giving developers an incentive to create their games with cross platform tools. Simultaneous releases rather than third party ports would do a lot more to improve the state of Mac gaming.

Seriously, there's upgrades, but unless there's a freaking 1TB Classic coming, I could care less about a nano redesign. The touch is awesome for other reasons (handheld computer), but I don't see it as my primary music listening device.
