Apple and Segway Merge! Well Kinda...
apple20.blogs.fortune.cnn.com — The news that Doug Field, Segway ’s chief technology officer, has left the company for Apple, is one of those high-level personnel changes one feels obliged to comment on.

- niradg, on 07/07/2008, -8/+3I'd rather see someone from Apple's marketing team leave to join Segway. They have a great invention that has nerd stigma, the way computers did before Apple revolutionized their marketing.
- dafragsta, on 07/08/2008, -0/+5They should've made commercials with Gob. Like the guy without the $6000 Power Wheels Scooter is gonna listen to that! COME ON!
- Pronoiac, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1A thousand diggs upon you and your family good sir!
- JettaMan, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1That's GOB not Gob.
- promovi, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2I thinks its G.O.B., short for George Oscar Bluth.
- TheUngod, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2A great invention? The only thing I know Segway makes is for lazy sacks of crap. Do they have some other cool thing I don't know about?
- tiuk, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBOT
Same inventor.

- Diggtatorship, on 07/08/2008, -1/+28No, not really... Not even "Kinda."
- rpgmaker, on 07/08/2008, -1/+1And now, suddenly, the segway is cool again!
- cam0man, on 07/08/2008, -2/+14I don't think a title could be less accurate....
- SkippyDoorknob, on 07/08/2008, -0/+8"Apple and Segway Join Forces to Disassemble the Moon"
that would be less accurate- RobotLeAwesome, on 07/08/2008, -0/+4"Jesus wearing a hat"
even less accurate - Baryn, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1BUGGABEAR

- zspitfire04, on 07/08/2008, -0/+5Horrible description, I had to click to try and understand whats going on...

So Steve Jobs yelled at someone, this happens a lot from what ex-apple people have said. Get over it.
He hired an employee............
- polish97, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1Good Call...who gives a S#!&.
- Tippx, on 07/08/2008, -1/+3will the iSegway have a user-replacable battery?
- LoudMusic, on 07/08/2008, -4/+2From the article, “I think it sucks!” said Jobs. “Its shape is not innovative, it’s not elegant, it doesn’t feel anthropomorphic.”
I have to disagree, Mr Jobs. It's shape is very elegant. It's simple. And THAT is the point of the Segway, and the point of your Macintosh computers. To appear simple to the user, while disguising massive complexity, and delivering fail-safe results. Much like the early iPods, it does one complex task very well and the user just enjoys the results.
If anything was added to or taken away from the Segway (other than about $3000 of initial cost ...) it would detract from its ability to produce quality results. - feanix, on 07/08/2008, -0/+3Gah! Attention grabbing title that's designed just to make a relatively boring piece of info seem interesting. You suck! Buried!
- ProdigalFather, on 07/08/2008, -0/+0I can't wait till Steve Jobs announces the newly dubbed 'iRoll' as one of our fellow diggers already predicted, and sells it through proprietary dealerships that make you sign multiple year contracts with the facade of unlimited mileage.
6 months later, the 2nd gen iRoll will be released in white, black and Product(RED). - digitallysick, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2I think the segway is amazing technology. Would i rush out and spend 3k on it? no. But when you think about the fact that you can stand it lean forward and back and it just doesn't fall over. Thats amazing , its a stepping stone to other technologies . We just need lightweight extreme segways to jump ramps and pull off tricks
- DiggityCarl, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1Sounds like Mr Jobs knows his *****! He could tell before it was even released it was a friggin' waste.
- nowknown, on 07/08/2008, -1/+0Doug Field sucks! He's not innovative, he’s not elegant, and he doesn’t feel anthropomorphic,
- buddhabelieves, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1So Fortune realizes how incredibly non news this is that they have to dig up some quotes from 7 years ago by The Steveness to sensationalize it.....Buried
