- Raian, on 10/12/2007, -1/+90.3MB + DRM
- walkingman1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I'm still holding out for Tempest myself... Would be natural for a scroll wheel, surely?
- qx4_man, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5If Steve is so convinced DRM shouldn't be used to protect music, why then does Apple use it to protect their games?
- ronfez, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I'd like to give a shout out to the developers on this. 9.9 MB !?!?
- nolajc2000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Is that Fozzy Bear or Pac Man?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i think a neat game for the ipod would be "oh shi- my brakes have been cut," the goal of the game is to survive as long as possible by steering your out of control car down-hill via the touch-wheely-thing
sure i'm kidding (well, no, i'm not) but i think what we all desire for the ipod are some good, original titles! Vortex rocks, but it's just circle breakout, pacman rocks, but it's still just pacman.
Why should i be paying 5 bucks for a game i've probably bought 4 times already in different namco collections, plug and plays, and played online hundreds of times for free - scifimax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Keep the ipod games coming!
wonder if they'll release a game pad to plug into the bottom for some mario bros. some day - trogdoor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This and many other classics have been available to the more technically inclined for a while now:

*hugs ipodLinux - Phoenixfury, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I found the key to playing Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man for that matter on the iPod is to scroll. Not to tap, but scroll in the direction I want to go. The only time my finger leaves the touch pad is when I want to head in the opposite direction. I found scrolling feels more natural than tapping does. As odd as this may sound, I feel that scroll wheel feels even closer to the actual arcade control than any control on any other gaming system ever has.
I think the problem is most people instinctively try to tap in all directions, but that simply does not work well. The game instructions are a little misleading in that they only tell you which directions your Pac-Man / Ms. Pac-Man can go, but there is no mention of scrolling. I feel scrolling is the key element to the games control that should have been mentioned in the instructions for both games. However who reads instructions anyway? LOL - JuliusErving, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Seriously, was this really worth submitting to digg?
- DelMonte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Because audio DRM is inherently easy to crack. The labels efforts in reducing music piracy with DRM are futile.
Audio is a non-interactive stream of linear data and there will be always ways to tap into the unencrypted stream, at worse its analog output. Even if the industry managed to make a totaly un-crackable audio DRM, you could always record the audio output of a player to make a copy. All it takes is a single copy in MP3 format, and it can be distributed all over the net and be playable on about just every player without a need to hack them also.
The day the iTunes Music Store was opened it was already possible to make a copy of a song and distribute it over p2p. Did anyone crack the iPod games DRM? Not to my knowledge.
If it happened, it would more than probably require you to hack the iPod firmware. The copied games would only play on a hacked iPod, just like copied GC, PS2 and XBox game only work on modded consoles. This in itself would reduce the amount of piracy for these games by a large amount, as the majority of people are not ready to install hacked firmwares. - StaplesGuy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Hopefully this will be like iPod PacMan minus the ***** controls.
- Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Now all we need is 7of7 chiming in to say that buying Ms Pac-Man for iPod is totally worthless. But buying it over Xbox Live Arcade or the Microsoft Arcade Pack is totally groovy.
- Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3@flag:
I'm sure you'd be praising them if it were Microsoft releasing it for the Zune. - trylleklovn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1So anyone has a link for a flash replica or a ROM for some device..? I feel like playing it now..
- runningIDIOT, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Namco invented pacman :)
- redheadguy719, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1i'm hoping apple notices Cyboid: http://www.bobbeetec.com/

- barkingfrog, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4and the greatest thing about it is that it only costs 50 bucks!
- hkid, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3I have the ROM on my Windows Mobile phone for free... you know, as a backup to my original disc...
- Pyoobs, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Wayne: OK. Now, Noah, I've always wanted to know... what is the difference between Pac-Man and Ms Pac-Man, really?
Noah: Well, she has a bow on her head.
Wayne: That's it? Get right out of town!
Noah: No, that's it.
Wayne: Thanks for being on Wayne's World. It was informative and stimulating. - xcspear, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Why can't they add a good game to the game section?
- DigitalMuse, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Anyone know what the controls are?
- CyberSteve, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1out of any game they could add..they pick the same game that they have already posted on iTunes and just change the gender? wtf?
- flag564, on 10/12/2007, -10/+6"Wow, apple just released a game. Let's all buy it and support apple!
I mean, it's ms pacman. It has only been remade tens of times, i'm sure apple did a great job!"
Silly, Apple INVENTED Pac-Man! - musntSurfatWork, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Asphinktersayswhat?
What?
exactly!
ahh those were the times....now the IMAMS and the CHRISTIANS want to end it all for mankind. - errorjustin, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4I was just gonna post something similar, staplesguy. Pac-Man was AWFUL on the iPod.
Apple's own game however, Vortex, was actually really great:

Edit: We also put together a list of the 10 oldschool games we most want to see on the iPod. Maybe Apple will listen if we yell loud enough ;) Give us Tempest and Galaga, dammit!
