- Stonedonkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+133I can't help but think about how many tech companies would kill for a story that's nothing more than a link to a teaser image : )
- neworbit99, on 10/12/2007, -15/+123If it smells it probably wont sell very well
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+110What does little league baseball have to do with it?!
- howlongtoretire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+97The graphic, sure. But the MESSAGE is huge. You don't say something that bold unless you are going to put up the goods.
- degenerategoat, on 10/12/2007, -3/+87Why did I just do a girly squeal then?
30th Anniversary Mac?
10.5?
Who cares, I'm still as excited as a 13 year old who gets to second base! - catullus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+73mac books?

- superal1394, on 10/12/2007, -6/+41Mac OS 10.5 will have a completely new GUI, case redesign across the board, 16X9 or 16X10 iPod, a midrange tower between mac mini and mac pro, this will be the first to have the new design scheme. There will not be an iPhone
I am calling it
If I am right, I wants a cookie - Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -4/+38Yeah but they're not the only ones...
just before Microsoft brings out its new OS this month they are planning this teaser image for their homepage; http://www.texaslonghorn.net/longhorn_info/steer/1837_29.jpg
It will easily hit the digg homepage too! - heyitsme23, on 10/12/2007, -3/+34o great that doesnt help with my inner fanboyism
- ih8apple, on 10/12/2007, -3/+33You are wrong on every point you just made.
1. Their computers, if compared to comparably equipped PCs, are about the same price, if not cheaper.
2. Have you heard of boot camp, their computers DO run windows natively, boot camp only simplifies the process
3. Their computers are available to EVERYONE at apples website. The also have the apple retail stores, and now
Best Buy AND Circuit City sell apple products.
Just some thoughts.
And BTW, my username refers to the fruit, not the product/brand - megagram, on 10/12/2007, -6/+31It reminds me not of a spotlight being shone on the Apple but more of the Sun's rays hitting it as though it were some planet in space.
The new Spacepod, perhaps? The MacSpaceship? Ooooooooooh boy I'm excited! Can't wait to get my pre-order in! - belden, on 10/12/2007, -5/+30After looking at the graphic it's entirely possible it's a big tease for a new product, but I think it's much more likely to just be a holiday / anniversary message with some ego behind it. They are just saying, it's a new year, we're celebrating 30 years this year, and we are just getting started. There doesn't have to be some huge secret behind it, although that would be nice.
- cjmal, on 10/12/2007, -4/+24Or maybe they're just wishing us a happy new year.
- kingfoot, on 10/12/2007, -22/+41no sorry, that was me. *wafts air in front of thediggman*
- milkmage, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21...get in touch with your inner fanboy. this is 2007.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19You'd be a moron to buy a new Mac in August or December
- milkmage, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19@MaXPL -
People use Windows because they have to. People use Macs because they want to. - try to understand the difference
Sucky and expensive? (*rolls eyes*) find me another company that's been able to stand up to MS for 30 years. Thanks for playing.. our departing contestants will recieve a Zune and a copy of Vista.. when it's ready. - phpfreak, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20Not once in the two years I've owned a Mac have I faced the dilemma of being incompatible with software I actually needed.
- Olle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18Digg users love excitement and Apple happen to be very good at making things exciting.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16This can only make using personal computers better for everyone. Microsoft needs a worthy competitor to keep them on their game. Apple has always been that, they've just not been good at capitalizing on it. Apple has been on a roll lately, I welcome what it will do for all involved.
- aOenEz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17When are people going to stop bitching about the price of Apple's computers? You just think they're overpriced because they're high-end equipment. Try configuring a Dell with a Macbook Pro's specs and you'll see that the Dell costs over a thousand dollars more than the MBP. And yes, Apple does have some really expensive equipment, but what's the difference between that and buying a Falcon Northwest or an Alienware?
If you want a cheap Apple, buy a Mac Mini or a Macbook. Both of them are very reasonably priced. Hell, even iMacs are very cheap nowadays. Price isn't an issue anymore, unless you're Joe Normal looking for a $300 PC that comes with a monitor, keyboard, and speakers. - rjpowell, on 10/12/2007, -5/+20it's amazing what makes the front page! Digg users love Apple!
- bigredgpk, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17Good god... how does apple do it? I saw that page and was grinning from ear to ear. God this is going to be a great year!
- bdude, on 10/12/2007, -9/+23Maybe it's just a new years message? You must admit - apple users really do read a lot into things
Maybe this could be the end of the Jobs Dynasty? - muaddib420, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14that just went up at my wallpaper for the next week
- NoOneButMe, on 10/12/2007, -6/+19Welcome to the Cult of Mac
- euarchonta, on 11/13/2007, -6/+19Whatever it is, I'm absolutely positive that I won't be able to afford it until it's become obsolete in less than a year.
- PathDaemon, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16You can get a free pass from OWC... what I want is a hawt seat in the keynote. A friend of mine once got in by being nice to the security dude, but he had to stand in the back. I'm def. doing this some day.
Either way, this is the most hype-tastic graphic ever. If Apple lives up to it, there's going to be drool flying like er... another liquid right now at eroshare. If not, fanboys like myself will hang their heads in shame as the flaming begins. - drlha, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Everything you just said except the mid range tower isn't going to happen. The only people who want it are people who use its non-existance as an excuse to not buy a Mac.

Enjoy! - lunarworks, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14drlha: "Everything you just said except the mid range tower isn't going to happen. The only people who want it are people who use its non-existance as an excuse to not buy a Mac."
It's not a valid excuse? Let's see...
Mac Pro: Way too much money, more power than I need. (Two dual-core Xeons? A signle Core 2 Duo will do fine.)
iMac: Reasonably priced, good power level... but I really don't want an all-in-one machine.
Mac mini: Very reasonably priced, alright power, but you can't effectively tinker with it. I LIKE swapping stuff like drives, video cards, etc through the lifespan of my machine.
I WANT a Mac, but there is no Mac that fits my needs, and I'm quite sure there's a hell of a lot of enthusiasts and power users just like me out there. I still can't understand why Jobs ignores this sizable market. (There IS a midway between "home" and "high end"...) - Annon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I'd love to have the image sans text at 1920x1200 for a background!
- xxrazor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10yeah wouldn't that be ironic...everybody's getting hyped up about MacWorld 2007 AND there's this ominous announcement AND it just turns out to be a happy new year wish thing AND THEN steve jobs announces this to everybody at keynote and everyone get's pissed off
now that would make digg's front page - rda52, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13its Christmas all over again!!! :D
is this a preview of a new dark interface? new ipod, iphone, or something else?

STARE INTO THE APPLE, DAMNIT! - omaryak, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9obsolete != non-functioning
- runningIDIOT, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9no ... please bring Motorola 68000 back!!!! nobody will expect that!!!
- QueenOfSwords, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Is Woz interested though? He's quite happy doing his own thing, and I don't think he's actually buyable.
- GeogJIM, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10yes unplug that annoying ethernet cord and fire up the ole MS Paint.
