- thelastcivilian, on 06/06/2009, -3/+207Is there anything this guy can't hack?
- MacParrot, on 06/06/2009, -8/+112Shrug. Apple may not like it, but I don't many other people (even Mac owners) will care. Sounds like he made a program (for free which makes it better) that filled a need.
- newobj, on 06/06/2009, -9/+63Digg Pwned, Now Displaying doubleStories that already appeared 24 hours ago.
- seattle98104, on 06/06/2009, -14/+65Wow, leasing public space to put up an ad = pwnd? Surely you jest.
- shazbotben, on 06/06/2009, -5/+52I wouldn't consider it proper pwnage until it starts killing business. Until then it's just clever.
- Innuendo24, on 06/06/2009, -5/+48You don't read much do you? The article said it's for windows.
- Krissam, on 06/06/2009, -4/+45Girls Underwear.
Nah kidding, he can probably get laid having made that program :) - WestEast, on 06/06/2009, -17/+46So they managed to put an Ad beside an Apple store, well as clever as that may be its hardly a "pwned" is it.
And for what its worth I have Double twist on my Mac for my LG Viewrty, its an amazing app for putting vids and conversion for my phone.
But this article is just abit of exaggeration TBH. - macfan93, on 06/06/2009, -3/+30for the love of god, stop digging techcrunch articles!
- redrabbit, on 06/06/2009, -2/+27The software isn't about pirating DRM. It's perfectly legal software.
- inactive, on 06/06/2009, -13/+35is it available for windows? because alot of people dont care for itunes.
- DerryQuinn, on 08/17/2009, -0/+22I agree that it's an exaggeration, but at the same time, it's ON an Apple building, right below a huge Apple logo, and it looks like Apple is advertising the software...
- roostersheep, on 06/06/2009, -1/+22Yes, but it is the internet.
- scarwars, on 06/06/2009, -2/+21More pictures from DVD Jon's Flickr site:

- hongkongjapie, on 06/06/2009, -3/+18Did anyone else notice the VLC icon in the bottom left corner? Double pwned!
- timusca, on 06/06/2009, -0/+14I don't see why Apple would care, honestly... it's still a program that runs the iPod and iPhone. It's not like this is the only program for every other phone and suddenly iPhone sales will go down. If anything, it gives people more choice and will help Apple. At least it seems that way to me.
- phoomp, on 06/06/2009, -5/+19Leasing public space on the wall of the company whose DRM you're stripping = pwnd
- ghatid, on 06/06/2009, -6/+18@gamepr0 sure sure...I'll admit there are some Mac users who know what they're doing, but the majority of them are just following trends/like how they look.
- WonderBoy55, on 06/06/2009, -1/+12You accidentally the 'think'.
- Meocross, on 06/06/2009, -0/+10Question: Is DoubleTwist A memory Hog?
- jason221, on 06/06/2009, -0/+10You don't many other people will care?
I don't either. - KrayzieKyd, on 06/06/2009, -3/+12because most women get hot for programmers?
- inactive, on 06/06/2009, -0/+9This isnt just an anti-apple ad right beside an apple store, as the guy above me said it is ON the store. And not like the back of the store, right next to the front entrance. not only that its on a WINDOW to the store. that is pwned
- arthursk, on 06/06/2009, -19/+27Horrible ad, buried for use of pwned. this isn't counter-strike.
- roxgod666, on 06/06/2009, -9/+17Dugg for negativity towards the Apple store.
- phoomp, on 06/06/2009, -1/+8I don't get what you don't think other people will care about. The idea is to let regular people know about his product. This seems like the ideal location to do so.
- bobbknight, on 06/06/2009, -1/+7Why would anyone want to pirate DRM?
- RezzedOut, on 06/06/2009, -3/+9I just got a Blackberry Curve and the VerizonWireless guy told me it could play all my iTunes on it, but he didn't elaborate. I figured there was someone out there doing this. This is awesome!
- psicolonia, on 06/06/2009, -2/+8your mom
- antitab, on 06/06/2009, -1/+7This app (specificially, the TranscodeTool utility bundled with the Mac version) violates the GPL by not including a copy of the license nor an offer for source. I have requested the source at their contact form on doubletwist.com, we'll see if they respond.
Violations I've noticed so far are linking to swscaler and x264, both GPL licensed. It uses a lot of FFMPEG libraries, but that is alright since they are LGPL and may be linked to by proprietary software.
http://pastebin.com/f25287ee - icecoldtrashcan, on 06/06/2009, -0/+6It wasn't ad space before.
- consonance, on 06/06/2009, -0/+6After the advertising period ends Apple is going to pay BART huge sums of money for a new "permanent" advertising space.
- d1a1s1, on 06/06/2009, -2/+7Wait, what??
- Krissam, on 06/07/2009, -1/+6No, because he can probably get laid showing a girl how to sync her itunes libary with her phone.
- chroko, on 06/06/2009, -0/+5I want to know that as well.
Presumably Apple made it happen - but what I really want to know is why they have the *ability* to destroy other people's advertising - when it is entirely legitimate, paid advertising.
Apple would surely object to me walking up to their store and stealing their promotional materials - so why do they get to arbitrarily decide this?
The only real regrets I have about switching to Mac - is having to do business with Apple. - MicrosoftBob, on 06/06/2009, -3/+8That would be huge. Imagine a big fat Zune ad right there.
- TWallaceWD, on 06/06/2009, -0/+5You can import your iTunes playlists to your Blackberry, maybe that's what he was talking about. You definitely don't need doubleTwist to do it. You can also just open an explorer window and drag and drop songs to your Blackberry, and from your Blackberry to any computer. As far as I know, iPods and iPhones still don't let you do that second part, which is idiotic. I have a 30gb iPod and a Blackberry Curve. Since I got the Curve, I've stopped using my iPod entirely.
- franklymister, on 06/06/2009, -2/+7Looks like Apple will be buying that ad space for the next forever or so. I can't imagine his lease on that billboard is too long, but if Apple doesn't take it over, expect Palm Pre or Microsoft Zune ads next.
- Seanathan, on 06/06/2009, -1/+6Sounds like iTunes.
- billjimbob, on 06/06/2009, -4/+9PWNED
- splosion, on 06/07/2009, -0/+4The Laughing Man
- Stumpie2012, on 06/06/2009, -6/+10That's some balls right there.
- GeyserShitdick, on 06/07/2009, -0/+4The human heart.
- inactive, on 06/06/2009, -0/+4It uses more or less the same ram as itunes. The processor gets used a little more but overall, its better and more responsive than itunes.
- huntermcwhite, on 06/06/2009, -1/+5epic troll
- BlueStarr, on 06/07/2009, -0/+3I need to RTFA next time. A not be as lazy when I post.
- Psichomofo, on 06/06/2009, -0/+3To all my fellow diggers:
Its not fake
it does what it says
Im an apple lover
This is actually in line with what most apple converts and users want, something simple and easy to use.
I hope this app gets more press and support from digg and apple. - inactive, on 06/07/2009, -1/+4That did not make any sense to me.
- AdmiralKarelia, on 06/07/2009, -0/+3But a big majority more are people that are sick of PCs. Not saying a damned thing about PCs here, just that some people's opinions of them drive said people toward Macs.
