- actn, on 10/12/2007, -46/+357Hopefully they wont require a two-year service agreement.
- ikaum001, on 10/12/2007, -19/+155@yesno
Yes that was the joke. - thehigherlife, on 10/12/2007, -1/+64i agree. thinksecret and macrumors are far more reliable than this blog i've never heard of before that started 2 days before macworld 2007
- deanlowe, on 10/12/2007, -11/+74Will it have over 200 patents?
- colorsanto, on 10/12/2007, -13/+61cool.... its going to be a good year for apple
- punkrockxtian, on 10/12/2007, -4/+49EVERY year is a good yea for Apple. Well, since the iPod at least.
- infimprob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+44Who changes case while they sleep, honestly!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+41"widescreen non-iPhone iPod"
That's what I'm waiting for. I almost bought myself an 80 gig iPod last week...but with the widescreen and touchscreen ability of the iPhone...I thought to wait because I'll bet the next iPod that comes out will have the same touchscreen and be 100 or 120 gigs. I'll buy THAT one. - kayla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+40Not only is Feb 20 my birthday, it's also Fat Tuesday, Pancake Day (!!!), and now Apple's Special Event Day.
It is a day to remember forever.
This won't happen again for a long time, folks. - autoy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+43Let's file this in the Apple Rumors section: "We have just gotten an anonymous tip from a source that indicates that..."
- TBzar, on 10/12/2007, -12/+50@simpleid you are being dugg down not because you are saying crap about apple but because you are just trying to cause trouble
- NetworkShadow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+37I would also question the validity of this site and it's sources.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+28@wargod18
"Its not like iPhone is innovative or anything, It's a cell phone with OSX and a touch screen"
So you have a phone with OS X and a touch screen? - asdfer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25I'd consider this spamblog.
I've seen some DIGG attempt from this site, and all the articles are completely made up. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+28I say they will have revamped Macs for the Pro line, as well as a new Xserve and perhaps widescreen non-iPhone iPod
- joshuakuhn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Or maybe he meant sixth generation?
- PathDaemon, on 10/12/2007, -8/+25Yeah, and the Zune is just an MP3 player.
In other words, you're not a digger. - fitzfan, on 10/12/2007, -5/+22@wargod
You dont like Apple anymore because they didnt release a full screen ipod with over 8gbs at Macworld? Its not like they have them all sitting around in a warehouse, but decided they should wait. It takes time to research, develop, and manufacture a product. And you know if they made it more than 8GB of flash memory it would be more expensive and people would complain more, or if they had a HDD people would complain that it is big and slow. - griz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19If Apple stories get dugg to the top, then there is a good reason for it. A lot of people like Apple stories.
Block the Apple section if you don't want to hear about it. - PAlacrosse, on 10/12/2007, -16/+31You can learn of the new announcements....after a $2 charge...
- geminitojanus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14The Mac Pros are just as upgradable as any other OEM PC out there on the market. Take your FUD elsewhere.
- cruffenach, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I think this is totally legit. Steve at the beginning of the keynote said that there would be lots of Mac announcements coming up since all of Mac World was taken up by the iPhone, and they had an event on around the same day last year.
1. iWork/iLife 07 - Leopard Only
2. Leopard Special Features
3. 8 - Core Mac Pro
4. Updated Cinema Displays
5. Core Duo 2 Mac Mini
6. Special Hardware (Table, 12 in Lap Top, Full Screen iPod)
Those are the only topics that could be covered at it. My Guess is 1, 2, 3, 5 but we'll see. I don't know why everyone is dogin. Long story short now is that Apple is offering great computers on a great OS with great portable periferals and the run Windows. Jesus what do they have to do to get people to stop complaining? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11@ bshellenberg
apparently, you cared enough to comment. - vashmyvindows, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I recommend checking http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/ before you make a purchase from Apple. Use your discretion and calculate the likelihood of a product update coming soon, it'll save you a little bit of stress.
- joemc72, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8The Macbooks, however do not come with a mouse. They do, however come with that nifty two finger tap which is the same as a right click. I've had my Macbook Pro since November, and now I find myself two-finger tapping on my Dell at work, wondering. "WTF?"
- danglerman, on 10/12/2007, -16/+24I would believe this, but I think Apple is going to let Macworld sink in for a bit longer. And, wouldn't that be neat if they released Leopard the day of the Keynote? I think that would be more appropriate.
- uownedge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7So there's nothing that you ever look forward to or get excited about then? Or if there is, does that mean you're a rabid fanboy of whatever that may be?
or do you never have any interest in anything?
Maybe you're one of those "neutral" guys.
It's a beige alert, sir. - MacGyver, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9It'd be nice if they announced a real widescreen ipod that can hold more than 4/8gb
- uownedge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Depends on what kind of Mac you get. The Pros are extremely upgradeable. That's part of the point of getting one (short of the fact that it's the most powerful pre-built home computer you can buy right now).
That's also the beauty of Macs...they last a long time. Why do you think G3, G4, and G5 systems are still supported? Lots of Mac users still use those older systems. Sure, the latest OS X doesn't run as fast as it would on a brand new Core 2 system, but if you expect it to, you're just being silly. Personally, I still have a Blue and White G3 tower at home acting as my personal file server. It runs 10.4, and I've had no issues with it since I set it up.
Even those with G5 systems really need not worry. New versions of apps are labeled as "universal" for a reason -- they work on both PPC and Intel architectures. - uownedge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Do we really need to bring monkeys into this?
- jman8888, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I hope they update the macs. Because i want a macbook but it could use a Ati Card in it (Dont say they cant because they used to..)
- myfanwy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7@griz
i think he's commenting more on the endless, baseless rumours, and reporting on pointless fluff. remember the 'apple iphone' pics we used to see every day? there are relevant/well-sourced apple stories, but a hell of a lot of garbage. this would be cut down if people considered the validity of the source before blindly posting every story that has the words apple and i[something-or-other] in it - bertram, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8so user {applerecon} posts an unsubstantiated rumor from a website named....wait for it..."applerecon.com"
if this isn't spam, nothing is. - chaskell, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Every new Apple event gets me excited that a new Widescreen Ipod is coming.
Really, I just want an IPhone - the phone part + 60gigs of space. They have all the parts....just put it together already. - KyleMistry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Maybe they snore?
- moofer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Did your purchase suddenly become less-functional and stop doing what you bought it for? Is Apple supposed to stop revving products as soon as you buy one? It may suck for you, but it doesn't suck for the company, their customers, the marketplace or their shareholders.
- Cink420, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I got until April to save up for a mac book pro then...assuming this is accurate, and I'm very skeptical about that...
- lateralus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6People typically get hammered in public.
- griz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Are people really that torqued about the $1.99
802.11n update that they can't find the humor in this?
Besides, who is really going to pay for the patch once it hits the net. - Morky, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10The funniest part is a LOT of us would pay that or more to watch Apple special announcements live. The Koolaid is delicious.
- thehigherlife, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6if it is within 14 days you'd get a free upgrade. a new copy of tiger was like 72 bucks or something like that. you get some software upgrade coupons in your manual too. they offer discounts if you have those still.
- geminitojanus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I want it with rainbows and puppies and kittens too.
Seriously. No phone company would ever allow a phone to have VOIP unless it was locked to their own WiFi networks (sad but true), removing the "phone part" from the iPhone makes it well.. the i (aka the phone is an integral part of the system as engineered; it would take even more engineering to back out, remove the phone component, and remove all the bindings for the phone software from the interface). Hard Drive media players are going the way-side to Flash because of density (Flash is catching up quick, it's already surpassed the HDs the iPod started with) and because of moving parts that can fail and require the device to be serviced (something Apple doesn't like to do with _anything_).
The iPhone is the quintessential Apple device. It does more than all its competitors, it's put together nicely, and it has a few drawbacks which instantly polarized the community (either you love it or you hate it). Want to use it just as an iPod? Wait for it to hit eBay (especially all of the ones with broken phone-related parts). Want to use it for VOIP? Get one and start hacking. iPod Linux didn't take that long, I wouldn't be surprised if iPhone Linux wouldn't be even easier. - Aleks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5*Gets his wallet ready*
$399 for 6g iPod
$149 for leopard
$99 for iLife 07 - VeganBob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4You mean CS3.
- jimmyblake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I don't think the source can be that reliable if it confirmed a release date of March for Leopard.
I can't say to much because I develop for the Macintosh platform so my evaluation of the beta test of Leopard is covered by an NDA, so I can make no comment on the OS itself and how ready it is.
I'm running the 9A343 release that came out only a few days ago and I would put my money on it not being a March release.
Apple are making massive strides in the development of Leopard, but this is too an aggressive turn-around even for Jobs to pull off. - rasice, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@uownedge
Not everyone wants an all-in-one like the Imac. People like using their own monitors and you goto remember although it is a desktop it is still using notebook processors.
People say it will cannibalize Mac Pro sales, which is likely but I think you will see a lot of switchers which should more than make up for that. - uownedge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The iMac seems to fit all of those features. :) You can get them with an x1600 (128MB or 256MB) or a GeForce 7300. While they aren't the "best of the best" cards, they perform fairly well for average games. Unfortunately, if you really want the best option possible for games, the Mac Pro is the one, but the iMac really isn't a bad choice. The Core 2 CPU gives a nice boost as far as overall performance is concerned, even when it comes to games. The price isn't bad either. Check 'em out.
I'd also recommend taking a trip to a local Apple store so you can check 'em out in person. Before I used one, I didn't expect to be anywhere near as impressed as I was when I actually sat down at one and used it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Theres gonna be a special event next year as well.
- mysticmcj, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5All macs sold lately come with the mighty mouse, which is more than right click enabled.
That joke has been dead for a long time now... - Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -8/+12I am looking forward to Leopard, but I hope to God if this event is true we'll see some iPhone Junior action too. All I want is a music playin' cellphone that looks cool, and is easy to use... Apple please deliver it! I'd even pay €299.
