- WiZZLa, on 07/10/2008, -6/+27Will the Windows release force Safari & QuickTime on me too?
- transversed, on 07/10/2008, -6/+23i woke up early for this crap?! where's my new firmware? and whats the deal with mobile me not being up and running. they had a press release for craps sake.
- andrewcod, on 07/10/2008, -1/+18Btw, you can actually see that app now on the store if you do a search for "remote". You can find other apps this way too, so long as you know what to search for. (eg. a search for AIM will bring up AOL's free AIM messenger program) http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/ ...
- baramunchies, on 07/10/2008, -0/+16diversity, speed, many factors beside the pure count of diggs.
- Rudegar, on 07/10/2008, -1/+15i think quicktime in a form or another is always required itunes use it to play movies and such even if it's embedded in itunes it's still quicktime com objects which does the work
- SirG3, on 07/10/2008, -0/+14This is a common misconception: iTunes doesn't use Safari (or WebKit) to render the iTunes store.
- r3zonance, on 07/10/2008, -1/+14Cos a lot of people, OTHER THAN YOU, care.
- TheHogester, on 07/10/2008, -0/+137.6.2 was always fine for me. What problems did you have?
- jcronkhite, on 07/10/2008, -0/+13App Store is up! Had to click on Applications, then Get more applications! Have at it!
- rockstar1o9, on 07/10/2008, -1/+14have any guinea pigs *ahem*, I mean have any brave souls hooked up their jailbroken iphone or touch to this new version?? wanna report back what happens??
- r3zonance, on 07/10/2008, -0/+11It'll certainly force Quicktime on you, as you can't play a lot of iTunes content without it.
- nebkiwi, on 07/10/2008, -1/+11because it enables 2.0 firmware ;)
- Asphyxia8489, on 07/10/2008, -0/+10JORDAN! Being out of the box is a privilege, not a right. Dont spoil your time out by trolling!
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -0/+10Adware?
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -2/+12iTunes is excellent IMO. It's a great way to organize my music. Maybe the Windows version is garbage, I don't know.
- scarycomp, on 07/10/2008, -0/+9Contact syncing with Google Contacts is now an option, but there is no option to sync with Google Calendar...
- dullnation, on 07/10/2008, -1/+10It's seriously about time they release a new optimised version that isn't such a memory hog. Maybe when 10.6 comes out with them already looking to cut the fat in core applications.
- thashiz, on 07/10/2008, -0/+8Nothing. As of this post, there's no firmware upgrade for the Touch.
- andrewcod, on 07/10/2008, -0/+7You get the Applications item in the sidebar if you've previously purchased iPod games. Alternatively, you can enable it in the general tab of preferences. Obviously, the links to more applications and updates are broken right now, though.
- baramunchies, on 07/10/2008, -0/+7here are two screenshot of new app section in itunes store

http://skitch.com/baramunchies/xtc6/itunes - andrewcod, on 07/10/2008, -3/+10Well, that confirms the rumour of the remote app coming. Cool. I was really hoping for that for use with AirTunes. Much better than having to go back to the computer when you're in the living room where your speakers are.
- jcronkhite, on 07/10/2008, -0/+7Let Apple roll this out responsibly. I'm sure they intend to release in phases so they can monitor the progress and ensure things are going as smoothly as possible. This is going to be huge, and they know it. What are we looking at, one more day at worst? Patients my friends!
- MacParrot, on 07/10/2008, -0/+7buried for trollishness. Don' t you have wings to pull off flies or small helpless defenseless animals to torture?
- RetepNamenots, on 07/10/2008, -0/+6My favourite update? They've finally added surround sound support for Windows!
- Zippo, on 07/10/2008, -0/+6Yeah... never had a hitch with any of the last few releases of iTunes.
- norbiu, on 07/10/2008, -0/+6Here: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/ ...
- r3zonance, on 07/10/2008, -0/+5Limit the rush of downloads perhaps.
- Pzycho, on 07/10/2008, -0/+5Why would anyone digg you down? That link is the key to the kingdom (also known as the app store).
- RyomaNagare, on 07/10/2008, -0/+5This Itunes also add support for newer countries, here in Chile we didn't have support for the longest time.
Right now the app store is working fine, I don't see any music store though, guess they can't blame me for pirating then. - ColinZeal, on 07/10/2008, -0/+5I installed the driver for iPhone 3G extracted from the 64bit package.
Here´s how you install iTunes 7.6 on xp64:
http://yukichigai.googlepages.com/iphonex64
Works, but I couldn´t install iTunes 7.7 as I got a "error code 2229".
Waiting for an answer from the guy behind that site. Hopefully he can resolve the prob. - andrewcod, on 07/10/2008, -2/+6About 10 mins after 6pm, they changed the message to saying the transition would occur between 8pm and 2am (originally, it would take from 6pm until 12am). So, it should come up anytime now.
- kenvsryu, on 07/10/2008, -1/+5Those who are ill, are my friends.
- Protoss, on 07/10/2008, -2/+6Uhm, iTunes is pretty fast on my Macbook running Leopard. Now iTunes on Windows is another story, it can get sluggish at times.
- whatmew0rry, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4Preferences -> General -> Show Applications
then
Get More Applications - dupontflames, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4I have to say, some of these apps seem pretty cool. We'll see how it all works come tomorrow. I'm kind of excited!
- ColinZeal, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4With 8GB of internal ram i´m not even gonna think about XP-32.. and Vista.. uh. No. Hopefully i´m not gonna be forced to run it at all.
- sockpuppets, on 07/10/2008, -3/+7I installed this and now I have an overwhelming feeling to wear black turtlenecks, is that normal?
- nicc, on 07/10/2008, -0/+3Mac or Windows?
no issues with any iTunes for me on any of my Macs... - Enderplayer1, on 07/10/2008, -1/+4buried for burying apple
- Pandalume, on 07/10/2008, -0/+3I'm running 16GB (3d workstation) and I would rather not have to load a separate OS just to synch my phone. Thanks for the info ColinZeal!
- eihwaz, on 07/10/2008, -4/+7QuickTime for sure, since iTunes uses it as the engine to play everything (music and videos).
Safari... maybe. iTunes uses Safari to render the iTunes Store, so they "could" have the need to have it installed too, but I don't know yet. - jcronkhite, on 07/10/2008, -0/+3Man, that's crazy you can't find it at http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
- cruzer2727, on 07/10/2008, -2/+5itunes loads much faster. Nice update.
- jcronkhite, on 07/10/2008, -0/+3Search for an application from the iTunes store works as well. They just haven't hooked up a homepage link yet I guess. Do a search on twitterrific and you'll see what I mean.
- potterboy, on 07/10/2008, -2/+5Dude, either install XP-32 or upgrade to Vista 64 (Which is much better than XP 64)
- amermoose, on 07/10/2008, -0/+3none of my itunes music or playlists are showing up!
- Stea1th, on 07/10/2008, -0/+3yummmmmy native apps...
- energyblue, on 07/10/2008, -0/+3http://digg.com/settings/topics [untick] apple
Happy? - dullnation, on 07/10/2008, -1/+4It runs fast on my install of Windows, that doesn't mean I want 500mb of ram used when I use coverflow...
- flowctrl, on 07/10/2008, -0/+2Any implications for jailbroken iphones? The new iTunes won't eat my phone?
