- flipmeat, on 10/10/2007, -4/+42The party doesn't really start until Leopard ships, I am guessing.
- anonym41414, on 10/10/2007, -3/+29You're not going to see Flash on the iPhone until Adobe figures out how to make it far, far less CPU-hungry.
- jonfelder, on 10/10/2007, -3/+27No, the worst case is it introduces a serious security flaw or a serious bug that makes your phone less stable. There's some wisdom to not upgrading it right away if you feel your phone is working fine.
- Roger, on 10/10/2007, -1/+25Complaining is more likely to solve something than not complaining.
- dlute99, on 10/10/2007, -6/+27My iPhone seems to be several millimeters wider, and my thumbs feel great! Thanks, Apple!
- nicroma, on 10/10/2007, -2/+20With the news about the upcoming flash update supporting H.264, hopefully we will see some iPhone support soon.
- DiggedyDoo, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19Man I can't wait until the REAL update. It's going to be like getting a whole new iPhone.
- kajoob, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19Yes. I suggest you filter out the 'Apple' category if it bothers you. Just go to your profile page, then "manage topics", then uncheck "Apple".

^^^ Updated Install Script for 1.0.2 - This is for Installer.app - JoeBaynham, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16Let the patch bitching begin... :D
- sio2man, on 10/10/2007, -12/+25Still no Flash,,, :-(
- blkpoetx, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14Things I've notice after i updated
Safari is much faster... and switching between webpages is smoother.. (when you have multiple pages open)
The Camera also appears to have image stabilations or something.. it's smoother as well.
who knows what other hidden updates where added.... remember the webgallery update?
i'm sure a new version of itunes is on it's way.
*** this update did mess up my installer.app hack..... that sucks.. i'm gonna just wait for new updates instead of installing the hacks.. too much headache. - superkendall, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13What do you mean by "Brick", because you can always restore an iPhone from scratch. Traditionally "Bricking" means the device will not even turn on, which is not the case if it simply tosses away some thing you have installed yourself. Heck, in that case you don't even have to restore, you just lose the extra apps you added (and can then re-add them after the patch and after the patch to the third party app loader, as per above)
- deadbaby, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14Why did you buy a product that didn't offer the features you needed? Seems pretty dumb to me.
- toetagger, on 10/10/2007, -9/+181.0.2 prevents blending. Okay digg me down *****!
- mobilehavoc, on 10/10/2007, -11/+19So far nothing major but Safari seems snappier and my Yahoo Push is working great. Also why do people question these things? Worst case it makes your phone more stable and addresses bugs, just ***** download it and install it!
- techgb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8A little clarification, brick means the device is unrecoverable. It's a brick. This is not a condition that is recoverable.
If you can restore it, your phone has not been bricked.

Folks at Gizmodo have confirmed that iFuntastic 2.5 works fine on the new 1.0.2 firmware.
and:
Engadget is confirming that Jailbreak still works on the new firmware.
though:
Engadget guys have faced issues with their hacked iPhone. Here is what they had to say:
"We take it back about our backup working properly. Despite the fact that we had a couple of error messages during the upgrade which seemed innocuous, this iPhone update wiped out our device and refused to restore a backup, instead creating a new backup based on a fresh restore. In other words: we just lost everything on our friggin device and the automatic backup is gone." - Mephux, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11**Update**
3rd party apps, custom ring-tones, well custom anything. You Will Have To Restore! - pkulak, on 10/10/2007, -4/+12*****, there go my ringtones again.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7I do. But I went to college.
- FunkyWitDaSysTm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7yeah, well, unfortunately, the world is short on decent web designers who care enough to do this-- or even know how...
but yeah. when this happens, hooray! - Terc, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Nope, not when you enclude a hardware decoder like the iPhone has.
- superkendall, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9If people start using H.264, they can have support in a page for the flash player but feed the H.264 to the iPhone raw using browser detection. Then everyone wins. And we all get better video.
- Me1000, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5The 1.0.1 update said bug fixes, but small new features were discovered later on...
- pfeester, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5As stated by others, camera is much snappier now (no pun intended). Safari has faster nav around the UI (bookmarks, etc.)
- s0ny, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Lies. I just used it and it works fine.
- DeepSkyDiver, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6I just don't trust Apple stuff before the 1.03 updates.. :)
- br0ken1128, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You can always use one of the web based IM clients.. which is exactly what I do right now, ebuddy works great and supports MSN, Yahoo and AOL .. feels like a native iphone app ..
- WillJS, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Mods causes a failed update, requiring a restore and update.. this will cause the 90mb update of the software.
- kajoob, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Before I update, can anybody confirm whether iFuntastic still works or not?
- MCarela, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6BREAKING NEWS:
No one cares if you don't like Apple. - Amplix, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3to quote kajoob above...
" Yes. I suggest you filter out the 'Apple' category if it bothers you. Just go to your profile page, then "manage topics", then uncheck "Apple" " - srg13, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You could just put a link to the H.264 content - that'd be good for desktop users as well.
- tdhurst, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2It was going to add GPS to yours, but then Apple realized nobody really cared where you were.
- liuping, on 10/10/2007, -0/+220 minute delayed quotes are fairly useless.
- anonym41414, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The iPhone can play H.264 no problem, thanks to the hardware decoder and the hardware-specific software implementation. Unfortunately, that has absolutely nothing to do with Flash.
Flash is a massively CPU-inefficient piece of code. It's not going to get magically better just because it's running on a device that has hardware support for H.264. - chotty, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Speaker volume while playing Voicemail is certainly, without a doubt much louder, clearer.
- SouthsideIrish, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Yeah, adds 3G, and the phone has now been banned because of the Broadcomm patent lawsuit, and ICE will be coming to your home to confiscate your phone.
- idugcoal, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4The squeaky wheel gets the grease.
- zeeky, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I had updates and had to restore like last time, so it doesn't brick it at all.
- FunkyWitDaSysTm, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5pretty safe guess
- tileeater, on 10/10/2007, -5/+7anyone notice how snappy the stocks widget seems to be with this update? that's my joke... get it? because nobody uses the stocks widget...
- ericdano, on 10/10/2007, -8/+10I Love You Apple. My iPhone keeps getting better and better!
- streak, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11.0.2 runs faster, too.
- dprevite, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I have the same problem. It freezes on incoming calls and text messages.
- wafu, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2i'd get the sk3.. it's better for typing, has aim etc. wait for iPhone 2.0! You'll be glad you did.
ps i have an iphone, so i'm not a hater. It just doesn't look like it fits your needs just yet. - streak, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I ran javascript benchmarks, which are quantitative. The results indicate 10% and up speed improvement.
- kaytrio, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
- tdhurst, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Since you laughed at yourself, does that mean you just came on yourself too?
