- Mephux, on 10/10/2007, -20/+6Well, I just downloaded '1.0.2 Brick Edition'. Possible an Installer.app Issue. Beware!
- Mephux, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11**Update**
3rd party apps, custom ring-tones, well custom anything. You Will Have To Restore!- WillJS, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Mods causes a failed update, requiring a restore and update.. this will cause the 90mb update of the software.
- FunkyWitDaSysTm, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4no crap! and a simple restore failed several times. i had to reset it manually a couple of times, try to jailbreak it (which failed), then reset it again. FINALLY it let me restore. rrr...
- Mephux, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Just a note to people with this problem. A simple reboot of the system with the iphone disconnected will fix this everytime.
- FunkyWitDaSysTm, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1uh... really? is this a winblows thing, or mac, too?
- Septimus, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1hahahahahahahahahahahaha... winblows! hahahahhahahhaha. wow. genius,
/***** off.

- kris33, on 10/10/2007, -15/+1Funny how this got more diggs in 25 minutes than the iPhone unlocking have got in 4 hours!
- kris33, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2I'm not talking about some Super/Turbo-sim method. This is a pure memory hack that will allow you to use any sim card.

- sio2man, on 10/10/2007, -12/+25Still no Flash,,, :-(
- nicroma, on 10/10/2007, -2/+20With the news about the upcoming flash update supporting H.264, hopefully we will see some iPhone support soon.
- anonym41414, on 10/10/2007, -3/+29You're not going to see Flash on the iPhone until Adobe figures out how to make it far, far less CPU-hungry.
- DanH, on 10/10/2007, -8/+2and H.264 isnt CPU hungry? LOL
- Terc, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Nope, not when you enclude a hardware decoder like the iPhone has.
- anonym41414, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The iPhone can play H.264 no problem, thanks to the hardware decoder and the hardware-specific software implementation. Unfortunately, that has absolutely nothing to do with Flash.
Flash is a massively CPU-inefficient piece of code. It's not going to get magically better just because it's running on a device that has hardware support for H.264.

- WillJS, on 10/10/2007, -16/+1Stop complaining... it's not going to solve anything.
- Roger, on 10/10/2007, -1/+25Complaining is more likely to solve something than not complaining.
- norman619, on 10/10/2007, -4/+3Yeah he should cheer instead....?
- idugcoal, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4The squeaky wheel gets the grease.
- superkendall, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9If people start using H.264, they can have support in a page for the flash player but feed the H.264 to the iPhone raw using browser detection. Then everyone wins. And we all get better video.
- FunkyWitDaSysTm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7yeah, well, unfortunately, the world is short on decent web designers who care enough to do this-- or even know how...
but yeah. when this happens, hooray! - srg13, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You could just put a link to the H.264 content - that'd be good for desktop users as well.
- FunkyWitDaSysTm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7yeah, well, unfortunately, the world is short on decent web designers who care enough to do this-- or even know how...
- zman14321, on 10/10/2007, -8/+6I can't believe there is no flash yet, that's insane! What is taking so long?

- TomPlansMedia, on 10/10/2007, -8/+7anyone seeing anything new? just updated and am digging around.
they only cited bug fixes in 1.0.1, but there were a few small tweaks in there. - mobilehavoc, on 10/10/2007, -11/+19So far nothing major but Safari seems snappier and my Yahoo Push is working great. Also why do people question these things? Worst case it makes your phone more stable and addresses bugs, just ***** download it and install it!
- jonfelder, on 10/10/2007, -3/+27No, the worst case is it introduces a serious security flaw or a serious bug that makes your phone less stable. There's some wisdom to not upgrading it right away if you feel your phone is working fine.
- pkulak, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I'd like to see IMAP idle support with someone other then Yahoo. They must have some agreement, because it would just be a matter of adding another setting box to a config screen.
- outz, on 10/10/2007, -9/+2The Mac Fanboy way... who cares, it's from Apple! Just download and install it!
- kaytrio, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
- flipmeat, on 10/10/2007, -4/+42The party doesn't really start until Leopard ships, I am guessing.
- FunkyWitDaSysTm, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5pretty safe guess
- xpose, on 10/10/2007, -29/+7iphone 1.0.2 update added an optional digg.com shortcut.
actually not really. But about 20 people just got a stiffy at the notion. Nerds.- Skod, on 10/10/2007, -21/+2Real nerds wish that Apple would take their vertical integration approach and shove it.
- kajoob, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Before I update, can anybody confirm whether iFuntastic still works or not?
- Me1000, on 10/10/2007, -7/+4last i head you cant jailbreak it anymore... (yet)
- s0ny, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Lies. I just used it and it works fine.
- troutsoup, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0ifuntastic 2.5 worked fine. i have my carrier logo and ringtones 'upgraded'
- Me1000, on 10/10/2007, -7/+4last i head you cant jailbreak it anymore... (yet)
- RedSquaree, on 10/10/2007, -40/+3I hate Apple.
Good day.- Amplix, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3to quote kajoob above...
" Yes. I suggest you filter out the 'Apple' category if it bothers you. Just go to your profile page, then "manage topics", then uncheck "Apple" " - MCarela, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3No one cares.
- Amplix, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3to quote kajoob above...
- JoeBaynham, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16Let the patch bitching begin... :D

- Storm9, on 10/10/2007, -4/+2Wonder what it did?
- blkpoetx, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14Things I've notice after i updated
Safari is much faster... and switching between webpages is smoother.. (when you have multiple pages open)
The Camera also appears to have image stabilations or something.. it's smoother as well.
who knows what other hidden updates where added.... remember the webgallery update?
i'm sure a new version of itunes is on it's way.
*** this update did mess up my installer.app hack..... that sucks.. i'm gonna just wait for new updates instead of installing the hacks.. too much headache.- blkpoetx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1******** I figured out part of the update......... YOUTUBE.... with the new update you can now watch videos that you couldn't using the YOUTUBE icon before.... before you could only view the really popular youtube videos...i did a test and sent myself a video from the YOUTUBE to my iphone.. and EUREKA it worked, tried 5 random videos and they all worked.... ****
- streak, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Javascript benchmarks upwards from 10% faster.
- LaSepultura, on 10/10/2007, -18/+2Is this the update that adds GPS, 3G, and a video camera? :-)
- cmyk, on 10/10/2007, -5/+6No, this updates your FACE.
- SouthsideIrish, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Yeah, adds 3G, and the phone has now been banned because of the Broadcomm patent lawsuit, and ICE will be coming to your home to confiscate your phone.
- Tippis, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I'd actually be rather impressed if a software update manage to rekabooble the radio hardware to use a completely different communications standard... The lawsuits and confiscation would be worth it ;)
- tdhurst, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2It was going to add GPS to yours, but then Apple realized nobody really cared where you were.

^^^ Updated Install Script for 1.0.2 - This is for Installer.app - neiltc13, on 10/10/2007, -18/+3Buried as lame. Seriously guys, it is not news when it is simply "Bug Fixes".
- Me1000, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5The 1.0.1 update said bug fixes, but small new features were discovered later on...
- streak, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11.0.2 runs faster, too.
- melondoc, on 10/10/2007, -8/+1Engadget seems to confirm that if you've hacked/modded your phone, it gets bricked. :(
Has any iFuntastic user been able to avoid bricking their phone, and if so, how? Just a theoretical question, you know...
Cheers.- superkendall, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13What do you mean by "Brick", because you can always restore an iPhone from scratch. Traditionally "Bricking" means the device will not even turn on, which is not the case if it simply tosses away some thing you have installed yourself. Heck, in that case you don't even have to restore, you just lose the extra apps you added (and can then re-add them after the patch and after the patch to the third party app loader, as per above)
- zeeky, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I had updates and had to restore like last time, so it doesn't brick it at all.

- thegreyfox, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Sound seems to come in more crisp over the headphones. not sure if its me tho....
- ericdano, on 10/10/2007, -8/+10I Love You Apple. My iPhone keeps getting better and better!
- DiggedyDoo, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19Man I can't wait until the REAL update. It's going to be like getting a whole new iPhone.
- DanH, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1you mean the one that actually adds functions people want?
- swimzach_2009, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I doubt that happening, I think those will be updated come time the new iPhone is released.
- slimbilly, on 10/10/2007, -10/+4 just bricked mine! yay!
- toxie86, on 10/10/2007, -10/+1good work sir id rather stick to my black on green screen nokia had it for many years and it still works 100%
- toxie86, on 10/10/2007, -9/+1haha why dig me down you know im right bithces!!!!
- techgb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8A little clarification, brick means the device is unrecoverable. It's a brick. This is not a condition that is recoverable.
If you can restore it, your phone has not been bricked.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brick_(electronics)- toxie86, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1thanks =]
- slimbilly, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2it's all fixed again. it wan't so much bricked as in need of restoring - thanks, iFuntastic! won't be mdding the ringtones again. i can't see any real changes yet. and those little nokia's were great for making calls. great reception. still, i'll take my iphone.
- toxie86, on 10/10/2007, -10/+1good work sir id rather stick to my black on green screen nokia had it for many years and it still works 100%
- frogman54, on 10/10/2007, -14/+5What's an iPhone? I've never heard of it.
- frontpage, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It's a new way of processing corn-based products. It's really remarkable when you consider the old ways.
- BillySmith, on 10/10/2007, -9/+1I don't know about the rest of the iphone users, but I paid a lot of money for this phone and I am tired of Mr. Job setting on his tail and not releasing our needed updates.I need corp e-mail and a ToDo app that runs locally on my phone not on the web. He said these things are coming and that is why I bought the phone. I feel that I have pre-paid for all this and NOW I want my goods.
Bill- toxie86, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3can the iphone make phone calls and send text messages yet?
- deadbaby, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14Why did you buy a product that didn't offer the features you needed? Seems pretty dumb to me.
- pfeester, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Word.
- tdhurst, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Buy a damn Blackberry then. I bet it will work with your exchange system.
- toetagger, on 10/10/2007, -9/+181.0.2 prevents blending. Okay digg me down *****!
- dlute99, on 10/10/2007, -6/+27My iPhone seems to be several millimeters wider, and my thumbs feel great! Thanks, Apple!
- m00gg, on 10/10/2007, -6/+3Bug fixes my arse... this is because Nullriver beat them to the punch. I might update when they release a 1.5.0, but not after the community packaging folks worked so hard to get their stuff out there... F the iPhone web apps. Term.app on my phone, that's where it is at!
Wake up Mr. Jobs...- KennMac, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1http://code.google.com/p/mobileterminal/
- sd123, on 10/10/2007, -7/+7My iPhone did my laundry and took out the trash after I installed this update. I've heard that when 1.0.3 comes out, it will wax your car.
- KennMac, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1OMG TEH FUNNAY
- tdhurst, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Mine had sex with your wife. Crazy.
- andretii, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Sorry, but iPhone owners don't have such a bad sense of humor = you don't have an iPhone
- pfeester, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5As stated by others, camera is much snappier now (no pun intended). Safari has faster nav around the UI (bookmarks, etc.)
- streak, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Some weird stuff now with the camera. When framing objects for a photograph, if the camera is jiggled, the objects jiggle like they're made of jello (er, Jello(TM)). I never noticed that with 1.0 or 1.0.1. My recollection is the image smeared when jiggled (certainly the pictures were smeared).
When switching from viewing photos back to camera mode, somehow the camera wound up in a mode with the viewfinder image split in half, and with the two halves on opposite sides of the display from where they should be. In landscape mode, the split was vertical (left and right halves). In portrait orientation, the split line was horizontal (top and bottom halves). I've not been able to reproduce this behavior yet, although I haven't really tried very hard.

- fuzzywitman, on 10/10/2007, -5/+5FYI, I installed the update and now my iPhone is freezing on incoming calls (seriously). Consider yourselves warned.
- dprevite, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I have the same problem. It freezes on incoming calls and text messages.
- xbryan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I too had this problem. My phone did not freeze up on me before applying 1.0.2. I tried everything to fix it (restored multiple times, etc). Eventually the WiFi on my iPhone gave up the ghost and I had to get it repaired. I got a loaner iPhone, applied 1.0.2 to it and it is now freezing. Suffice it to say I will not apply 1.0.2 on my iPhone when it comes back from repair.
- bgramer1, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2My Sidekick2 died last night and I spent an hour at Tmobile today only to be told that i have to pay a deductible of $110 for a replacement device, so I'm at a crossroads on whether to upgrade to SK3 or iPhone.
Here's the catch, I'm deaf and need IM support to make 3rd party relay phone calls. Would I be a dumbass now to buy the iPhone ahead of October when Leopard comes out and iPhone adds a bunch of new apps to work with it? iPhone has everything I need (and a superior user experience) except for a native IM chat app - and word on the street is that iChat was delayed because Apple/AOL's negotiations took longer than thought.
There's no waiting until October because I do need a communication device ASAP and can't afford the luxury of waiting.- wafu, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2i'd get the sk3.. it's better for typing, has aim etc. wait for iPhone 2.0! You'll be glad you did.
ps i have an iphone, so i'm not a hater. It just doesn't look like it fits your needs just yet. - DanH, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1get the sidekick 3.
- br0ken1128, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You can always use one of the web based IM clients.. which is exactly what I do right now, ebuddy works great and supports MSN, Yahoo and AOL .. feels like a native iphone app ..
- wafu, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2i'd get the sk3.. it's better for typing, has aim etc. wait for iPhone 2.0! You'll be glad you did.

http://www.iphonehacks.com/2007/08/iphone-news-1.html#more
Folks at Gizmodo have confirmed that iFuntastic 2.5 works fine on the new 1.0.2 firmware.
and:
Engadget is confirming that Jailbreak still works on the new firmware.
though:
Engadget guys have faced issues with their hacked iPhone. Here is what they had to say:
"We take it back about our backup working properly. Despite the fact that we had a couple of error messages during the upgrade which seemed innocuous, this iPhone update wiped out our device and refused to restore a backup, instead creating a new backup based on a fresh restore. In other words: we just lost everything on our friggin device and the automatic backup is gone." - GlobalVivific, on 10/10/2007, -10/+0While I’ve read other posts saying that they didn’t notice changes with the 1.0.2 patch: I did notice changes. That’s because I’m a True Believer. With this patch my iPhone now flies, turns invisible, and shoots lasers. That last new feature is my favorite, and I can’t wait to try it out in traffic tomorrow! But, for some reason my e-mail still says I have over 2-billion unread messages, after I read a couple of e-mails it tells me that I have negative two messages unread, and while I can move an e-mail to a separate folder I still can’t create folders. Syncing notes and ring tones? Nope, that’s not fixed yet. But the lasers are great. Trust me.
- mrminty, on 10/10/2007, -11/+3WOW, SOMETHING ABOUT THE IPHONE? NO WAY! I JUST CAME!
- mrminty, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1lolololol
- tdhurst, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Since you laughed at yourself, does that mean you just came on yourself too?
- chotty, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Speaker volume while playing Voicemail is certainly, without a doubt much louder, clearer.
- DanH, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2that's just the sound of the reality distortion field echoing.

No one cares if you don't like Apple. - tresthomas, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0has the calendar function changed? it seems like the list display now layers appointments. or maybe i just didn't notice before.
- harrydfoster, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0Any improvements could be due to the "placebo effect". Nonetheless, I pushed update. . . .
- BlueMeanie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Is there a list of what bugs were fixed somewhere online? I didn't see any info at Apple.com. I don't have an iPhone but we've been doing development for it and reported a bug with the media player to Apple, it'd be great if they fixed it.
