- leobaby, on 10/12/2007, -9/+47My thoughts? I think they are going to sell a ***** of these things.
(1 ***** = 10 boatloads = 100 assload) - fowleryo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+42might as well put a target logo on the end.
- Powerdrift, on 10/12/2007, -2/+37The iPod Shuffle part is nice :P
- weeklywordnews, on 10/12/2007, -3/+35Like I said in the comments, below this IS an official Apple ad... Its the holiday promo that is only showed in Apple stores. It was NOT meant for television.
- Quix, on 10/12/2007, -18/+48flag564 says "bah, humbug" about an Apple ad. Color me shocked.
Can't we just assume what you're going to say (since we've heard it a million times before) on every Apple digg, flag, and save the bandwidth of loading your lame posts? - waveman216, on 10/12/2007, -6/+35This has been playing in the window of the Apple Store here in Pasadena for around 2 weeks now. I don't think it's an official ad.
- weeklywordnews, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27This is the holiday promo they feature only in Apple stores... NOT meant for television.
- choopie911, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27I liked the tag-line for the Macbook:
"A present they will open every day"
clever - MuTeD, on 10/12/2007, -7/+28I like the Reopening part of the notebook part.
- harrydude, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23I actually liked the ad. The music was also pretty good. I don't see how this could be an unofficial ad. It would take a large design team to put an ad like this together, and I don't think a Joe Shmo would go to all that trouble just to make an unnoficial ad.
- brstilson, on 10/12/2007, -15/+31"flag564 says "bah, humbug" about an Apple ad. Color me shocked."
Of course, he lives his life to hate Apple. - wphj, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Everyone just ban flag like I did.
Digg is much nicer without him. - ani-pockdotnet, on 10/12/2007, -5/+19

(thanks Sujay) - steve693, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17Creative. . .as in Postal Service ripoff?
- UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13That makes much more sense, thanks.
- eviltoaster2go, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10This makes a lot of sense as an "in store" ad.
The purpose of the ad is not to bring people to the store, but to show customers what they can buy. (think bestbuy closed circuit tv)
With in store ads, music is usually irrevalent, as it is usually muted, and the format of the video is designed to be looped. Its well designed in this way.
its nice, but not really newsworthy - titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -11/+20 flag564, just needs a hug.
- D3koy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13Quit Digg, leave and never come back...

direct - nbeighley, on 10/12/2007, -9/+17The last creative ad I saw from apple (except the now over-played pc vs mac guys) was when they first introduced the mac and intel partnership (I believe Kiefer Sutherland did the voice over). Now those were cools ads...this on the other hand, is nothing more than I have already seen a dozen times before.
- jake57, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10It plays as the screensavers for the Macs in the Apple Store.
- Lou3000, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Who is digging you down, Apple haters wouldn't, but Apple lovers shouldn't either, you obviously own a mac or you wouldn't be in an iLife sesssion.
I've had some instability problems with Adobe apps, but only because I've gotten so used to never saving, that is a negative, because you put like 3 hours of work into something only to loose it. You expect that with a PC, so you save every 5 minutes. - foshaug, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Please stop quoting flag. I have him blocked for a reason.
- friend18, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I like the epic music.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -9/+14It's in the right category. You don't like it? Turn off the Apple category in your preferences.
And shut up. - CrankyMcGuy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7This is not an official Apple ad. This is the store promo put to overly dramatic music. I grabbed this demo from the Apple store two weeks ago. It plays silently on all Macs on the floor. It has no sound. Watch the ad WITHOUT the music and it's more impressive, IMO. Just slick graphics showing off product. The music added by fanboys is far too pretentious.
- mattyxo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I didn't think it was great but it's a little creative. Maybe not as awesome as the tracers one... but you don't see many companies coming up with this kind of quality commercial for *in-store promos*
- n3tfury, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4yep, looks like a commercial. how this ***** makes the front page is beyond me.
- titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9Doesn't matter if you like it or not, if you don't like it turn of the category and spare us the drama, flag already provides too much.
- chesterton, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9I was just in the local Apple watering hole today and this was playing there, *and* the decorations were consistent with the theme in the ad.
- Tandaemonium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4You're right. It is from Love, Actually.
- jonmholmes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I'm with coryjb. Kinda PC'ish and uneventful. Give me a "Hi I'm a Mac & I'm a PC" commercial any day! Has anyone thought about how inexpensive those commercials must be to produce? Just think about. Steve Jobs flips his MacBook Pro around and fires up his iSight. Calls out to the actors and tells them to do their thing and then hits to save the session. While having iChat open he double clicks on one of his marketing guys icons and delivers the file. His closing remark to marketing guy is, "you don't need to edit it and I want this loaded on apple.com in t-minus 5,4,3,2,1. And seamlessly, "BAAAAMMMM" I'm sitting there watching it while busting my gut at the simplicity and hilarity of the ad. I bet that Jobs doesn't part ways with more than a C-Note per ad. He probably hands a fresh bill over and says to the crew to take an extra half our for lunch and have pizza on him. Man, I digg Apple, but Steve, please don't waste my time with fancy spinning computers and iPod Shuffles dropping out of the air. The only Shuffle I want dropping out of the air is the one I purchased falling on to the elastic on my running shorts as I'm pealing out the door for a brisk winter jaunt.
- dave1021, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5There's only two ways that ad could actually look "cool" - if Ray Harryhausen had done it in real, honest-to-God stop-action animation, and/or it featured the Norelco Santa.
Otherwise - ecccccch.... - Sujay, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Better Quality (Hi-Def):
http://mactv.uneasysilence.com/videos/hd/holiday2006_h264_hd.mov - gardo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Nice! Incredible and really lovely! And the music is really cool too! It seems familiar though, probably it is from the movie "Love Actually", any hints anyone?
- webtry, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6I think it looks ugly and kitsch, didn't like it!
- mancat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Why are you in love with a corporation?
- telexgalt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4this isn't an add, it's the screen savers used in the apple store on the demo units. someone just put music to it.
burried as inacurate - wedges, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3thats right, it plays on all the screens in their stores... it's a screen saver.
- ST0N3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3this is not an ad. this is the in-store screen saver that apple updated during the planogram update before thanksgiving.
- Fairly, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Give people the real link.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=PW4pDM1hyLU
No use promoting some site just because they embedded a clip from YouTube. - Joshuarr, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7I'd usually agree with you, but in this case the competition needs a good bashing.
- Tayls, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@weekly: That explains it. It looks a little low-budget (the animation is just motion tweens without much manual editing) and the text would barely work on standard television. I can believe it's just for the store, but I knew there wasn't enough style or production value for this thing to be running nationally.
- AndrewMB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Gosh, I am tired of these damn posts! You don't have to submit a story every time you see a mac ad.
- AhmedB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The swirl effect for the iPod Nanos, the domino effect for the MBPs and the falling down like clothes clips for the shuffle are really nice
- Miyazaki, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Dugg for music from Love, Actually.
- kingfoot, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9it's actually a really nice ad. and also, I have seen it on the local channels here in seattle.
- nofxjunkee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@wphj: i always get buried for suggesting that. the replies to his trolls are as off topic as his trolling itself and it breaks the conversation.
anyway the ad's not too bad. it's not stellar but it sure as hell beats those Get a Mac ads. the only snooty part was "who on your list is worthy?" ... but that was only one of several so pretty good i'd say. "trust us, it's their size" for the shuffle and then "some stockings are luckier than others" at the end was a good finish imo. - fowleryo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6ha, creative in what aspect? it was a rehash of a postal service music video.. down to specific shots.
at least it was the same director.
edit: beat - esamsoe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3that is terrible. It feels like a montage for the Winter Olympics
