Apple Opening Up iPhone Developer Program

macrumors.com — Based on reports from developers, it seems Apple has opened the program up and dropped the "beta" designation. Multiple developers have reported that they have been accepted into the $99/yr developer program which allows them to install their applications directly onto their iPhone and also submit their apps for inclusion into the iTunes App Store.

  • lickmyback, on 07/14/2008, -0/+1I'm sick of companies like Apple and Microsoft skirting the whole open-source concept - they want all the advantages of having other people contribute to their code base but don't want to contribute anything back themselves. It's just another Apple PR initiative. Either open-source your code or don't, quit soft-peddling.
