- thomasknowland, on 10/10/2007, -6/+98iPod touch price drop already?
- svenjick, on 10/10/2007, -7/+66It's only going to be a leather cover for the iPhod Touch, signed by David Beckam and blessed by her Majesty the Queen.
- jgreene777, on 10/10/2007, -5/+37they would have sold SO many more in the US if they hadn't tied it to Att/Cingular...
- TomFrost, on 10/10/2007, -4/+34IMMEDIATELY waiting? Couldn't you hang back a bit and then start waiting later? :D
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -5/+31iPhone coming to europe? I hear it will have HSDPA built in. Lucky Brits. We're still crawling with EDGE ova here!!!
- btgoss, on 10/10/2007, -2/+26It is discount CCTV... 22.25 hours a day... metric you know...
- uptown, on 10/10/2007, -1/+25I still don't get why everybody is so excited over Beatles possibly going to iTunes. Just buy the crap on CD today (which if you're a Beatles fan, you probably already own much of it). Buying & ripping yourself gives you so much more flexibility over bitrates, etc.
- Zippo, on 10/10/2007, -4/+27No surprise... when it comes to internet and cell phone technology, North America is years behind Asia and Europe.
- NeoCortex, on 10/10/2007, -5/+27Hell with the price drop. Keep the price and just increase the storage size to 60-80GB. Then I'll pick one up.
- glasgowm, on 10/10/2007, -5/+26Taken for the engadget comments
"I work at the store and we've been given 50 or so boxes to keep secure, haven't got a clue whats in them though, but they're under CCTV pretty much 24/7" - yensed, on 10/10/2007, -2/+22iWish
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -5/+22If its in the UK there is nowhere you can go without being on CCTV 24/7.
- alexp2ad, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16Lol, that was one of the randomest comments I've ever seen.
- ladon86, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15It's actually £8 now! Around $16 for you yanks.
Very expensive if you have to go in every day. - EBFoxbat, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14If they launch a 16 gig iPhone w/3g... I'm IMMEDIATELY waiting 77 days before I buy it.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+16"pretty much"? ....that's the "I'm making this up" slip.
- tizz66, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Why wouldn't they release something better when the support is available for it? On the contrary, I highly doubt Apple would release a product that doesn't support the technologies available in Europe.
- Vazelos, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12Let this be the European iPhone... and by European, I don't mean just UK, France, Germany, Spain....
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10"I've been using HSDPA in the USA since November"
Good for you. But we're talking about apple products like the iPhone... as in "the iPhone only supports EDGE and NOT HSDPA."
Why don't you join in on the conversation? - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Just get ten of them...
- zioxide, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11It's not ***** october yet.
- synagence, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11Would make sense to clarify the iphone EU situation before the ipod touch launches ..... if they launch a 16Gb iphone i'm buying that ... otherwise stick with touch..... would find it hard to believe apple would launch an update anyway ... i hear O2 in the UK is "updating" its network for edge (it had 3g but not edge)
- daridave, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7No, not really. It's not about the carriers, it's about the cell phones themselves. The lines are far from free there as well, but they throw phones at you like peanuts...
- PradaPete, on 10/10/2007, -4/+11yeah with a little drawing by Ricky Gervais and a side pocket for some ecstasy pills and a serving of fish'n'chips. first 10 buyers will get a dvd with the full '66 world cup final free of charge
- colincornaby, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7They tried to go with Verizon first. It wasn't like ATT was their first choice.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9BS! November's not even for 2 more months!
- glasgowm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Theres a charge for using london streets during those hours. £6 to be exact
- aDJsavedmylife, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Yeah I'm sure Apple will launch the iPhone in a ***** ***** hole like Glasgow.
- RadicalEdward, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8I woulda pissed myself over a CDMA iPhone. Frickin verizon bastards. Just HAD to go and turn it down.
- coldfusion1970, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9I wanted this to be the shipping of the touch, but its more likely to be the iPhone UK launch.
- eibbojtir, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Beatles in iTunes? Please? I almost bought all of their albums in Amazon last night (regular UK releases) and both volumes of Past Masters (to include stuff like Hey Jude that was never on a UK album) for under $200 shipped. The cheapest boxed set will run you close to $300 and most of them miss stuff! If they do a Beatles iPod like the U2, it had better cost less than that for all of their DRM'ed, lower-than-CD-quality music
- Dweller99, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Apple sure knows how to play the fanbase. As soon as they stop seeing 5 "what if" and "rumor:" articles on every tech related site on the net on any given day they trot out a new "event" to work everyone into a lather.
Prediction: People will speculate about some new incredible product. Apple will announce something that does not live up to the hype. People will crow about how cool and revolutionary it is while Apple stock drops 5% due to the disappointment factor. The next day the stock starts climbing back up to its old price point. Within a week after the press starts to die down, a new press event will get announced. Wash, Rinse, Repeat as necessary. - thehurricaneuk, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6woo, hopefully i can get a free upgrade on my contract to get an iphone!
- Tippis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Potentially, that doesn't even matter.
Depending on what country they're rolling out in, they will be legally obliged to provide an official unlocking mechanism themselves -- no home-hack software needed -- heck, given the right countries, they'll be forbidden to lock it to begin with... - squeaker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4What the ***** are you talking about?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4"It'd be nice to see an international (as in, USA too) launch of a 3G iPhone handset."
If Apple announced an updated iPhone for the U.S. next week, they would have a nightmare in the stock market the next morning.
You cannot dilute your products this much after a price cut like the one they just offered. - zioxide, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7I'm sort of glad they didn't go with verizon. They would have wiped OS X off of it and put their proprietary trash os on it.
- frem001, on 10/10/2007, -4/+8I highly doubt apple would release something better in Europe, although current precedents set by other mobile phone manufacturers might give me hope for a higher capacity 3.5G iPhone. I'm just happy about getting unlimited edge from o2 if they really are the exclusive carrier for the UK
- heinousjay, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Are the million iPhones sold also proof that it's struggling? I'm interested in how you spin that one.
- DiggyGrant, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6I think if they release a 3G iphone in the uk it will not be that popular unless Tariffs go down for data plans fast.
- richardiscool, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3There's a camera at the bottom of my street, and on the street next to it, and I live in a suburb or a small town.
- thegenome, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Bird bird bird, the bird is the word.
- aliguana, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I'll just settle for one that works, thanks
- morphie, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/251850.html
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4The 3 network offer unlimited mobile usage for £5 a month, thats a pretty good tariff.
- DaviDaviDaviD, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Should be an interesting event. Should make or break my decision to get one or a touch!
- tadunne, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3That's the cheapest and is good, except for the 1gig transfer limit. so not quiet unlimited. The rest of the carriers charge that much that I think they don't actually want to sell data services? 2 quid per meg is normal.
- aliguana, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3wait, the 16 gig one hasn't come out yet, has it? They wouldn't dare announce a 32gig one a few days after the release of the 16 gig one, fanboys the world over would be demanding free upgrades/refunds/blowjobs
- bigsteve, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Your related story is hidden, alright. Oh, little red thumbs down. I wish I had more than one click to give you.
- Ramble, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Inner city Glasgow launch?
They'd all be half inched in about 5 minutes. -
