- MacParrot, on 03/26/2009, -2/+98It's been what...3 months? How much of a difference are you really going to see in 3 months? Everything he was aware of or was working on is still in the works or about to be released. If/when he leaves, let's see how things are a year later.
- BrendanSheehan, on 03/26/2009, -8/+75This is stupid. Steve hasn't left. Everyone knows he lives in a cave under Apple headquarters!
- farfromsubtl, on 03/26/2009, -7/+63The shuffle isn't exactly kicking butt.
- mmaine, on 03/26/2009, -4/+45Steve Jobs, sick or not, will always loom large at Apple.
- BradBrown, on 03/26/2009, -3/+38"But it is now small enough to be inserted into one.," replies fake Richard Gere.
- scoot2006, on 03/26/2009, -1/+33I'm pretty sure Apple plans much further ahead than the length of the break Jobs took.
- alanocu, on 03/26/2009, -8/+28If Apple is doing well when Steve is not around, to his credit, the company is well-managed; he has a good team of people.
A good leader empowers and employs people who will make the company successful, who can act responsibly and independently without having a babysitter around.
This article should be a complement to Steve Jobs, his work, his team and his company. There is nothing negative here. This would be bad only if the company was performing horribly in his absence.. If I were a shareholder, first I would first hope Steve's health was improving. But I would be relieved by this news.
Seriously, the people burying this story need to get a job. Or wait until you graduate from high school before dropping off the ignorant comments. - LoganT, on 03/26/2009, -1/+16Thanks man I totally couldn't see what he wrote until you wrote it again.
- digiguy, on 03/26/2009, -2/+15How does anyone know Steve Jobs still isn't involved from his home?
- roxgod666, on 03/26/2009, -0/+12Obviously he's talking about the new one if you have an ounce of common sense.
- nbluth, on 03/26/2009, -2/+13wow that was terrible.
- henhouse0, on 03/26/2009, -3/+13I hope the guy gets better, I can't see Apple without him, regardless if they still remain the same.
- geesamba, on 03/26/2009, -0/+10Exactly. It takes a lot of time and effort to drastically steer a large ship in another direction. Just ask the captain of the Titanic.
- MacHarborGuy, on 03/26/2009, -0/+8the next iPod Shuffle will simply be two earbuds with a cord connecting them. plus with it's accelerometer you shake your head to shuffle the songs as well as your brain :)
- 11oops, on 03/26/2009, -2/+8This is awesome. A comment that I really would have liked to digg up more than once, and now I get to digg it up five times!
- serif69, on 03/26/2009, -3/+9Dear digg developers,
I set my comment threshold to Show All for the 3rd time yesterday, and now it's back to hiding all of the comments with less than a -5 score again. That's not even a choice. I have seen others point out that their viewing setting shave been defaulted as well. I understand that you're in the midst of a move, but it's starting to get irritating.
Love,
serif69 - cromulent742, on 03/26/2009, -3/+9terribly awesome

- jakereilly, on 03/26/2009, -2/+7I'm pretty sure there are more important things in life right now.
Pretty sure. - lepetitmousse, on 03/26/2009, -0/+5i wish i knew that that meant.
well, not really. - likwidfuzion, on 03/26/2009, -0/+5Try 2007 my friend.
- fjsferreira, on 03/26/2009, -5/+10Duh, Christianity is still pretty important, and Jesus is long gone too.
- skellener, on 03/26/2009, -0/+4Apple Kicking Butt Without Steve Jobs - I don't know about all that. They've been back-ordered on their laptops for weeks.
- Gee1004, on 03/26/2009, -2/+6It takes more than 3 months to design and make a product. I am sure Jobs knew about it and was still working there
- McGuinness, on 03/26/2009, -0/+4Bingo, if he doesnt come back, It's going to take a few years for his absence to take effect. If Jobs started planning the iPhone in 2000, and it came out in what 2005? Thats about a 5 year effect he's going to have after he's gone.
- rpgmakr, on 03/26/2009, -0/+4This article's premise is stupid. To see how Steve's departure will hurt Apple some keynotes will have to go by (so we can appreciate how the audience will respond, if more people will go or stop going to the event, etc.) and some products to be released (if they are less polished or the get a design shift that suck, very unlikely seems the same designer is still on board) AND, the most important, Steve must be out for a few years to actually see a change in the company's policy after his departure. If he gets back in June is like he never left.
- philipz78, on 03/27/2009, -0/+4I thought I was the only one!
- rebrad, on 03/27/2009, -0/+4What do you mean that Jobs is buried? Do you know something we don't?
- rebrad, on 03/27/2009, -0/+3What do you mean that Jobs is buried? Do you know something we don't?
- aduzik, on 03/26/2009, -3/+6Steve's biggest contribution to Apple hasn't been any particular product, but helping the company find its way again. The people he's put in place are those he believes will keep the company moving in the right direction. It's little surprise that they've done exactly what he hired them to do, then.
- inactive, on 03/26/2009, -4/+7Why would it really matter without Jobs? Apple will still be fine without Jobs, Microsoft is fine without Gates, and would be fine without Ballmer (although they would be publicly embarrassed a lot less often)...and so on.
I never understood why some people place the entire responsibility of companies squarely on their leaders heads. These companies are ENORMOUS, and while the CEOs have a great deal of influence, there are entire teams responsible for success. - MtheoryX, on 03/26/2009, -0/+3Get Me A Fruit Bowl?
You need to at least say please. - theLaika, on 11/02/2009, -5/+8yeah, the iPod shuffle has been a huuge hit.
..just throwing it out there. - skellener, on 03/26/2009, -0/+3I thought it was a fake ad - it's ***** real! Stupid. The previous shuffle was a great design functional and pretty cool. The new one sucks.
- gregdogum, on 03/26/2009, -0/+3no u
- Daniel591992, on 03/26/2009, -0/+3Hopefully he has Apple Care!
- asiegrist, on 06/20/2009, -3/+5the new ipod shuffle is a great success? not a chance
- DeathJux, on 03/26/2009, -2/+4Exactly. Apple employs lots of brilliant people, so it's no surprise that they'll continue to keep it afloat intelligently.
- Hellman109, on 03/26/2009, -0/+2Exactly,
Product cycles are over 3 months therfore everything coming out at the moment existed before he left.
And if he returns in June, he will catch things before they ship, so impact will be minimal.
Im pretty sure just about everyone, including Windows fanboys like me, agree that if he returns in June Apple will still be Apple. The only time things may dramatically change is if Steve doesnt return LONG term, Im talking before the end of the year, not even June. - Gee1004, on 03/26/2009, -0/+2Why are people digging this down? I guess there are no CEO's on digg.
- suprememilo, on 03/27/2009, -0/+2Actually according to the site that wrote this article it is...
http://www.businessinsider.com/apples-new-ipod-shu ... - wilhoitm, on 03/26/2009, -2/+4Steve has evolved into pure energy!
- OuijaCat, on 03/26/2009, -0/+2Cranial Implants.

'Kicking butt', indeed..? - ofenza, on 03/26/2009, -2/+4As much as I enjoy watching Steve Jobs' keynotes, and admire him as a business man, I think he has done his work and is now ready to leave in order to detach the company from this cult of his personality. In a few months he will come back and say: See? Apple doesn't need me. They're doing great. I trust these guys, that's why I chose them.
They're just treating everyone as a bunch of children that must be dealt with care. We wouldn't be able to handle his sudden demise so they're just doing it really slow, lying us a bit here and there.
Anyway, I love Apple, I love their products, I would never go back to purchasing another computer, or phone btw, from another brand, and I thank Steve Jobs and his vision for what it resulted in. The guy is a ***** legend, give him that. Apple is a buldozer now. It's amazing. - phoomp, on 03/27/2009, -1/+3Apple employs lots of brilliant people ... who've been trained to jump when Steve says so.
- rdldr1, on 03/26/2009, -2/+3I would not call the new button-less iPod shuffle a large part of their "kicking butt."
- rdldr1, on 03/26/2009, -0/+1You need to learn "Apple morse code" in order to use the new shuffle;
http://i.gizmodo.com/5168478/apples-control-scheme ...
"To rewind, triple-click and hold the center button." - canyonblue, on 03/28/2009, -0/+1Guys, Steve has been gone for less than 3 months. If he is gone forever the effects will be felt starting in a year or more as new products that haven't seen his touch begin to appear, that is when you decide how Apple will go on. Right now everything you are seeing out of Apple is Steve Jobs influenced even if he isn't in a turtleneck to explain them on stage.
- shadowman99, on 03/26/2009, -2/+3Pixar is managing just fine without Jobs, so why shouldn't Apple?
There will come a day when both companies must carry on without him. I imagine he had qualified people in place long ago. -
