- Del129, on 01/16/2008, -18/+554$300 is a small price to pay for innovation like this.
- johnnybluejeans, on 01/16/2008, -69/+335This just in: Gizmodo should stick to tech and drop the comedy.
- theholotrope, on 01/16/2008, -3/+197I have a couple of these in my office if anybody is interested. I'll sell them to you for 250. But just for you, my friend.
- basic0, on 01/16/2008, -12/+187I seriously couldn't tell if this was a joke when I first started reading it. I think my line of reasoning was "If they'll release the MacBook Air for $1800-3200, then a $300 envelope doesn't seem that outrageous."
- geezshock, on 01/16/2008, -29/+175will it blend ?
- kinseyincanada, on 01/16/2008, -0/+142so whos going to tell him it was sarcasm?
- k1down, on 01/16/2008, -5/+112Me, Ok...
IT'S A SARCASM! - Chirp08, on 01/16/2008, -1/+90Don't feel like lugging that heavy new laptop around? Well this case doubles as postage packaging! Simply mail your laptop to your destination and avoid the hassle!
- hyperionshift, on 01/16/2008, -2/+76Oh noes, the clip and tie-string are embedded in the case. If they fail, you'll have to ship it back to Apple for replacement. Thankfully, it's still free shipping!
- inactive, on 01/16/2008, -7/+77When did Gizmodo turn into the ***** Onion?
- SupaNeo, on 01/16/2008, -34/+101This idea was blatantly stolen from a Digg comment yesterday. See for yourself:
http://digg.com/apple/New_Apple_MacBook_Air_Is_Wor ...
"Oh, and one more thing....there will now be Apple branded Manilla Envelopes to carry your MacBook Air around in for just 89.99 ::wild applause::"
-StormFreak
Just when you thought you couldn't lose anymore respect for Gizmodo. - 350Zed, on 01/16/2008, -1/+61NO!!! You'll void the warranty!
You need to buy the Apple® Manila® Case® Expansion Kit® for $30. It contains Apple® Manila® Case® Lacerators® and a roll of Apple® Manila® Case® Adhesive Strips®. - UncleHenry, on 01/16/2008, -4/+64n now am liek u r such a doosh!
- r2builder, on 01/16/2008, -12/+69Dear an0nym0uz, kindly go to your profile and stop receiving news about Apple. Until you do this, you'll continue to annoy the rest of the digg community.
Thanks. - mwalker05, on 01/16/2008, -4/+58im sure the giz staff was avidly scanning digg comments for an article idea. it is fact that selling an envelope as a laptop case occurred to nobody else but stormfreak. i mean its not like its obvious given that its apple and they introduced it by pulling it out of one.
- RadiantBeing, on 01/16/2008, -7/+57Buried as innaccurate. I just spent half an hour trying to buy one of these for my MacBook Air. It isn't on Apple's website.
- slimjim5811, on 01/16/2008, -0/+47With minor modifications using scissors and tape.
- gn0stik, on 01/16/2008, -2/+47Selling an envelope for three hundred dollars is pretty funny and appropriate apple satire in my opinion.
- daridave, on 01/16/2008, -3/+47Apple logo? come one that's worth at least 500$.
- Ireland, on 01/16/2008, -0/+40Don't let Gizmodo into your house, they'll turn off you TV
- Radica1Faith, on 01/16/2008, -1/+40Warning: Manilia Case v. 1.2 will brick your Manila Case if it has been modified with third-party magic markers.
Best comment on there. - dafragsta, on 01/16/2008, -3/+40The sad reality is that Gizmodo probably ripped the idea directly from the comments on Digg. Someone mentioned the notion of selling overpriced envelopes yesterday in jest. Now it's ad revenue driving content on Gizmodo.
- roberri, on 01/16/2008, -0/+31Least coherent post ever!
- phoomp, on 01/16/2008, -3/+33I like the comedy
- Jeffler, on 01/16/2008, -10/+39C-C-COMBO BREAKER!
- timusca, on 01/16/2008, -1/+29No, but I can point you to a social networking site that allows the blocking of certain categories.
Digg.com - rspeed, on 01/16/2008, -1/+25Oh man, I thought of that during the keynote. That guy stole my brain waves and made that comment! WHERE IS MY ALUMINUM FOIL???
- Waskonator, on 01/16/2008, -3/+24$20 to be able to close it? pffft. I mean, I've paid $5 for a bit of red string before. But $20???
- truspect0r, on 01/16/2008, -7/+28Gizmodo: Our jokes always fail.
- Thoraxes, on 01/16/2008, -2/+22Next worlds thinnest should be the price tag. Seriously.
- Falldog, on 01/16/2008, -0/+17It was funnier when someone on digg made the joke yesterday.
- elvenseven, on 01/16/2008, -4/+19so whos going to tell them ^ they fail?
- Universal, on 01/16/2008, -0/+14Just use one of the Apple stickers.
- Dedpoet, on 01/16/2008, -1/+14You're 26 years old and still use "ur" when you mean "you're?" You're on Digg; you can probably type relatively quickly. Type the few extra characters and you won't look as bad as the person you're trying to make fun of.
- BOFH2, on 01/16/2008, -1/+14You can't modify it on your own! You have to send it in, wait 3 weeks and then get it back. I mean, that's what this guy told me online....
- antdude, on 01/16/2008, -0/+12Does yours have Apple's logo?
- inactive, on 01/16/2008, -10/+22your name sucks. dude ur 29 years old and u still use zero in place of "o"'s? you might as well upper case every other letter. wow and you even topped it off with a "z"
- techweenie1, on 01/16/2008, -2/+14Will the envelope case be available in black for $500?
- gandhii, on 01/16/2008, -0/+11$320 with the string
- WhiskeyLemur, on 06/30/2009, -0/+11Apple doesn't swing that way.
- Radan, on 01/16/2008, -1/+12Can anyone recommend me a a social news site which isn't dominated by platform fanboys who screams out fanboy every time someone likes a product which (s)he doesn't use?
I believe there's at least if not more Anti Apple "fanboys" on this site than Mac users and people who has accepted the fact that just because someone likes a product that they don't like, doesn't mean that he or she is a retarded maggot.
Bashing other people because they like another product (I'm talking about everyone right now) is so bloody 1990 that it hurts. Even worse is that many simply bash the other product for no other reason but that someone ELSE likes the said product.
Now suck this; I own an iPhone and I love it, I think gun control laws are great, Super Mario Galaxy is fun but got to be the most overrated game in history, closely followed by Bioshock which also was great but far from perfect, I'm against piracy and I'm even thinking about buying a PS3. - MacEnvy, on 01/16/2008, -1/+12But you didn't "quote" anything ...
- Firehed, on 01/16/2008, -2/+12You've paid $5 for string before? I've got a piece of real estate that may interest you...
- Nothlit, on 01/16/2008, -1/+11Probably not. The fact that Steve Jobs himself pulled the thing out of a manilla envelope during the keynote was probably their inspiration...
- flxfxp, on 01/16/2008, -0/+10At least with this you can actually replace a component, the red kaballah string.
- cawpin, on 01/16/2008, -1/+10Especially the performance "art".
- praptak, on 01/16/2008, -4/+13Ok, not very funny, but the question remains: Who the hell cares that the laptop is so ultra thin? Why does Apple pimp the "feature" so hard? It's not a fvcking palmtop for God's sake, you won't fit it into your trouser pocket anyway!
- WhiskeyLemur, on 06/30/2009, -0/+9But you have to mail it back to change the string.
- digitalarcanum, on 01/16/2008, -9/+18I agree. Apple sucks and this year's macworld just proves it in spades. they haven't done anything revolutionary.
- inactive, on 01/16/2008, -0/+9I wonder how many i can sell on ebay.
