- trotskyist, on 03/27/2008, -3/+830I think the bigger news here is that someone actually read a License Agreement.
- OrangeSoda31, on 03/27/2008, -20/+338It is all part of a clever ploy to get users to install it with iTunes, and then sue them for everything the have.
- dan21328, on 03/27/2008, -3/+270Ah, now I can finally put those Apple logo decals to good use!
- mulling, on 03/27/2008, -0/+204This just proves that even people in the legal department don't read the EULA.
- inactive, on 03/27/2008, -9/+196Oh noez now I have to settle for firefox..
- CraigReed, on 03/27/2008, -1/+143Looks like someone in the legal department used copy/paste.
- banmaster, on 03/27/2008, -1/+89Well it certainly wasn't anyone from the iPhone department was it.
To them, cut and paste is just something that happens to other people. - grumpyrain, on 03/27/2008, -1/+78> do people even read the articles
Hi, you must be the new guy. - PrometheusTitan, on 03/27/2008, -0/+72Read, but clearly didn't understand. If the agreement says you can install it on no more than one "one Apple-labelled computer at a time", then there should be no problem installing it on a Windows machine. Presumably that means you're installing it on ZERO Apple-labelled computers at a time.
- IIIpoqIII, on 03/27/2008, -3/+65Ha ha, I'm covered!
see:
http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/9867/applepchs7 ... - iDe1337, on 03/27/2008, -15/+73Now the reason why they put Safari 3.1 in the Apple software update even if you didn't currently have it makes sense! They just want to sue everyone.
- Kratos76, on 03/27/2008, -18/+70Apple Update software IS malware.
- CanIGetAWitness, on 03/27/2008, -12/+61No worries, I wouldn't install Safari.
- flashback99, on 03/27/2008, -0/+45yeah, I only have one lifetime.
- austin63, on 03/27/2008, -4/+46Really captain obvious? We all thought apple was being serious. This is a commentary of the ridiculousness of EULA's not that apple plans on suing windows users.
- FutureGuy, on 03/27/2008, -5/+47But then its Apple, it should be a pleasure even when Apple sues you.
/s - Lunarbunny, on 03/27/2008, -6/+46I was PUGging Sins of a Solar Empire the other day and one of the other guys thought he had a crash to desktop. Instead it was the Apple Software Update pushing Safari at him stealing focus from the game...
- aliguana, on 03/27/2008, -14/+48I'm still waiting for Apple Software Update to say "OSX is ready to install on your machine. Click OK to continue....". Not that I'd mind that.... not at all ;)
- Spuy767, on 03/27/2008, -14/+48Actually, it's probably a simpe mistake in the EULA, and not the first I've seen.
- inactive, on 03/27/2008, -2/+35I do not license this comment to be read by Digg users...
- MacParrot, on 03/27/2008, -0/+33Damnit! That means I have to switch to Windows to make WMDs. I don't mind taking on governments, but Apple's legal team? (shiver)
- phoomp, on 03/27/2008, -0/+30Of course it's a simple mistake. But, it highlights everything that's wrong with EULAs and tells us that companies take their EULAs even less seriously than we do.
- mrmorris, on 03/27/2008, -38/+68Just uninstalled everything Apple related, lately their handcuffs have just gotten too much.
- banmaster, on 03/27/2008, -1/+31Damn. I bet you're absolutely gutted!
- Shadowgamers, on 03/27/2008, -5/+33People should do it more often considering how far-fetched some EULA's are getting
- shinigami052, on 03/27/2008, -1/+28haha this reminds me of the other little EULA thing apple slipped into itunes awhile back about not using itunes to make nuclear weapons...
- Braxo, on 03/27/2008, -2/+29I like the part of Apple's License Agreements that forbid the use of their software and hardware in the manufacture of Nuclear, Chemical and Biological weapons of mass destruction
- usingpond, on 03/27/2008, -18/+44This is probably the stupidest article I've ever read.
- InfiniteNothing, on 03/27/2008, -0/+25Loophole ftw
- WomensUnderwear, on 03/27/2008, -0/+24or perhaps "OSX has now been installed on your system, which will now restart"
- Ascus, on 03/27/2008, -1/+24Does this mean that Apple can be sued for the illegal distribution of their own software?
- lamiaconfitor, on 03/27/2008, -14/+35lame.
- franklymister, on 03/27/2008, -9/+29Which could have been Adobe Updater, Windows Updater, or any other number of dialog boxes that intrude when you're trying to do something. The moral of the story is that OSes should never steal focus from the user unless it's an emergency, like your computer is on fire.
- grumpyrain, on 03/27/2008, -2/+22Aw come on, I saw that iTunes icon on your desktop. That gives us the right to demand you install Safari.
- subxero37, on 03/27/2008, -7/+26The Windows version of Safari is actually a great browser. Loads Digg pages much better/faster than Firefox, but Firefox's extensions, customizability, and native-to-Windows look make it work so much better on Windows.
- renegadeafk, on 03/27/2008, -3/+20Windows update doesn't steal focus from games.
- skidooer, on 03/27/2008, -4/+20Because of the big push of Safari through iTunes with this license, I think it's clear that Apple considers a Windows PC an Apple-labeled computer. Which would also allow OS X on generic hardware fall under the terms of the license.
- banmaster, on 03/27/2008, -11/+26FUD?? For christ's sake, why are apple fans such sickening apologists for every bad thing apple corp does??
- Kerrigore, on 03/27/2008, -1/+16Good point... Windows machines are clearly less than one Apple-branded computer, not more.
- MacParrot, on 03/27/2008, -1/+16That's fine except Microsoft makes some good software for the Mac. I currently have Office 2004 on all my Macs and once they get the installer mess straightened out, I'll be installing Office for the Mac 2008. It's much easier to do that than to fuss around with "save as" or having to do conversions in other office suites to exchange files with family members and business associates that use MS Office.
Not that it CAN'T be done, but my time is important to me (well other than digg comments) so I use the right tool for the job. - raptordrew, on 03/27/2008, -1/+16wtf is OSX9, and if you're referring to OS 9, why the heck would I want to emulate such an old and ***** OS on my computer today?
- phoomp, on 03/27/2008, -0/+15wait ... there are articles?
- imikedaman, on 03/27/2008, -1/+15I think this calls for a t-shirt:
"I uninstalled Safari before you even knew what it was" - gameforge, on 03/27/2008, -0/+14Fiddlesticks.
Now I have to peel the little Apple off my old PowerMac 7200/90 and stick it next to my Core 2 Quad sticker on my desktop.
These EULA's are getting out of hand... - haterofps3, on 03/27/2008, -0/+14Its a legal binding agreement REMEMBER!
Why should it be okay for them to make a mistake with a EULA but sue anyone who doesn't follow it? - crazygamer67688, on 03/27/2008, -3/+17apple is attempting to run their software without consent...
i hit the pause button on my keyboard while running winamp, and it instead launched itunes...
itunes got the boot... - jasarien, on 03/27/2008, -3/+17No. Just... no. Leave. Now. Go. Get out.
- jenel, on 03/27/2008, -0/+13Furious anger much?
- PurpleSfinx, on 03/27/2008, -2/+15Oh no! Now I'll have to buy a MAC to continue my Nuclear Weapons research.
...What? ...Oh, *****. - dpmcalli, on 03/27/2008, -1/+14Yeah but copyright infringement =/= violating EULA. And if anyones ever appeared in court based on using an illegal serial number Id love to hear about it.
