- Bdog2g2, on 10/12/2007, -11/+67WOW....looks like they may have to liquidate some assets
/sarcasm - mark1372, on 10/12/2007, -11/+53Nobody thought you were serious; just unfunny.
- geminitojanus, on 10/12/2007, -13/+51Awesome blog-posting with absolutely no trace of a validation link. Now that's what I call reporting!
- alexdagrate, on 10/12/2007, -5/+39Validation:

Content-less blog submissions are not cool. - SilentBobSC, on 10/12/2007, -6/+21Well here's an idea, how about just posting the source link instead of to some lame-ass blog.
- kowgod, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18Umm, the first sentence in the article links to http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/6420AP_WA_Apple_Fined.html
Ummmm? - FishyJoe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11NEWS FLASH: Steve Jobs gets a parking ticket.
- mark1372, on 10/12/2007, -7/+17And every single comment forum is filled with the exact same arguments over and over again (Fanboys, fanboys, fanboys! Macs are expensive! Get a real computer! Apple uses sweatshops!). It's like a really, really bad version of Groundhog Day.
- JangoFett, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11So that's what...four laptops?
- osbjmg, on 10/12/2007, -7/+15ONE-HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS!?
- strangerzero, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10refurbished iPods
- rimco, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12I think I just heard a drop fall into a very large bucket...
- Ramble, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Digg is not democratic at all. Digg is in fact a communist tech site.
- iSEPIC, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9"Well here's an idea, how about just posting the source link instead of to some lame-ass blog." - Because the FOR PROFIT BLOG, has ADs, and that's what DIGG is all about, pointing to your *****-ass-profit making blog articles, that are nothing more than a copy of some other site (like a news side). Such action are part of the Digg agreement (e.g. pointing to a blog instead of to the actual article) so why isn't there a ***** report button for it? Get this place in line, Kevin - dammit.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11"Come on Jimmy, we gotta get all these states registered before we can knock off."
"Ah, come on. We got to the V's, lets take off and knock back a beer."
Scenerio 2:
The spreadsheet that had the contact info for each state was put to 2 pages by Washington, and forgotten. - dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Scenario 5:
Steve Jobs: "I OWN Washington!!!"
Jobs' Assistant (meekly): "Uh, Mr. Jobs, that isn't, uhm, entirely true. You see, that was just Risk, a board game."
Jobs: "QUIET, INFIDEL!"
Assistant bursts into flames. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7X-D baa hahaha.
Scenario 4: "You're doing okay here at Apple Jim, but no more memos about how Washington isn't a state. It's just wierd."
"But Washington was purchased illegaly because .. " "--NOT kidding Jim, go finish the registrations." - Angostura, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Scenario 3: "You done Washington, Jimmy?"
"Sure"
Sotto Voce: "D.C, that is" - .mark, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7They'll probably pay the fine in iPods donated to the State...
- nigeltufnel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Here in Washington we've got all kinds of insane tax laws for businesses (Apple's stores are considered Washington businesses). I have a business entity set up and I'm amazed by the niggly stuff I have to deal with for the state (not to mention the county and city).
So it's no surprise that Apple missed this additional tax...er, license.
(BTW, the actual story is that Apple didn't have a license to sell service contracts, which is a state requirement.) - jer2eydevil88, on 10/12/2007, -6/+10Apple is a tech company and Digg is a democratic news site all about Tech! If you don't want to read about tech just visit http://news.google.com and customize it to not show anything about the tech industry.
- Egoist, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Says the guy with an apple logo for an avatar.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Tech, I like. Ball-washing? Not so much.
- thebman990, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8If you'd bother to click on that nice link, the one above the description that's blue and big and underlined, you'd see it is for selling service contracts in Washington State without registering as a service contract provider, which is required by a 1999 law.
But who cares about reading the article, anyways? It's so much easier to just guess at what "Apple Fined $100,000" means. - AeroSquid, on 10/12/2007, -14/+171/3 (5 of 15) articles currently on Digg front page are mac related. The sack riding is offically out of hand lol.
- quine, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8Facinating - what a coincidence! That is the same amount as the salary of the State Insurance Commissioner...
- soopafly, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6I got an idea.... How about you guys stop clicking on the Apple stories.
OMG what a concept!! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I rather have those underpaid workers than Indian tech support
- bjtylerx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What's all this bucket talk? - I thought apple made computers... Did anyone here about the new iBucket? It carries water AND plays music.
- brandizzle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"After its known by the majority of people that Apple uses slave labor to make its stuff, they will be doomed."
I wouldn't call it slave labor. It takes 90% of my pay to live basically...it only takes 50% of theirs...who wins?
And look on the tag of your shirt. What's it say? I'll give you a hint: "Made in China" - elurstoidi, on 10/12/2007, -7/+10wow, i love the first name reference... "ooooh kevin." kevin who???? "oooh kevin rose, i know the digg creator." shutup. i am addicted to reading these inane and asinine comments... but damn you, i hate all of you diggers. u R dummer than spit!!!!
- deepsub, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Apple is on the fast road to ruin."
More jokes!
What fun!
:-| - eddiddiums, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7So they have to register with Washington State even though they are not based out of there? Whatever.
At least it's pocket change by Apple standards. - khyberkitsune, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3You wanna talk bad about Apple? Let me do that - having worked for them and having owned Apple computers since the Powerboock 190cs, I can tell you almost every nuance and ass-pain of the products.
Anyone wanna know why Apple Laptops (g3 series, from the 72-73 iBook models) and the G4 titanium powebooks screw up so much, oftentimes requiring you to send it back for a LOGIC BOARD REPLACEMENT when all you wanted to do was upgrade the OS?
The answer lies in the absolutely horrible quality-assurance and quality-control standards where the boards are made/assembled - Guadalajara, Mexico. - eddiddiums, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Dude! It's a socially edited site. If you don't like the story, burry it.
- cawpin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@Ramble - No, that would require a central governing body deciding what is best for everyone to see, like Slashdot.
- jeblis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That's a lot less than a week of sales.
- NoozeHound, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1More of a 'Doh!', one would suspect...
- cmw72, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What ... did they get caught gambling online?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3i'm kinda agreeing this is some sort of fanboyism that got this story to the front page- this isn't 'news' at all!
- jeblis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Umm. Who the ***** cares? Not in any way a significant amount of money. Not a noteworthy offense.
- jodamiller, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@flintoid: Boeing is now based in Chicago, not Washington. Your comment is about 5 years out-of-date.
- Blarbo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4They should really learn to underline the links.
- fani, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I hate Weblogs.
- gothamcityprjct, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2No. It has to do with Apple not following Washington State law. :P
- maffiou, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1About people posting their own blog: I think if they add a valuable comment or analysis, I'm all for it...
And let's face it, if people were so annoyed by it, it wouldn't have reached the front page in the first place: so get a life and stop deciding what is self promotion and what isn't (it works with dupes as well).
And Digg's got ads as well now, so what's for profit and what isn't ?
- hayden.evans, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3oooh an hours worth of profit oo no!
- ingoldsby, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Well, it's safe to say someone got fired.
- dimsumx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Washington Apple....Am I the only one that sees the irony of that?
- b5bar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"from 2000 to 2004"
It is now 2006, 2 years after 2004. I wonder if a Washington Citizen can sue for something like that, or if there is a statute of limitations for them and not the government.
"The office said it has received no complaints about Apple's contracts."
So why did the government step in and fine Apple? Oh wait, easy money!
I guess it is better that they go after the large companies, and not the citizens for needed tax money. Question is, will this money go to help the people of Washington, or just pad politicians nest egg, or their campaign fund. -
