- foomojive, on 03/23/2009, -7/+69Maybe that's because they were 100 FRICKIN DOLLARS
- BrendanSheehan, on 03/23/2009, -4/+65Quietly and Apple cannot be in the same sentence anymore. Nothing is quiet when you know 1000 bloggers will blog about it. Please stop saying quietly. Apple never announce on their homepage: 'we're not going to sell "THIS" anymore'.
- Mr_Lyle, on 03/23/2009, -0/+46If a fat girl falls in the forest and no one is around to see it, do the trees laugh?
- megamod, on 03/23/2009, -3/+47If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
- danwallace, on 03/23/2009, -4/+44100 dollars for a bluetooth headset? Oh Apple, you so crazy.
- energyblue, on 03/23/2009, -4/+39Not too surprised. I can't think of anyone I've meet who owns one.
- Andy.D, on 03/23/2009, -1/+27Given that Apple is finally supporting a real audio profile, I'd assume this means a new headset is on the way.
- supakoopa, on 03/23/2009, -0/+24No, but it makes vibrations that could be registered as sound to the human ear.
- DeadPlasmaCell, on 03/23/2009, -0/+17And made you look like you had a Kit-Kat attatched to your ear.
- CrimsonFate, on 03/23/2009, -19/+33The newest rumor is that they're replacing it with a headset that runs on steam coming out of Apple users' over-inflated heads.
- byoung2, on 03/23/2009, -1/+11Seriously...You could have gotten 20 headsets for that price
- Scott2, on 03/23/2009, -1/+11As long as they bring out a new one - I can't live without my low profile, no-obnoxious-led, dead simple earpiece.
- diggthisman, on 03/23/2009, -8/+17if a mac fanboy wears it and nobody is around to see it, is it fashionable?
- eon42, on 03/23/2009, -1/+10new Apple A2DP headsets FTW?
- liquisoft, on 03/23/2009, -5/+14Some people are saying nobody owns one.
I own one.
I actually bought it AFTER I owned a Jawbone. Why, you ask? Because the Apple bluetooth headset flawlessly synced every single time. You dock it with the iPhone and it does all the work for you. Whenever you turn it on, it syncs with your iPhone. My jawbone was completely unreliable and I had to manually go into the iPhone and disconnect/reconnect the damn thing every time I wanted to use it.
While the Apple Bluetooth didn't have the same sound quality as the Jawbone, it was flawless and reliable and I'm glad I own one. - lintmonkey, on 03/23/2009, -0/+8...then don't throw yours out.
- Exiler86, on 03/23/2009, -0/+8uhh, ear buds don't go in your ear canal. They set in the exterior of the ear
That was canalphones are for... - lintmonkey, on 03/23/2009, -0/+8I know, right? It's got to be at least over 9000.
- inactive, on 03/23/2009, -0/+7only 1000?
- MasterQ, on 03/23/2009, -1/+7apple lossless is fine but its not an open format. I want my lossless audio in a format that can be played by multiple players, not just apple products. FLAC is a free open format supported by many players.
- SRSco, on 03/23/2009, -6/+12That thing didn't even fit in anybody's ear.
- aduzik, on 03/23/2009, -0/+6So you're saying it made you look crunchy and delicious? How could you go wrong?
- inactive, on 03/23/2009, -1/+7For that price I could almost buy two bottles of Bling H2O!!
- itsbob, on 03/23/2009, -1/+7Apple Lossless works and sounds great
- Xpletive, on 03/23/2009, -3/+9why would you discontinue something obnoxiously?
- IanG73, on 03/23/2009, -5/+11Wait, Apple made a bluetooth headset? Since when?
- jerrycan, on 03/23/2009, -2/+7Apple users.
- InfiniteNothing, on 03/23/2009, -3/+8How can any of you say you'd rather not have FLAC support? It doesn't hurt you to have it supported. AIFF is awesome but it pretty much forces you into the apple box which isn't cool.
- inactive, on 03/23/2009, -0/+5No, but it'd show up on Digg.
- pak314, on 03/23/2009, -0/+5I guess they should have held a press conference.
- mikebracco, on 09/18/2009, -1/+6I'm guessing that this will be replaced by another headset of some sort. I love my Apple headset simply for the integration with the iPhone (battery meter on phone, built in charger with the iPhone cord etc...)
- moose26, on 03/23/2009, -0/+4If it's and Apple Tree, the whole world will hear it.
- itsbob, on 03/23/2009, -1/+5I wish someone would quietly discontinue trolling
- Scott2, on 03/23/2009, -9/+13They feel the same about you.
- c010rb1indusa, on 03/23/2009, -2/+6.AIFF is equally as good and itunes/ipod compatible
- inactive, on 03/23/2009, -2/+6Looking for the part of the story where the 100$ headset is replaced with a 200$ one.
- MasterQ, on 03/23/2009, -1/+5If a forest hears in a sound and no tree is around to fall it, does it make a one?
- digitalpencil, on 03/23/2009, -1/+5you can get bluetooth headsets for $5 a piece?
- digitalpencil, on 03/23/2009, -0/+4stereo A2DP headphones please..
- MtheoryX, on 03/24/2009, -0/+3They see me trollin'... they hatin'
- petard, on 03/23/2009, -2/+5Maybe its the iPhone that is incompatible with the Jawbone?
- SteveMax, on 03/23/2009, -0/+3Maybe not for $5, but you can have one for $8.67 (free shipping, taxes included):
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.18053 (no affiliation with the site, and I don't think anyone here would buy that anyway)
Quality may be an issue there, though... - itsbob, on 03/23/2009, -0/+3It took so long to finally come out I bought a Jawbone that I never use instead.
- inactive, on 03/24/2009, -0/+3No kidding... the Apple tax only makes sense when it's a product whose features cannot be easily reproduced - aka iPhone, or OSX. $100 for a ***** bluetooth headset with minimal features??? Beat it.
- TomK, on 03/23/2009, -1/+4Loved my Apple Bluetooth headset. Much smaller and less gaudy (my opinion) than many other bluetooth devices out there. Paired perfectly everytime. The headset battery meter is a UI/UX piece of brilliance. And the $100 price tag? If I ever brought it to Apple to return (once dropped in a puddle), no questions asked, they would give me a new one. By no means the best on the market, but looks, functionality, service, compatibility ... worked flawless for me. While I am saddened that they are discontinuing, I am hopeful they are only coming out with something better.
- NGYoshi, on 03/24/2009, -0/+3What!? OVER NINE THOUSANDS!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBtpyeLxVkI - tyne101101, on 03/23/2009, -1/+4Could be a new headset, but I would believe the company is going to do something to enhance the Bluetooth quality.
- toconnor, on 03/23/2009, -0/+3Yes. Just not in stereo.
- aduzik, on 03/23/2009, -0/+2I had one. I lost it. I never felt compelled to replace it.
- GothAlice, on 03/23/2009, -1/+3I have in my possession three Jawbones, all original editions. I use my Apple BT headset daily, the Jawbones are being crushed in one of my desk drawers.
The audio quality appears to be the same, as none of my Jawbones, when paired with either an original iPhone or iPhone 3g, seemed to active the noise isolation feature. -
