- Spartan225, on 01/15/2008, -19/+395This is stupid. Didn't they learn anything from the iPhone price drop? Like honestly how do you justify this? There is no NEW hardware it is just a software update! It isn't even a price reduction like the iPhone, they are flat out saying...hey these guys get this for free....but you guys you have to PAY. This is just ridiculous.
- Spartan225, on 01/15/2008, -11/+303Apple TV gets the biggest software update ever and that is free.....5 ***** apps for iTouch users and we pay $20...ya this makes a lot of sense......I am an Apple fan but this is just low on numerous levels.
- JohnP, on 01/15/2008, -37/+284Utter *****, all touch owners need to be heard. How the ***** are we expected to go back to un jailbroken devices when apple is CHARGING for it? Talk about zero incentive.
Apple is now below SONY on my *****. SONY try and fail to please the masses, Apple just SCREW THEMSELVES. - dl27, on 01/15/2008, -26/+244Maybe with enough complaints, they'll give it away for free. Like the $200 rebate on the iphone.
- derekvof, on 01/15/2008, -10/+218That is absolutely obnoxious that after just spending $400 on a frickin iPod Touch a couple months ago, they want me to drop $20 on apps that should have been there in the first place. It's not about the $$ as much as the insult to those of us who went out and supported them with our hard-earned money in the first place, dealing with all their f!#$@# bugs in the software, and offering feedback and advice on how to make the product better. We damn well DESERVE to get these applications and it royally P*SSES ME OFF!
http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipod.html - IamMikeMusic, on 01/15/2008, -4/+153Looks like my iPod will stay jailbroken for the time being. And I was really looking forward to being able to update my firmware without any worries....thanks apple.
- stevekeller, on 01/15/2008, -4/+152***** that, even microsoft added functionality to the zune 1.0 for free...
- UtahApocalyse, on 01/15/2008, -3/+140Great way to say "Don't buy our stuff early on"
- mywhitenoise, on 01/15/2008, -1/+122Stay strong, man. Don't support this type of behavior.
I used to love Apple, but in the last couple of years they've been raping their fanbase more than ever. - WhiteIce89, on 01/15/2008, -9/+112Or you can just stay on jailbroken 1.1.2.. I don't see the problem.
- Roger, on 01/15/2008, -8/+95Won't people just write their own versions when the SDK is released?
- Raian, on 01/15/2008, -6/+86They have to be kidding... at the very least you have the option..... seriously.... I'm a pretty big Mac Zealot, but ***** you Apple.
- rojano17, on 01/15/2008, -1/+76Yup, i already have mail, maps and a bunch of other apps on my touch, why would you ever pay another 20 bucks??
- Thud, on 01/15/2008, -3/+69maybe if we piss and moan enough, Apple will give us a $10 refund on the upgrade.
- Ampidire, on 01/15/2008, -0/+62We actually only got $100 back.
- doommachine, on 01/15/2008, -3/+63Nice Timing. Who else got one for the holidays? =(
- 4j4x, on 01/15/2008, -0/+59Just left a bug report at:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipodtouch.html
-----
I found a bug... My iPod Touch is missing apps that were available on the iPhone, like Maps, Weather, Stocks... and when I try to access these, I am asked for $20! This is clearly not how it should be designed to work.
The expected usage is: Add applications.. no charge.
Can you look into this for me? - harryterry, on 01/15/2008, -6/+6320$ is ***** ridiculous!! i've had these 5 apps since it's been jailbroken. bad move on apples part...
- mstachiw, on 01/15/2008, -3/+59didn't the hacker community discover that iPhone apps work on touch? before this $20 announcement
- lidflipper, on 01/15/2008, -77/+132Lame. However, as much as I could piss and moan, I know they'll be getting my $20.
- SniperZ, on 01/15/2008, -2/+56It is quite stupid, new touch users get it for free, while the first adopters get a "Hey Screw You, you have to pay."
- Wargalas, on 01/15/2008, -17/+67If you're that whipped by Apple's products, perhaps you should take a look at yourself and see where you went wrong in life. :)
- mywhitenoise, on 01/15/2008, -4/+54Dude, Apple's been pissing me off a lot lately.
I was looking at building a Mac Pro, and there's a $250 difference to get 2GB of RAM, instead of 1GB. Honestly, who in their right mind would pay that much, when you can add it yourself for 5x cheaper? Their wireless mouse costs $70, the keyboard $80 (doesn't even have a number keypad on the right). Apple has always been a bit overpriced, but not this bad. - manapkt, on 01/15/2008, -1/+49what the ***** did you eat?
- HiCaP, on 01/15/2008, -4/+49***** You Steve, Can You Hear Me Now,, ***** YOU STEVE
$20. for a firmware update that I have now, Jailbroken - inactive, on 01/15/2008, -0/+43I don't think people realise that the SDK is probably going to involve Apple certifying each application (for a charge) before it is allowed to run on the phone.
- Rockmaninoff, on 01/15/2008, -0/+39And it wasn't a rebate. It only went towards another Apple purchase.
- Maciula, on 01/15/2008, -4/+40What's scarier - ***** over all the early adopters who bought ipod touch, or not learning from the $600 price for the iphone fiasco?
Steve-O, get your head out of your ass. - peestandingup, on 01/15/2008, -0/+36Yep, corporate greed at its finest.
- DIGGADEEP, on 01/15/2008, -2/+37shame on them for this...lame ploy for money.
lets let the hackers work this one out again... - LifeIsARhythm, on 01/15/2008, -3/+37they are screwing over the early adopters here, I don't like being robbed for supporting them so early. If they are charing $20 on the ipod touch to new customers I am fine with this, but if they aren't ***** them.
- shanafme, on 01/15/2008, -2/+35This is BS. No way am I paying to upgrade for apps that should have been on from day 1. Yeah, $20 is nothing, but it's just another example of how Apple is alienating their supporters.
- Mjeacoma, on 01/15/2008, -7/+40I am waiting for the mac fanboys to tell me how cheap I am for not wanting to throw another $20 down the throat of Apple's......
- XdigitalXdeathX, on 01/15/2008, -0/+32If your iPod Touch is jailbroken, here's how to get the iPhone apps on it:
http://rupertgee.wordpress.com/2007/12/03/install- ... - MindTrigger, on 01/15/2008, -13/+44How about they add another 60 or so GB to the damn thing so it will be useful.
- Spartan225, on 01/15/2008, -2/+30I agree, but being over priced is one thing...this is almost worse than the iPhone thing because someone else is literally getting it for FREE because they waited....but if you bought it early you have to pay. If they dropped the price of the iTouch I would be like whatever it sucks but that is the world. But THIS this right here is not the way to treat your customers, loyal, early adopters or whoever....this is not RIGHT.
- MxM111, on 01/15/2008, -2/+30Where is COPY/PASTE?
- inactive, on 01/15/2008, -2/+29then wait for those to get jail broken too.
- Gryffydd, on 01/15/2008, -1/+27Costed? Why did you spend your two weeks' allowance on lunch?
- wanderson, on 01/15/2008, -13/+34I think this is along the same lines of the 802.11n update for the MacBooks; they HAVE to charge for it because they've already realized the profit for the iPods (versus the iPhones which they probably amortize over the life of the contracts) under Sarbanes-Oxley. Thank Enron.
- Spartan225, on 01/15/2008, -1/+22I'm a Mac Fan, maybe not a Fanboy and I say hold your money, and boycott this update till they make it FREE. Someone needs to go William Walace on their asses and get our free damn update!
- MikeOSX, on 01/15/2008, -2/+22Fail.
- UNEXPLODEDduck, on 01/15/2008, -0/+20They'll probably charge us to install 3rd party apps on the ipod touch.
- sleepwalkers, on 01/15/2008, -1/+19A huge functionality upgrade that's free on new Touches and apps that have been standard on the iPhone from day one. They shouldn't be charging for these apps.
- hobomotel, on 01/15/2008, -1/+19They could have at least come up with some new ones!
- tobyadams, on 01/15/2008, -14/+31how very bloody dare they!!!!!
- nogami, on 01/15/2008, -1/+18Is the price of the touch going up $20 for new models? If not, early adopters are getting screwed...
Besides, it should've had this functionality from the start, just like the iPhone... - MindTrigger, on 01/15/2008, -2/+19I like how you ended your question with exclamation points.
- channard1, on 01/15/2008, -4/+20ARGH!!!. I am not usually the early adopter type, but as soon as I saw the Ipod touch I really wanted it. I knew that there would probably be a price drop later but I thought"No, they won't do something to quickly after the Iphone debacle" So now instead of a price drop, or a bigger model, they do a software update( and include the new software for new model for free) but I have to pay $20, why? This is just Apple telling me to NEVER buy something brand new from them because, in some way, you will be punished. Bad move Apple. I did'nt jailbreak my Ipod because I thought Apple would come out with great new apps but I'm gonna jailbreak it now and seriously consider Zune 3.0 for my next mp3 player. A seriously disapointed customer.
- PvtJenkins, on 01/16/2008, -2/+17I have. Everyone has. They love it.
